Chapter 28 - Trying to register as Awakened

Elliot had no idea he was being followed.

After being expelled from the Martial Arts Center and the Gym, he took several solitary routes that he knew from when he worked with the Misfits and quickly returned to his apartment, as they were relatively close to each other.

'It seems that registering is essential. If they don't let me train there and there are few dungeons to go to, I'll have to try to join a guild.'

Although there were other gyms and martial arts centers in the city, it was no secret that they all belonged to the same organization. They were all founded by an organization created by different guilds to strengthen their disciples in a more open environment. Therefore, if they didn't let you into one of those, then they wouldn't let you into any of the branches.

Besides, the guilds are in control of most of the dungeons in the city. They control everything from E-Rank Open and Closed Dungeons to the highest Rank C-Rank dungeons in the City.

They also have specific facilities, better than martial arts centers for training. What's more, if you're good enough, you can take part in tournaments and undergo intensive training under qualified instructors, where they teach you everything.

For the best qualified, being in a guild is even better than attending a prestigious academy, as the learning is more extensive and given by real professionals. There are those who are lucky enough to be taught by a Saint.

The problem is that they are strict about choosing their members. He must also look for a guild that opposes that of the Clark Family, as that way he won't be betrayed so easily.

Even so, for now, he wasn't in a hurry. He still had some time before the Tournament, so he could take some time to try to register.

While in his apartment, he checked his system. He had 5 points available to add.

'I was able to pass the E-Rank dungeon with ease, but the points decreased considerably. Before, I gained more than 15; now, I have barely 5. How is it possible that there is such a difference?'

'Maybe if I had get in again before going to the Awakened Rank...' He let out a soft sigh. 'There's no way, if the system could be fooled so easily, this world would be full of roses and not so dark.'

He closed the system without adding the points and looked at his slightly empty room. He needed to buy a lot of things, and as it happened, he now had money, so he didn't waste any time and decided to equip his new house with everything he needed.

He would have a few busy days dealing with boring issues, but if he wanted to live comfortably, it was something he had to do.

...

A few days later, on September 10th.

His apartment was now completely filled with everything he needed. It looked much better and was properly tidy, something he had learned from his mother's many scoldings as a child.

Right now, he was sitting at his recently purchased computer. When he was young, he had one, although they didn't let him use it often. Now that it had been more than four years since he had used one, he felt that he had forgotten how to use it, but at least he knew how to use the search engine and do searches on the local internet network.

There he found information on many things, until he got bored. He researched as much as he could, but time had passed.

'A week has passed since I awakened. I guess it's time to register.'

Since he was now free of everything he needed to do, it was time to register with the Association of the Awakened.

After leaving his apartment, he caught a taxi and headed for the Association of the Awakened.

It is a glamorous building, full of luxuries and modern beauty. Among the large buildings in the city, this one was the tallest and most imposing.

The Awakened Association is a special place, unique and interesting. It is a power created by the Global Awakening System itself, but it is under the nation's control.

This is the most respected state power, which is why the government gives it many supplies.

Furthermore, as it is a power created by the System, the guilds are obliged to pay it fees from time to time, so it is immensely rich in terms of wealth, but it maintains neutrality in every situation.

As it was early, many hunters were coming in and out of the building. In addition, businessmen and headhunters prowled the long, clean corridors of the building and the main area of the association.

Even so, nobody got in the way of the awakened or those who were going to register. Some approached the awakened, but only to offer them work or something similar. The more normal awakened tended to get contracts where they earned much money because of these people.

Elliot didn't care about any of this.

He went straight to register.

Very few people were registering today, so he didn't have to wait too long.

When he reached the person who would attend to him, he frowned.

The person looked up and made the same face as Elliot.

"You... Elliot Clark? What are you doing here?"

Elliot frowned and sighed. 'I didn't know the Clarks were working for the Association too now...' In the end, he shook his head and took out his ID, ignoring the guy's shout.

"I'm here to register."

The attendant took the ID in shock. "You? To register with the Awakened Association? Are you an idiot?"

Elliot sighed, looked at the person standing next to the idiot before him, and asked, "Are employees allowed to insult the awakened in that way?"

The man who was asked was one of those who attended to other awakened people, but he was currently off duty. He knew the rules here, more than the new guy before him.

But even so, he just shrugged. "The Awakened are treated with respect, but as far as I remember, Elliot Clark is a famous misfit in the city." His tone of voice hardened when he said 'famous', wanting to emphasize the kind of ridiculous fame he had.

In the end, Elliot shook his head helplessly. "If that's the case, I'll invoke the system's rules."

He looked up a little and spoke: "Rule Number 3 of the Association: The Association of the Awakened under the rules of the system is obliged to register anyone who wants to register, without contemplation and without caring about their name or previous status. Any Approved by the System can invoke this rule."

As soon as he said this, the Global Awakening System activated in front of him, and at the same time, the whole room lit up with a pale blue color, similar to neon lights, which left those in the room in shock.

This only meant one thing.

'Did this bastard really awaken?' Clark's member almost fell off his chair, and the man who had made fun of Elliot before spat out his coffee before running out of the place, leaving all the work to his mate.

Elliot didn't mind. But this drew quite a lot of attention to him, as it was the first time in a long time that an Awakened one had activated the system's rules.

'They didn't want to register it, but now they are obliged to... The members of the association are looking for their own problems.' Some awakened ones sighed and left, others stayed to see if anything else happened, and others simply continued their work.

"I guess you have nothing more to say, right?"

"You…" He tried to refute but found nothing to say.

"Tsk... Follow me."

Elliot started to follow him to the back room.

But before he could get there, a shout stopped him.

"Bastard Elliot, stop right there!"

The voice came from John Clark, so Elliot was forced to turn and look at him.

'He looks furious. Did he lose his mind when he realized I'm an Awakened One?' he thought.
