"…I'm alive," Omen muttered blankly, eyes scanning his surroundings. The Lasso of Truth was tightly wrapped around his arms and legs, binding him in midair. He looked up at Wonder Man, who flew ahead of him, holding the lasso with a deep, silent frown.
They were headed toward a lab, The Martian Womanhunter and Flash were nowhere to be seen. The Martian must've taken Flash. Her legs were badly damaged by him after all..
"He really lives…" Wonder Man muttered in disbelief, eyes fixed on Omen.
Omen ignored him. His gaze shifted to Batwoman, flying nearby in her jet. His expression was cold, clearly displeased.
"Why didn't you destroy my body?" he asked flatly.
Batwoman looked at him, her face serious. "Because I will never give up on you," she said. "That's a promise I intend to keep."
At her words, Omen's shoulders dropped, not in defeat, but in quiet, exhausted resignation, and disappointment.
"I'm a monster," Omen said quietly. "The last thing I deserve is for anyone to care. There's no saving me. Destroy my body before I do more harm."
His voice was calm, almost empty. Wonder Man, who had held nothing but contempt for Omen, felt his expression soften. The Lasso of Truth ensured every word was genuine—no lies, no performance.
"The Justice League will do everything in their power to save you," Wonder Man said gently. Omen shook his head.
"I'm beyond saving," Omen said softly. "And the fact that you could destroy me right now but still refuse to…" His words trailed off as he felt a hand rest gently on his shoulder.
He turned and saw Superwoman. She was looking at him with hope. Not pity. Not fear. Just hope. So much of it… that for the first time in a long while, Omen hesitated.
"It's never too late," Superwoman said, her voice steady. "We have the best minds in the world. We will help you. We will save you."
Omen looked at her for a long moment… then his eyes fell to the symbol on her chest. The S. To some, it was just a letter. To the world, it was a symbol of hope. And this woman, standing before him, was the embodiment of that hope. No matter how dark things became… She always shone through.
"The light fighting the darkness… and the darkness fighting the darkness," Omen said with a faint smile. Superwoman blinked, confused by the sudden shift in tone.
"Omen—stop!" Batwoman's voice roared over the comms. The jet's weapons locked onto him before he even moved, shooting flames at him. But it was already too late.
In a flash of overwhelming strength, Omen broke free, shattering Wonder Man's grip and launching him aside. Before Superwoman could react, she was slammed with a forceful blow, sent rocketing toward the ground at blinding speed.
Freed from the lasso, Omen flew through the flames without hesitation. His body twitched slightly, an instinctive reaction to the heat, but it was quickly drowned out by his laughter.
"Looks like the Martian had some fear of fire…" he said, grinning through the smoke. "I don't."
He locked eyes with Batwoman. She stopped firing. Because she knew, it was useless now. Omen didn't have the Martian fear of fire.
"This is goodbye—for now. The next time we meet, I'll make sure the world knows exactly who I am," Omen said, his voice gentle as he tossed the Lasso of Truth back toward Batwoman.
Before Wonder Man could land a blow, Omen vanished, blasting into the sky with a speed so overwhelming, everyone was left in stunned silence. It wasn't just fast, it was beyond anything they'd seen. Faster than Martian Womanhunter and Wonder Man combined.
Superwoman reacted instantly, rocketing into the sky after him, her figure cutting through the clouds as she pushed herself to the limit. Omen glanced back, one eyebrow rising in quiet surprise as he realized she was gaining on him.
Then, without hesitation, he came to a sudden stop in midair. He didn't prepare to fight. He simply hovered there, waiting. Because in that moment, all he wanted… was for her to kill him… what's the worst that could happen?
Boom.
Omen was launched backward, completely caught off guard as Superwoman struck him with precision, her strength carefully held back at the last second to avoid killing him.
He hurtled through the sky, reeling from the force, before catching himself just above the ground and flying off without another word.
'Superwoman has incredible control over her power… and sharp senses, too.' Omen thought as he sped through the clouds. 'She noticed the moment I weakened myself.'
'But I won't ruin it, not yet. Our first real battle should be something the world watches together. I want everyone to see it when I crush their symbol of hope. Our first time should be special.'
With that, he shot off at full speed, the sky screaming behind him. Superwoman gave chase, closing the distance bit by bit—but just as she was about to reach him, Omen dove into the sea, and vanished. Completely invisible—one of the Martian Manhunter's many gifts.
Superwoman couldn't even sense the movement of the water to pinpoint Omen's location—he was phasing through it, slipping past even her enhanced senses. Still, she didn't stop, scanning the entire ocean in hopes of finding him.
"…So, he got away," Flash said softly. Back at the Justice League Watchtower, she removed the part of her costume that hid her face, revealing a beautiful blonde-haired woman with a downcast look.
"Yes," Superwoman said, before turning to look at Batwoman.
"Why did Omen suddenly attack? You even knew he would do it," Wonder Man asked.
Batwoman closed her eyes for a moment, silent, before finally speaking.
"You showed that you cared. Omen is weak to those who truly care for him," Batwoman said lightly. "When he came to the conclusion that Superwoman and Batwoman are two sides of the same coin, he ran away. Everything he said was partly true, but Omen was mainly scared of knowing more about you."
"Why would he be scared about that?" Superwoman asked, confused. But as soon as the words left her mouth, the answer hit her.
"He doesn't want to break you," Batwoman said quietly. "Just like he doesn't want to break me… but he can't help it. The first person to kill him was someone infected with Joker venom. He's been fighting it—even now. That's why I refuse to give up on him."
Wonder Man frowned.
"He wants to die. If he's fighting back, aren't you just throwing that effort away by forcing him to keep living? I say we kill him—and destroy the body."
Batwoman didn't respond. Instead, she turned to look at Superwoman, waiting to see what her choice would be.
"I want to know everything about Omen," Superwoman said firmly. "And no holding back. Not even you can take this on alone."
Batwoman shot her a glare, but after a brief pause, she nodded and turned to leave.
"Where are you going?" Superwoman asked.
"To find Luthor. Those people chasing Omen were Luthor's women."
With those words, the League moved without hesitation, following Batwoman straight to AlexisCorp. To their surprise, Alexis Luthor was already waiting for them.
"I believe we should all work together," Luthor said, gesturing for them to enter her office.
"What do you know?" Batwoman asked coldly.
Luthor said nothing. She simply pointed to the screen. Footage began to play, Omen, mid-torture. The most disturbing parts had been removed, but what remained was enough to make them all stop in their tracks.
"A monster who gains the strength of those who kill him, and now he holds the power of some of the Justice League's heaviest hitters," Alexis said. "Omen is someone we need to handle together, and without making him any stronger."
Before she could continue, Batwoman grabbed her by the neck and slammed her against the wall.
"You're forgetting the part where this is all your fault?" Batwoman snapped. "You created this mess—then come running to the Justice League when you realize you're not as powerful as you thought you were?"
Alexis's eyes turned cold. But before a fight could break out, the others quickly pulled them apart.
"He's scared," Wonder Man said sharply. "He caught a glimpse of what Omen's capable of—and now he knows he needs us."
Luthor snorted but didn't respond. He didn't have to. Of course, he was scared. Who wouldn't be? If Omen showed up at your door, would you greet him with a smile?
And now, Omen could transform. He could be anyone—just a random face on the street, a fly on the window. The possibilities were endless.
But right now, Omen was in Belle Reve. Transformed into an ant, he crawled unnoticed through the high-security prison, observing the many villains locked away, most of them metahumans.
But he wasn't here for just anyone. He was here for Livewire. Because he wanted her to kill him.
(A/N: Picture MC like how you might picture a girl with some abandonment problems or something like that. Best yet, picture Baby 5 from the anime One Piece. MC is pretty much like that, but towards those who truly care for him. It's his weakness.
At the end of the day, when he has given up on himself, the fact that someone hasn't and still cares for him makes things complex for him. Another reason he flew away from Batwoman and the others wasn't simply because he was scared of mentally breaking them. But also because he was scared that he might make them lose hope in him.
I like reading your commits even though I might not always reply, so go ahead, give me your theories. How will MC become a part-time villain? Would the MC be saved? Who is Nobody?)
