Chapter 35: Krabby
Meanwhile, back in town, Officer Jenny had already found all the information on Brock from the Pewter Gym. She opened the file and slowly began to read through it. After a little while, Officer Jenny finished reading all of Brock's information.
After reading the file, Officer Jenny's face turned pale; she knew she had caused trouble. She hurriedly ran to make a phone call. Reaching a telephone, Officer Jenny dialed a string of numbers and placed the call. The phone began to ring, "Ring~ Ring~".
After a few minutes, the call connected, and an elderly woman, over sixty years old, appeared on the phone's screen. This old woman was the matriarch of the Jenny clan.
Seeing Officer Jenny on the screen, the matriarch asked, "Leng, why are you calling me? Is something wrong?"
"Grandmother, I think I messed up," Officer Leng said, then recounted the day's events to the matriarch.
Hearing Officer Leng's story, the matriarch's face darkened and she said angrily, "Leng! You've greatly disappointed me! As a police officer, how could you plant a listening device on someone?! It's fortunate that person decided not to pursue the matter. As for those five Pokémon, just let it go. Don't investigate further; consider them our apology gift! Also, Leng, I think you should stop being a police officer for now. You're suspended for a few months. Use the time to calm down."
Hearing her grandmother's words, Officer Leng replied pitifully, "Yes, Grandmother." After speaking, she hung up the phone.
After hanging up, Officer Leng went to the lobby, walked over to a sofa, and sat down. Then she thought, Grandmother told me to temporarily stop being a police officer and calm down... Sigh! If I'm not a police officer, what should I do?! ... That's right! I'll become a Pokémon Trainer! Anyway, I quite enjoy Pokémon battles. Having made up her mind, Officer Leng left the police station, her destination unknown.
That evening, Brock and his group were in their room at the town's Pokémon Center.
"Brock, was what we did okay? I kind of feel like we wronged Officer Jenny... Do you think Officer Jenny will come arrest us all?" Ash asked Brock worriedly.
Hearing Ash, Brock chuckled and replied, "Ash, relax! Officer Jenny isn't going to arrest us. After all, we didn't break any laws. Besides, she planted the listening device on me first, which is basically invading my privacy. Me taking a few of her Pokémon as compensation from her... that's not excessive, right?"
Hearing Brock's reasoning, Ash nodded and said, "Seems like that makes sense." After saying this, Ash didn't pursue the matter further.
Just then, Melanie, having heard Brock and Ash's conversation, asked worriedly, "Brock, is this really okay?"
Hearing Melanie, Brock reassured her, "Relax, Melanie! It's no problem." Hearing Brock's confident words, Melanie's slight worry disappeared.
Meanwhile, Misty and Daisy heard their conversation but didn't say or ask anything. Perhaps, being daughters from major families, they also understood the reasoning behind it. And so, Brock's group didn't discuss it further, and eventually, they all slowly fell asleep.
The next day, Brock's group of five humans and two Pokémon set off again towards Vermilion City. After leaving the town, they noticed Officer Jenny didn't come looking for trouble, which meant they could safely keep the five Squirtle.
"Brock! Officer Jenny really didn't arrest us or cause any trouble! That means she agreed to let us keep the Squirtle!" Ash said happily to Brock as he walked at the head of the group.
Hearing Ash, Brock replied, "Yes. So let's not worry about this matter anymore. Let's just focus on traveling properly!"
Brock's group walked for an unknown amount of time. They passed through a lush forest and arrived at a seaside beach. An endless ocean stretched out before their eyes. Ash and the others were now on the sandy beach by the sea.
"Ash, how many Pokémon do you have now?" Brock asked curiously.
Hearing Brock, Ash replied, "Brock, I only have 6 Pokémon."
Hearing Ash's answer, Brock thought, Ash already has a full team of 6 Pokémon? Including Meowth, I only have four... Sigh! I still have too few Pokémon. Can't even make a full team of six yet. I should go catch a few more Pokémon.
Having figured this out, Brock said to Ash, Misty, Melanie, and Daisy, "Ash, Misty, Melanie, Daisy! Can you guys wait here for me for a bit? I'm going to go catch a few Pokémon." After speaking, Brock walked off with Meowth.
However, hearing Brock, Ash also said to Misty and the others, "Misty, Daisy, Melanie! I'm going to go catch Pokémon too! You guys wait here for Brock and me, okay?" After speaking, Ash walked off with Pikachu.
Only Misty, Melanie, and Daisy were left standing there foolishly. Just then, Misty suggested, "Sister Daisy! Sister Melanie! Since we're idle anyway, why don't we all sunbathe together here on the beach?" After speaking, Misty ran off onto the beach to sunbathe.
Hearing Misty's suggestion, Daisy and Melanie thought about it and decided it was a good idea. They ran over beside Misty to sunbathe together. And so, three young women lay on the beach, sunbathing.
Meanwhile, with Brock. He walked along, looking around, searching for any decent Pokémon. Along the way, Brock didn't see a single Pokémon. Just then, he thought, Is my luck really this bad? I've walked so far and haven't seen even a trace of a Pokémon... Sigh! Looks like it's getting late anyway. I should head back and meet up with Ash, Misty, and the others!
Finishing his thought, Brock started walking back. He hadn't gone far when he saw Ash nearby, doing something. Walking closer, he saw Ash commanding Pikachu to battle a Krabby! Needless to say, Ash wanted to catch the Krabby.
Brock looked at the Krabby before him. An average Krabby's height is typically around 40 centimeters. Looking at the Krabby currently battling Pikachu, it was only about 20 centimeters tall. Clearly, it was underdeveloped.
Brock thought, Sigh! Regardless of whether the Krabby Ash encountered is underdeveloped or not, at least Ash encountered a Pokémon! Thinking about myself, I haven't even seen a trace of one! Ash's protagonist halo is way too strong! I clearly left before Ash, so why couldn't I run into a Krabby?! Sigh... I'm reminded of a saying from my previous life: 'If it's fated, it will eventually happen; if not fated, don't force it.' I guess that's just how it is!
Having come to terms with it, Brock saw Ash walk over and pick up a Poké Ball. Seeing this, Brock said, "Ash, you caught the Krabby! It's getting late. We should head back and meet up with Misty and the others now."
After hearing Brock, Ash was just about to reply when the Poké Ball containing Krabby suddenly disappeared! Seeing this, Ash knew his Krabby had been automatically transferred back to Professor Oak's lab. Just then, Ash thought, Good thing Brock told me to read up on Pokémon information a short while ago! Otherwise, I wouldn't even know why Krabby vanished. I wonder if Krabby arrived at Professor Oak's place okay...
"Ash! Snap out of it! It's getting late. We should go meet up with Misty and the others," Brock said, looking at the spacing-out Ash.
Brock's words snapped Ash out of his daze. He then walked back with Brock to the place where they had separated from Misty and the others. There they saw three young women lying on the sandy beach. Yes, the three young women were Misty, Daisy, and Melanie.
