Kayla's question hung heavy in the air—unanswered.
To that sergeant Henry had simply ignored her, his stoic expression giving away nothing as he dismissed the class without a second glance. That, in itself, was the answer. A silent confirmation.
It was clear now.
There was a strong possibility the upcoming hunt might not take place on Earth after all. Everything they'd been told before now—might have been a ruse, a preparation for something far more distant. Another planet. A foreign terrain. One they weren't ready for.
Kairos couldn't shake the heat bubbling in his chest. A simmering anticipation. His mind had latched onto one revelation—that his Summons could grow stronger from consuming monsters. That fact alone made his blood pump faster with adrenaline and hunger. He wanted the hunt. Needed it.
