Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Last Crisis

White lights fill the space, blue electricity shrieks in the air.

The force of thunder slams on the Crisis, sending it flying into the building block, breaking all the structure on the way.

Concrete and debris fall down, bury it under the pile of rubble.

The entire body of the Flying Saurus convulses, its muscles spasm uncontrollably. It wants to get out and fly away, but the Shocking effect of the Thunderbolt stunned it severely.

The only thing it can move is its head. The Sarus punches its beak up to dig out a hole in the rubble.

It screams dreary for its life, blue electricity runs across its body.

It is able to create a hole for its head to poke out. But there stands a shadow figure it has never seen before.

Blaze holds the Destruction Wand forward, pointing the tip directly at the Crisis' face.

Then he starts blasting.

The blue energy of Force Shocker pours out like a waterfall, entering the bone wand.

Blue lightning strikes the Saurus again and again, repeatedly and relentlessly.

The deafening noises of lightning take over the entire area.

Blue lights flicker one after another. Lightning strikes smash the bird like hammer slamming on a nail.

The smell of burning flesh fills the air.

William gets closer to Blaze from behind. He wonders if he attacks the creature, will he be able to kill it.

But the thought causes William to be in pain immediately. A symbol lights up in the middle of his forehead.

William falls down to the ground, crumbling in anguish.

Blaze does not look back and continues to blast the Crisis. He will not stop until he sees the System notification.

[You have gained 100 experience points!]

And there it is.

[Mission progress is updated!]

[Mission: Escape the Void

- (Optional) Eliminate all the power sources of the Voidgate. Progress: 99.99%

- Sub reward: Equipment Blindbox (Rare)]

[The Flying Saurus has dropped x1 Dinosaur's Core, x1 Pair of Dinosaur Wings, x30 Dinosaur's Feather]

[Detecting your Inventory cannot store all the items!]

[Stop delivering items to Inventory]

The Flying Saurus disintegrates into nothingness, leaving a blue pearl, a huge pair of blue wings, and a lot of feathers.

After putting the Half Wolf's Core inside the Inventory, Blaze has only one grid to store items.

[INVENTORY]

1. [Snake's Core]

2. [Half Wolf's Core]

3. [x10 Jade Scale]

4. [x30 Snake Flesh]

5. [Berserker's Blood]

6. [Diamond Skin]

7. [Sun Bird]

8. [Empty]

The rest of the items Blaze is currently equipping or storing on his clothes.

The Tattered Cloak, Destruction Wand, and Grappling Hook are equipped. The Matchbox is in his pocket.

I should find a backpack to take something out. I should leave two grids to receive the reward also.

Blaze thinks. The Escape the Void mission provides a Superpower Blindbox (E-rank) and an Equipment Blindbox (Rare). Two more items need to be stored inside the Inventory.

Blaze turns back and sees William on the ground. He feels whatever William was thinking, so the slave mark instantly kicked in to protect its master.

Blaze flicks his hand, stopping the punishment.

William gets up immediately and slams his head on the ground repeatedly.

"Forgive me, Master! Forgive me! I don't know what I'm thinking!"

"Stop. I don't care. Go find a backpack or anything that can be used to store items. It needs to be big enough."

"I understand, Master! Please wait for me!"

William's feet fire up, and he flies away.

Blaze really doesn't care what William wants to do. He is only useful now to help him save Alyson when the time comes. After that, it still will be eternity burning for him.

It is a deserving punishment for a monster like William. He has ruined the lives of many girls, most of them were only students at Akansa High.

Blaze sits down on the rubble.

He takes out the Berserker's Blood, Diamond Skin, a bunch of green Jade Scale and puts it on the ground.

What even is the purpose of these items? Can you answer me this question, System?

The System is kind of unreliable. It won't answer him all the time and only gives very short statements. It also doesn't answer him this time.

These items look like materials. Maybe I can use them to make things?

I should examine them more closely when I have the time.

There is a more important matter at hand, though.

Blaze now has four empty grids in the Inventory. He puts the Dinosaur's Core and the giant pair of blue wings inside.

The Core is valuable, and Blaze won't feel safe leaving it outside. The wing is too large to store in any type of storage apart from the diametric cube, which he does not possess at the moment.

The thirty Dinosaur's Feathers are small enough to stuff in a container, so he leaves it outside.

But why am I still here? Preston said when all the power sources are eliminated, Awakeners should be teleported back immediately.

This can only mean one thing.

There is still a Crisis out there.

This theory seems the most possible for Blaze. But he has no intention of finding it.

Waiting more time will push Alyson into danger, and God knows where the last Crisis can be. He decides to just go straight to the Voidgate.

William runs back after a couple of minutes. He finds a couple of backpacks and even a suitcase.

The guy is obviously terrified and is trying his best to impress Blaze.

"Put the items on the floor into a backpack. Then you can return to the Clone Storage."

"Yes, master!"

William quickly stuffs everything into a backpack.

The scales and the feathers take most of the space. The Diamond Skin is a bit too large, but William rolls it into a scroll and ties it to the side of the backpack via a rope.

"Good job. You can go."

"Wait, Master! I saw something on the way back! You may want to see it."

"Is it far?"

"No, only a few minutes from here."

"Lead the way, then."

William carries the backpack and runs in the front. He seems very energetic.

After they are gone for a few minutes, people start coming out from the building.

There are actually quite a few people around, almost hundreds of them.

The area around the radio tower is the center of the city, most of the Awakened should be here.

"Did you see that?"

"I did! What a terrifying lightning power! It destroys the entire C-block."

"Did anyone see the hero's face?"

"Superheroes don't reveal their faces, idiot!"

"Hey, that's not true. Some do!"

The Liberty Sons join the party a little too late. When they arrive, all they can see is the people gossiping.

"Lightning power? It must be that shadow creature again."

Anya says.

"It is possible." Preston nods. "It took out a Crisis also."

"Why does a Crisis kill a Crisis?"

Batrick scratches his head.

"They too want to become stronger." Preston answers. "It is a rare sight to see in the Mirror, but in the deeper layer of the Void, it is common knowledge that the monsters will try to kill each other to gain power."

"Wait! The bird monster is dead. But we are still here. Does that mean..."

Anya says.

"I think so too, Anya. There may be another Crisis somewhere. Or maybe it is the shadow creature.

Whatever it is, my decision is to leave through the Voidgate immediately.

Anyone want to object?"

Preston says.

None of them is confident in killing the Wraith. It may even kill them in return. And it is probably the last Crisis.

The Liberty Sons don't want to die pointlessly and all agree to follow their captain back to the real world.
