Chapter 10 - The Awakening

As Nuel knelt down before the altar with his murderous intent aura swirling round about him, his mind reeled back to the conversation he had had with Victor Valtor moments before they were ushered into the auditorium.

"They never saw you as one of them, Nuel. The Philikio family only kept you around because you have something in you which has to be annihilated."

"What do you mean by that? I am just a mere hunter, what do I possess that could possibly bring death closer to me?" Nuel asked with confusion boldly written all over his face.

Victor Valtor walked towards an oval shaped standing mirror, allowing the ladies-in-wait to drap his holy regalia over his shoulder.

About five ladies began to tend to him, preparing him for the awakening ritual of Nuel Ainsworth and other students of the Valtor's academy that had reached the stage of awakening.

"You know something, don't you? There is more to why the Philikio family wants me dead, is there not?" Nuel continued as he couldn't ponder on Victor Valtor's sudden silence.

"We barely got your aunt Zixuan back alive from the hospital, all thanks to Khaos. Khaos managed to slip away with your aunt before the arrival of the Don of the Philikio family and his henchmen arrived at the hospital that night." Victor Valtor said, changing the subject of discuss.

"They had it all planned out and the phone call you received that evening was a distraction to get you away from your aunt.

They needed you to kill the woman you were with and apparently, she was a princess. The only surviving heir of the Slytherin lineage."

"Slytherin lineage? Are they not…" Nuel tried to say, his brows etching in a worry curve.

"Yes, you're right. Her name was Eve and she is the princess of the demon clan. A clan banished into the ethereal meander, almost forgotten.

Everything that has happened appeared in the prophecy our ancestors had received eons of years ago.

The world ending ten days ago was not least expected, it just happened earlier than we could curtail and this is a propaganda made by the Don of the Philikio family with you being the most important ingredient."

"A propaganda?" Nuel asked again, his curiosity building up like a sand tower.

"That… Nuel…" Victor Valtor paused. "I cannot tell you about that now as it is still a matter being deliberated in the council of elders."

Nuel frowned at this, holding himself back to the very core because he was aware Victor Valtor was hiding a lot of things from him and he needed answers to satiate his infested mind.

He hurled his fists beside him again, a defiant look striking a cord with Victor Valtor's gaze in the mirror.

"Tell me, who am I?"

"Nuel…"

"What does my existence have to do with the prophecy that was made alive even before I was born?"

Victor Valtor lowered his head a little to match the height of the girl tending to his hair. She added an ointment of silver tone to his hair and carefully combed through his silky plush hair.

Nuel was infuriated at the constant silence Victor Valtor was dousing him in. He needed to know the situation of past happenings and what was to come.

Why the prestigious family he had dedicated almost all his life serving would suddenly betray him, turning their back against him in the most gruesome way possible.

Handling him over to the cold hands of death might have been fair enough, but wanting to take his aunt Zixuan was unacceptable.

He was also curious to find out the details of the prophecy and what it had to do with him.

The ladies-in-wait after crowning Victor Valtor in all his priestly regalia all took a bow, standing away from him as he turned at Nuel.

He carefully placed his hand on Nuel's shoulder and said to him,

"Time, Nuel. All you need is time and everything that is happening will make sense to you soon enough. For now, you have to know that what is coming for you is stronger than you can imagine."

"But first, you have to get back to the family you used to work for because they know you are still very much alive and they are coming for you!"

***

A serving lord and lordess who had their eyes covered with purple blindfolds that had an insignia of a gold cross walked in after Victor Valtor had mounted the podium.

They both walked towards Victor Valtor from opposite directions, bearing holy relics in their hands which two other assistants quickly took charge of, allowing the holy servants to take out the content of the holy box.

The first relic was a pulsating gem that contained the essence of powerful creatures of the world and also from diverse dimensions who had come to being before the existence of time.

The second relic, the staff of the first mage. A legendary staff crafted by the first mage who ever existed.

Both relics were handed to Victor Valtor, who blessed it before making a declaration in ancient druid language, shaking the very essence of mana in the auditorium as it awakened unseen forces into reality.

Nuel closed his eyes, allowing himself to sink into the very fabric of arousing magic. Bit by bit, he could feel multiple energies attaching themselves to his soul.

"Aethereia khaira oskhar, kaelos zha'neth solari. Nyxoria kalesh daraki, erebus khaira ankhiala." Victor Valtor chanted.

The wind howled dangerously as he made these incantations. The relics in his hands glistened at every word of his mouth.

The torches lighting the entire auditorium went out, honoring the power being summoned forth.

"Let the heavens tremble, let the earth quake, In the name of all that is, I call upon the latent power within you, Nuel Ainsworth."

With a wide stretch, both relics forced their way out of Victor Valtor's grip, aligning a formation array around Nuel.

"Rise!"

"Awaken!"

Nuel could feel his entire being evolve to nothing. The fabric of his existence churned as he felt a wild whirl of mana pool up within him.

His countenance changed within a minute, his eyes glowing with a fierce flame-like blue aura. His body got suspended in the air as the arrays covered him like a dome.

Inside the dome, a thousand mythical creatures raged around Nuel who was oblivious to what was happening around him as he had transcended into another realm far from reality.

The chaos drawn by his awakening in the chapel moved the very foundation of the auditorium, forcing some weaklings to scream and scurry away to keep their heads safe while the curious once battled with the strong force of mana pooling around chapel.

The charade of whirlwind slipped out, flapping his hair into fluttering paces and lifting the short skirts of the girls up to their inner thighs, forcing them to scream as they tried to hide their modesty.

Victor Valtor and the two holy servants were standing defiantly within the chaos, only the fragment of their regalias were reckoning with the whirlwind.

Finally, the chaos began to subside, bringing Nuel back to his feet slowly with a mythical creature in the form of a glistening yellow aura standing like a giant eagle behind him, perhaps much more than just an eagle.
