Chapter 5 - Tartarus

"Don't worry, I am a fair king and will not oppress her. I have the greatest duty and also the greatest power to vest on her. She will become the leader of all armed forces of the underworld, her river will surround the underworld itself, protecting it and also only allowing the souls to enter. She will have the keys to the underworld and in the army directly under me in influence." Hades said as he used his afterlife domain to expand Styx power more, although her previous form was not physical but a humanoid gasess form.

Now, however, Styx has a physical form since she has enough power to make one. She had pure black hair with green emerald eyes that promised judgment on anyone who broke their oath. Her figure was a perfect hourglass, with a large chest, legs, and a thin waist. Her allure was enough to contest with Hera; her noble eyes laid on Hades as he looked at her, waiting for her response. "I will do my best to make sure that no one trepasses into the underworld while also keeping the souls inside."

Hades nodded, satisfied by Styx. He said to rivers, "Handle your followers and armies and settle into your position, there are defenses which I trust you will get used to with time. I will be going to Tartarus."

The river worriedly said, "I would advise against it, my lord. Although Tartarus is under your domain, he is still a primordial god. I am afraid…"

"Don't worry, I have to go there for innocent souls are suffering there. As the King of the underworld, I need to rectify this." Hades said as he vanished into the shadows, the people were satisfied with their ruler who would put himself into danger for his responsibility and fairness.

Tartarus was every bit of the hell you would expect it to be: fire, acid rain, toxic air, and finally, chains of pure red pain bind those who fall into its depths, including Hades, but he used his power over the afterlife to easily stop this. Tartarus trembled, as since the ancient times there has been no one that has escaped his chains. 'WHO ARE YOU?' this was what Hades heard as a distant echo. He took a breath and said

"I am Hades, son of Titan king Cronus and Rhea, eldest of the Olympians, God of the afterlife, darkness, and nether. Finally, the king of the underworld and, by extension, I am your King. Now I command you under my name to lead me to the Hecatoncheires and Cyclopes."

Tartarus remained silent for a long while, then Hades was teleported where he saw the Hecatoncheires and Cyclopes trapped there in the chains of Tartarus. Hades gave a silent command to remove the chains, but Tartarus did not respond. After trying again, he just sighed before using his power to try and remove the chains. While he used his afterlife power to overpower the chains, Tartarus attacked him from behind using chains.

Hades was prepared, however, as he has fought so many divine sprites, elementals, and servants of primordial gods that fought the titians. He has experienced so many fights that he has developed an instinct of danger, he used his darkness to make chains which counter the chains of pain as they collided in his velocity, breaking both the chains. Hades was already powering it and enchanting his darkness to the max.

Hades turned, his eyes glowing like a red star with an ancient power. The Nether around him pulsed, a formless energy older than time itself, answering his command. The void twisted behind him and took form—tendrils of purple energy, shifting into serpentine chains of pure will, with black fire licking their edges. "Tartarus," he spoke calmly, his voice now amplified by the Throne of the Underworld's echo, "You were never meant to imprison the innocent. Only monsters."

Tartarus screamed. It wasn't a voice, not truly—more like a thousand collapsing stars howling in rage. From the abyssal sky rained molten meteors and blades of rusted time. The chains of red pain returned, larger now, animated by Tartarus's will and madness, each link screaming the names of those it had imprisoned.

Hades slammed his foot into the ground, and the very bedrock of the afterlife responded. Spires of black marble erupted, forming a circular barrier around the imprisoned Hecatoncheires and Cyclopes. His hand rose, and from his palm burst a Nether seal, an ancient rune that bent the very concept of restraint.

"You have ruled over nothing but broken echoes and forgotten screams. I rule over consequence, penance, and rebirth. You have no dominion here anymore." Tartarus said. A great form began to coalesce—an avatar, the physical will of the pit itself. A giant composed of volcanic rock, its veins glowing magma, with chains for limbs and a skull made of iron and bone.

The avatar lunged. The chains cracked like thunder, each swing heavier than mountains. Hades weaved through the attacks, cloaked in shadows that folded space. With each dodge, he left behind echoes as he leapt forward and exploded into bursts of black streak, consuming the acidic air and scorching fire. He appeared in front of Tartarus as he used his nether to summon a purple spear. He threw the spear at the skull of Tartarus. He, of course, tried to block the spear with his hand as he wrapped his hand with chains just to be careful, but it proved to be not enough. His entire wrist was obliterated as Tartarus screamed in pain, with red hot lava falling from his injury. "How? What the hell are you?"

"Like I said I am Hades, and that was destruction itself." Hades said with a confident smirk as the battle field slowly came into a stand still with hades removing the structures he created using darkness. "Did I prove myself worthy?"

"Yes, you did. I will serve you from now on, but just so you know," Tartarus began as hades was immediately pushed to the ground. He was barely able to stand under the pressure, but as soon as it came it disappeared. Hades caught his breath as Tartarus just bellowed a deep laughter before teleporting them outside his domain.
