After school, Elena went home, knocked out her homework, and now here we are—at a stupid party. And yes, I do mean stupid. Just a bunch of teenagers drinking cheap beer and trying to hook up. Not exactly my scene.
Right now, Elena's talking to Bonnie about Stefan. Bonnie's trying to feel out whether Elena likes him or not.
Speaking of Stefan—one of my birds spotted him entering the party. Looks like he's trying to eavesdrop on Elena's conversation. How annoying. Luckily, Caroline popped out of nowhere and dragged him off to grab a drink. Good girl.
Anyway, I tuned back in to what Bonnie and Elena were talking about.
"I wonder where he is," Bonnie said, clearly talking about Stefan.
"I don't know. You're the psychic—you tell me," Elena teased.
"You're right, I need to concentrate," Bonnie said.
"Wait, you need a crystal ball?" Elena joked as she picked up a random beer bottle, holding it out toward Bonnie like it was magical.
Bonnie laughed and reached for it—but then something strange happened. When Bonnie's hand brushed Elena's, she was yanked straight into my domain. I could see her. And she could see me.
Well, this just got interesting.
"How fascinating," I said, smiling. "You can see me. Your grandmother could only sense me, but you... you somehow pierced Elena's soul. You really are a strong witch."
"What the hell?" Bonnie blinked, staring at me.
"Don't worry about it—for now. I'm sure Elena will explain everything after the party... assuming you tell her what you saw. My name is Sukuna, by the way."
"Sukuna?" she repeated.
"We'll talk again, Bonnie." I snapped my fingers.
Bonnie's POV
The second he snapped his fingers, I was back at the party.
"Bonnie, are you okay?" Elena asked, clearly concerned.
I shook my head. "That was... weird. I saw someone. He was sitting on a throne of bones, and there was blood on the floor. He had these strange markings on his face and arms... four eyes... pink hair."
"What?" Elena said, looking calm but confused.
"And he said his name was Sukuna. I remember that name—from when we were kids. You used to say he was your imaginary friend. He also said something about me being a witch..."
Elena looked at me, took a deep breath, and opened her mouth to say something—but I stopped her.
"I'm just a little drunk. That was just something crazy. I'm not psychic," I said quickly and tried to walk away.
But Elena grabbed my arm.
I looked back at her, confused.
"Bonnie... I think you should come over to my house tonight. We need to talk." Her voice was calm, but serious—way more serious than I'm used to hearing from her.
"Sure... but I'm gonna go get a refill first. I'll be right back, promise," I said.
Elena let go of my arm, and I walked off, trying to process everything. I needed time to think about what I just saw... and what it means.
Elena / Sukuna POV
"Sukuna, what did you just do? And how the hell did that happen?" Elena whispered harshly, eyes flicking around to make sure no one saw her talking to herself.
'Hey, I didn't do anything. Bonnie's the one who somehow peered into our soul. I just said you could explain it later.' I said calmly.
"Why would you say that?" she hissed, her voice just barely under a scream.
'Elena, go somewhere private. Now. Last thing we need is people seeing you talk to yourself at a party,' I told her.
She followed my advice, slipping away from the noise and the flashing lights. She ended up at an old bridge a little ways off—quiet, secluded, perfect for a private freak-out.
As she walked, one of my birds picked up something... Jeremy. He was trailing behind Vicki and Tyler like a lost puppy. Dumb kid—he's got a crush. We'll deal with that later. For now, we have bigger things to worry about.
"Okay," Elena said once she reached the bridge, leaning against the railing, her head bowed. "We're alone. Now tell me what happened back there."
'Honestly? I have no idea how she did it. She just reached out for that beer bottle, touched your hand, and next thing I know—bam. She's in our soul, staring at me. So I said you could explain things after the party.'
"Oh my God... it's only been two days. And now I have to tell one of my best friends about the supernatural?" she groaned, still leaning forward, her head resting in her arms.
'I get it, it's not ideal. But this is actually a good thing. If Bonnie believes what she saw—and she will—you'll have someone else who knows the truth. You won't have to lie to her anymore.'
"She won't believe me. She didn't even believe her grandma," Elena mumbled.
'Two things,' I said. 'One, Sheila never showed her any magic. Two, Bonnie thinks she's losing it. But we can prove it easily. Either I appear again on your cheek... or you use 'Rot'.'
"Can we not call it that?" she winced. "It sounds disgusting."
Alright, fair enough.
'Okay, then how about... Scarlet Rot?' I offered.
She lifted her head, thinking about it for a moment. Then she stood upright and gave a small nod.
"Actually... that's not a bad name."
'Glad you like it. Now, back to what's—' I paused mid-sentence. One of my birds had just spotted Stefan. He was headed straight for us.
'Elena—Stefan's coming. Don't speak. He might've heard you earlier or followed you. Just wait.'
She nodded quietly and turned her back to the path, eyes fixed on the water, trying to play it cool.
Let's see how good Stefan's vampire hearing really is…
It took a few minutes, but eventually, Stefan showed up.
"Hey... are you okay?" he asked gently.
Elena glanced over at him. Her tone was neutral, but not cold.
"I'm fine. Just wanted to be alone for a bit." She paused. "You're the new guy, right?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "Stefan."
"I know. Small town—news travels fast," she said with a slight smile.
"Right," he said, taking a slow step closer. "Guess I'll have to get used to that."
"If you're planning on staying for the rest of your life, then yeah," she replied, folding her arms as she leaned back against the railing.
Stefan was quiet for a second, then said softly, "I heard what happened to your parents. I just... wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss."
"Thank you," she replied, her voice calm but sincere.
There was a beat of silence before he spoke again.
"You know, it's okay to not be okay. Most people pretend—they smile so others don't feel bad... but that doesn't mean they're fine."
Elena gave a faint nod. "Yeah. I know. I usually try to be open with my friends. I tell them I'm not completely okay, and that's true. But I'm better than I was."
She took a breath and looked up at the darkening sky.
"I still miss them every day. But I know I can't stay in that sad place forever. I have to move on, live my life. I think that's what they'd want—for me to be happy."
Stefan looked at her for a long moment, quietly taking in her words. There was something about the way she spoke—so honest, yet guarded. It wasn't hard to see why he was drawn to her.
While Elena and Stefan were talking, I stopped paying attention. My focus was on my birds—specifically the one keeping tabs on Jeremy. He was heading back to the party after a half-assed argument with Vicki and Tyler. Typical teenage drama. Once he walked off, Tyler stormed away too, leaving Vicki alone in the woods.
Bad move.
I kept another bird on her because I knew what was coming. She was going to be attacked tonight. I thought about stepping in, maybe changing things—but Vicki doesn't die here, and this is a good opportunity. I needed to lay eyes on Damon.
And just like in the show, it happened. Damon showed up and sank his fangs into her like he was sipping wine. I didn't panic. I watched. Waited. Made sure he didn't kill her.
A few seconds later, he pulled back and vanished before anyone could see him. Classic Damon.
I sent one of my birds down, landing softly on Vicki's chest to check if she was still breathing.
She was.
Good. Timeline's intact—for now. Even better, I finally have eyes on Damon. Vampires are fast, yeah, but with cursed energy enhancing my birds, I can track their physical abilities easily.
They can run, but they can't hide—not from me.
After I made sure Vicki was alive, I commanded my bird to fly off but stay nearby—close enough to keep an eye on her. I didn't tell Elena about the attack. She'll find out soon enough when someone discovers her.
Roughly twenty minutes passed. Stefan and Elena finally wrapped up their "oh-so-exciting conversation" and headed back to the party. Thank god. That talk was painfully boring—just Stefan trying to charm his way in, and Elena holding her ground like a champ. She made it pretty obvious she wasn't interested. Honestly? I'm proud of her. She's not falling for some old dude pretending to be a high school student.
Like, seriously—if I were a vampire, I would not be redoing high school. You've had hundreds of years, you're rich, you can literally do anything… and you choose pop quizzes and cafeteria food? Absolute clown behavior. If you're not rich, just walk outside without that ring and just burn up in the Sun, what the hell have you been doing all this time?
Anyway.
Suddenly, a scream broke through the night. Elena and Stefan instantly turned toward the sound and pushed through the crowd that had gathered.
Right in the middle of the chaos were Matt, Tyler, and Jeremy—crowded around Vicki, who was barely conscious and bleeding from the neck.
"Somebody call an ambulance!" Matt yelled.
"Everyone back up, give her space!" Tyler added, actually sounding useful for once.
Elena rushed forward. Without hesitation, she took off her scarf and wrapped it tightly around Vicki's neck to stop the bleeding. That girl doesn't hesitate. She might say she's not ready for this supernatural stuff, but she's got the instincts.
A few tense minutes passed, but Elena stayed calm, keeping pressure on the wound until the ambulance finally showed up and took Vicki to the hospital.
After Stefan slipped away—probably to go deal with Damon—Bonnie walked up to Elena.
"Elena, I'm gonna take Caroline to the Grill. She's way too drunk, so I'm gonna make sure she sobers up enough to get home." Bonnie said, looking over at Caroline, who was swaying a little in place.
'Elena, go with them,' I said.
"Okay, I'll come with you guys," Elena responded without hesitation.
"You don't have to do that. And besides… what about Jeremy?" Bonnie asked, raising an eyebrow.
'Elena, it's important you go. There's a chance Damon might be at the Grill, and we still need to talk to Bonnie.' I reminded her.
"Don't worry. Jeremy will be fine." Elena reassured her.
Bonnie hesitated for a second but finally nodded. I could tell she was still uneasy—probably more about the weird soul trip earlier than Elena tagging along. Honestly, I get it. I'm not exactly easy on the eyes. Elena's never even seen my true form—just heard my voice and the description I gave her. Not that I'm eager to traumatize her with the visual.
So, the girls headed to the Grill, with Caroline complaining the entire way—mostly about Stefan.
"Why didn't he go for me? Like seriously, how come the guys I want never want me back?" Caroline whined, slumped over a soda glass.
"I'm not touching that," both Elena and Bonnie said in sync.
'Shit, I will. I muttered in Elena's head. 'You're self-absorbed, get jealous easily, and you're kinda selfish. Don't think I didn't notice you secretly competing with Elena all these years. And let's not forget all the out-of-pocket stuff you randomly say.'
"...inappropriate. And I always say the wrong things." Caroline mumbled to herself.
'Told you.' I said with a mental smirk.
Elena and Bonnie just looked at her, silent but clearly in agreement. Caroline turned to Elena, pouting a little.
"But you always say the right things. I saw you two talking—I guess you're into him?" Caroline asked, her tone halfway between curiosity and hurt.
"I'm not. I made it clear—I'm not looking for a relationship with him," Elena said calmly.
Both Caroline and Bonnie looked surprised by that.
"Seriously? Why? He's so hot!" Caroline blinked at her.
"I'm not denying he's attractive," Elena replied, "but I'm just not ready for a relationship right now. And besides... if he can't see the amazing, beautiful person you are, Caroline—then maybe he's not the right guy for me either."
Caroline just stared at her for a moment before smiling—genuinely this time.
After the night wound down and Caroline was sober enough, they dropped her off at home. Bonnie ended up staying at Elena's.
Now, the two were sitting in Elena's room. Silent. Bonnie sat on the edge of the bed, fidgeting with her fingers, while Elena leaned against the wall, arms crossed. Neither knew how to start.
'Oh my god, would one of you two just talk already?' I groaned. 'I'm pretty sure I can hear time itself aging in here—and that should be impossible.'
Elena took a deep breath, steeling herself.
"Okay. This… this is going to sound insane. Probably hard to believe, definitely hard to explain. But I need you to keep an open mind, alright?"
Bonnie looked at her, confused but curious, and nodded slowly.
"First… you're a witch. A real one. Your Grams wasn't making things up." Elena said, her voice steady.
"What? Is this some kind of joke? Did my grandma put you up to this?" Bonnie narrowed her eyes.
"No. This isn't a joke. Please—just let me explain. After I'm done, you can ask anything you want."
Bonnie fell silent again, waiting.
"Okay… a couple years ago, when I was five, I ate something—I'm not saying what yet—but it caused someone to… live inside my soul. His name is Sukuna. He used to be human. A long time ago. But he wasn't normal—he had four arms, six eyes, and a twisted face. People called him a monster, a cursed being. So he leaned into that and studied dark magic. He created his own power—something called cursed techniques."
Bonnie's eyes widened.
"And I'm not going to lie to you, Bonnie. He was evil. He won't tell me everything about his past, but what I do know is... yeah, he was a monster. But that's not who he is anymore."
Bonnie stared at her, silent but clearly shaken.
"He's been with me since I was a kid. I used to talk to him all the time when I was little, but I stopped once I became friends with you and Caroline. Still, he never left. He kept watching over me. Every time I had a nightmare—he made it go away. When I got sick—he healed me. Hurt myself? He fixed it, quietly, so no one would notice. He's always been there, protecting me. And yeah… he's kind of sadistic, especially when he trains me. But he does care. In his own twisted way." Elena gave a small smile. "He even makes me do my homework every day when I get home."
Bonnie blinked, still confused—but listening.
"After my parents died, he finally talked to me again. It wasn't just to comfort me—it was a warning. Something dangerous is coming to Mystic Falls. Two vampires. One is my ancestor—she's going to try and use me to win her freedom. The other is something else… an Original. One of the first vampires. He's a hybrid—part werewolf. And he needs me dead to break his curse."
Elena paused, letting it sink in.
"Bonnie, there's a good chance you and the others could get hurt because of this. And I'm sorry—but I didn't want to keep you in the dark, not when things are about to get so dangerous."
Then silence again.
Elena watched Bonnie carefully, waiting. Heart beating a little faster.
"Elena, that's hard to believe... and it sounds crazy," Bonnie finally said, shaking her head.
"I know," Elena replied quietly.
"No—like really crazy. Are you sure you've been okay?" Bonnie asked, concern creeping into her voice.
And that's my cue.
An eye and a mouth opened on Elena's cheek. Bonnie froze, staring in sheer horror.
"Everything you just heard is true, Bonnie." I said calmly. "There is someone in her soul—that's me. And yes, there are vampires coming to Mystic Falls. And you… you're a witch. A powerful one, from an even stronger bloodline."
Bonnie's mouth opened like she was about to scream.
"Don't scream. It'll only attract attention," I warned. "Elena's not ready to tell Jenna yet. Please."
Bonnie clamped her mouth shut and slapped a hand over it, eyes wide, breathing hard.
"Good. Now, I know you and Elena still have a lot to talk about, so I'll leave you to it. Honestly, I'm kind of tired anyway."
With that, the eye and mouth on Elena's cheek vanished.
Bonnie sat there in silence, still trying to process what just happened. Then, slowly, they started talking. Elena explained as much as she could: about the vampires, the threats, her training, what it meant for Bonnie to be a witch… everything.
Eventually, the weight of the night caught up with them, and they both went to sleep. I'm just glad Elena has someone else now to share this with. I can tell it's been eating away at her—keeping this all in. Having Bonnie on her side will help.
