Chapter 2 - Replacement

Talos was sleeping in his bed, wrapped around four white wings that sprouted from his back, until the annoying and familiar sound of his alarm clock forced him to abandon his dream world.

Talos had short black hair, like his just opened eyes, and an earring shaped like a ring in his left ear. If you looked at him closely, he could be considered moderately handsome. Other than that, there was nothing particularly special about him; he often thought of himself as ordinary when looking in the mirror, and in the end, the only extraordinary thing he could say about himself was that he was an angel, but that was definitely not something to mention lightly.

These monologues about his appearance were swirling in Talos's head as he fixed his hair, anxious and worried about the meeting he had later.

"Seriously, what's wrong with me, this fucking anxiety, but most of all, why the hell did I accept this?"

He put his hands on his head and stood in front of the sink for five minutes, his head throbbing without actually having a fever.

At some point, the young angel, who seemed to be about 20 years old, recovered by splashing water on his face and headed toward the wardrobe. After about fifteen minutes, Talos was dressed in a suit and tie, round sunglasses on, chewing gum in the mouth, and wearing headphones, ready for another terrible day in Miracolo.

The massive metropolis was called many things, like Eden, Utopia, the only city in the world, and various other silly names. This was because it was truly the only existing country, founded a long time ago when the tectonic plates came together into a single landmass with mountains.

Later, Talos, calmed by his favorite songs, arrived in front of a building not very large compared to the city's skyscrapers, which to the eyes of the people was just a particular structure under the custody of the government. This building had, in fact, been assigned to angels and demons by the members of the shadow government, the only ones who knew about their existence.

Before entering, Talos looked around.

"I may have the shape of a human, but entering here always gives me the feeling that something shady is going on."

Sighing, Talos took a step, passed through the door, and walked to an office.

In the office, there were two notable people: one was a massive man whom Talos knew well, the [angel of respect], the one who had given his speech at the funeral. The other person, however, he had never seen before, but just by noticing the long golden hair and the horns, he understood who they were: the replacement.

As soon as he entered, a big smile appeared on the face of the imposing angel.

"Welcome, [angel of humanity]."
