Chapter 7 - First Kiss, Zixue

I took out a book titled "Detailed Explanation of Elementary Wind Magic" from the elementary magic bookshelf. It was really a thick one. I opened the table of contents and took a look. It was indeed quite comprehensive, including several major sections such as the general introduction to wind magic, how to use wind magic, the complete collection of elementary wind magic, and the uses and examples of elementary wind magic.

I found a place with good lighting and sat down, reading with great relish. Wind magic turned out to be rather simple. It involved stimulating the wind elements in nature through specific incantations to achieve the caster's desired objectives, provided that one possessed a certain level of magical power and spiritual strength.

I attempted to recite: "Free wind, heed my command and condense into a shield to fend off the intrusion. —— Air Shield." As soon as I finished the incantation, I felt the air current in front of me accelerate abruptly, forming an invisible air wall. My interest was instantly piqued. It seemed that I could also wield magic from other elements, which was truly excellent.

I spent an entire day practicing all the elementary wind magic spells, and I could basically handle them with ease. At the stairway, I wasn't sure when someone had brought me meals and water. After finishing my meal, I peeked through the gap of the blower and saw that it was already dark outside. The lighting here mainly relied on the magic stones for illumination. I cast the elementary wind magic spell of the flying technique on myself and quickly circled around the eighth floor of the library. It was an exhilarating experience! Although it was called the flying technique, it wasn't actual flight but rather an acceleration magic spell that enhanced movement speed.

Since I couldn't damage the items here, I didn't dare to experiment with offensive magic. After playing around for a while longer, I stopped and recited the incantations of the elementary wind magic several times over, ceasing only when I was certain I wouldn't forget them. In fact, what I didn't know was that the Heavenly Demon Technique itself was a method of cultivating magical power. I had already been practicing it for four years. Although I was only at the second level, my magical power had reached the realm of a senior magician, which was why I could effortlessly use the elementary wind magic.

Anyway, since I had already mastered the elementary wind magic, I decided to give it a try and see if I could use magic from other elements. I retrieved another elementary fire magic book from the bookshelf...

In this way, I practiced magic during the day and my Heavenly Demon Technique at night. It took me five days to master all the elementary magic of the four elements: wind, fire, earth, and water. However, I simply couldn't get a handle on light magic. I was utterly unable to control the light elements. I surmised that it might be due to some conflict with my Heavenly Demon Technique. Oh well, I was already quite content with having learned so much magic.

Now that I had learned all the elementary magic of the four elements, I began to tackle the intermediate magic. Incidentally, let me explain that on the continent, magic is categorized into ten levels. There are three levels of elementary magic, three levels of intermediate magic, three levels of advanced magic, and the tenth level of magic is the forbidden spell.

When I started learning intermediate magic, I encountered obstacles. I could barely cast the fourth-level magic spells, but after using a few of them, I felt extremely weak all over and couldn't focus my mind. As for the fifth and sixth-level magic spells, I simply couldn't use them at all. Perhaps my magical power had reached its limit. Since I couldn't practice them, I decided to jot them all down first. As my magical power increased in the future, I could practice them again. It took me half a month to memorize all the magic spells of the four elements from level 1 to level 9 in the library, preparing to practice them gradually when my magical power improved.

Before I knew it, I had been here for more than 20 days. These more than 20 days were of utmost importance to me, enabling me to make significant breakthroughs in magic. Due to my daily concentration on studying magic, my Heavenly Demon Technique finally broke through the second level and advanced to the third level. Once I could complete the third level, I would be able to transform into a fallen angel, which would represent a qualitative leap.

I had already committed all the magic spells to memory. To ensure that I wouldn't forget them, I spent another two days reviewing them several times. Judging by human standards, I could now be regarded as a senior magician.

After practicing magic for nearly a month, I felt that my senses had become much more acute than before. It was much easier for me to focus my attention, and I could now utilize some of the dark magic spells that I couldn't use previously.

Improving my magic further wasn't something that could be accomplished overnight. With two months remaining, I decided to see if there was any martial art suitable for me.

Learning martial arts wasn't as straightforward as practicing magic. I spent two days searching for a martial art that suited me, but the ones I could understand were all relatively basic. However, I couldn't make sense of the advanced ones, and they mainly emphasized techniques. This truly put me in a bind. Martial arts were fundamental to me. Given the powerful physique of my Beamon clan, it would be a great pity if I didn't learn advanced martial arts.

I lay on the ground, gazing blankly at the ceiling. What on earth should I learn? Suddenly, when I turned my head, I noticed that there seemed to be something beneath a bookshelf in the corner. As it was obscured by the bookshelf's shadow, I couldn't see it clearly.

Out of curiosity, I walked over and unearthed a dusty iron box under the bookshelf. There were three prominent large characters engraved on it —— "Kuang Shen Jue". I opened the iron box, and inside was a yellowed book. The title of the book was, unmistakably, "Kuang Shen Jue". My heart began to pound. Just from the name, I could tell that this was a secret manual. I opened the first page, which was written in large characters. The title was the General Outline of Kuang Shen Jue: Kuang Shen Jue, also known as Ba Huang Jue, is the most powerful mental method of martial arts. It can be practiced regardless of one's previous learning. This cultivation method is a unique type of battle qi based on developing one's own potential. Those with unsteady wills should refrain from practicing it, those with weak meridians should not practice it, those who cannot go berserk should avoid it, and women should not practice it.

I turned the page. It was inscribed that if one lacked the berserk constitution, the body would be unable to withstand the supreme power of Kuang Shen Jue. Once one managed to master it, one would be burst apart and perish due to the battle qi rushing through the body. Exercise extreme caution, exercise extreme caution. Those with unsteady wills, when practicing this, would be controlled by the formidable force and go insane. Those who practice this technique must exercise self-control and not be bloodthirsty. Otherwise, it will spiral out of control and ultimately lead to death from going berserk.

Kuang Shen Jue is divided into twelve layers in total. The first layer is the most challenging, as it involves transforming the original cultivation method into Kuang Shen Jue. The book states that if one cannot transform the original cultivation method into Kuang Shen Jue and master the first layer within a year, one should not persist in forcing oneself to practice.

What followed were the cultivation methods. This cultivation method seemed highly suitable for me to practice. After all, I was capable of going berserk. This was excellent. I had finally discovered a martial art that suited me.

Excitedly, I commenced practicing according to the words in the book. I circulated the power of the original Tian Lei Xie Jia technique along the route of Kuang Shen Jue. An hour elapsed, and I roused from my meditation, sweating profusely. I hurled the book away and cursed angrily, "What kind of lousy martial art is this? It's simply impossible to practice." When I was practicing earlier, the meridians through which the power coursed ached excruciatingly, and I had only circulated through one-tenth of the meridians. If I persisted in forcing myself to practice, there was a risk of the meridians bursting.

Should I give up? Upon seeing how remarkable it was described in the book, I felt a twinge of reluctance. I retrieved the book and perused it carefully once more. It is written that as long as one can successfully complete it within one week. (a full cycle of the circulation of qi in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts cultivation), the first layer would be deemed completed. So, I had already accomplished one-tenth of the first layer just then. This realization restored some of my lost confidence.

I took a deep breath, calmed the surging qi and blood in my body, and began anew according to the cultivation method. The meridians that I had previously circulated through were swiftly traversed. A searing pain resurfaced when I reached the one-tenth mark. I gritted my teeth and persevered, edging forward a little further before halting when I could no longer bear it.

This time, I refrained from throwing the book away. I pondered that if I continued in this manner and could progress a little each time, I should still be able to practice it. Let's take a breather first.

Lying on the ground, I turned the pages backward and read. The book described: After mastering the first layer, one can emit the battle qi externally, which can be employed for both offense and defense. Attached: The first form of Kuang Shen Fist —— Stormy Onslaught. Stormy Onslaught entails striking the ground with the battle qi of Kuang Shen Jue, transforming the surrounding ground into countless particles for all-round attacks, and it is most suitable for situations of being besieged. Below are the methods of applying strength... After fully mastering it, one can control the ground within a radius of 15 meters with one's body as the center, and freely cause the ground within the controlled range to burst and scatter for attacks.

Judging from the description in the book, it was truly formidable. If I could master it, I wouldn't be daunted by being besieged or the opponent's techniques. Haha.

This time, Kuang Shen Jue had already piqued my intense interest. I took a deep breath, sat cross-legged once more, and initiated practicing Kuang Shen Jue for the third time. In this fashion, I repeatedly challenged the meridians in my body. One month elapsed, and astonishingly, I breached 99% of the meridians. As long as I made the final breakthrough, I could complete the cultivation of the first layer.

However, the reality proved that the first layer of Kuang Shen Jue was by no means facile to master. Another ten days had passed,And I still couldn't overcome that final obstacle to establish a Zhou Tian (complete cycle) circulation. I slumped against the bookshelf dejectedly and struck the floor forcefully (without using battle qi).

"Ouch." A book tumbled off the bookshelf and landed squarely on my head. I cursed angrily, "Damn it! Even this lousy book is picking on me."

I scooped up the book from the floor. The cover read "Apocalypse of Continental Military Affairs". It turned out to be a military book, and upon seeing this book, I suddenly recalled that one of my primary objectives for coming here was to surreptitiously learn the art of war of humans. Yet, I hadn't availed myself of this opportunity in the library despite having such a prime chance. It had already been over two months. Time was of the essence, and the task was pressing.

I promptly reopened that book. After flipping through a few pages, I was entranced by the content on it. Perhaps I was innately a warlike individual. Perusing the successful battle examples and the strategies and tactics delineated in the book, I was deeply captivated.

In this manner, I perused one book on the art of war after another. I didn't expect myself to fathom the strategies of these renowned generals. Merely memorizing them sufficed. These things should be the most precious for the orcs. As long as they could be applied adeptly, they would undoubtedly play a significant role.

Ten days later, I sensed that my memory had reached its zenith. I simply couldn't commit any more information to memory. I couldn't push myself any further. With what I had remembered thus far, I could already consider the task accomplished. I had been memorizing this and that these days, and my head was throbbing from all the memorization.

Today, I wouldn't read anything. I would practice Kuang Shen Jue during the day and the Heavenly Demon Technique at night. I might as well regard it as a day of rest. I purged all distracting thoughts from my mind and concentrated intently on practicing Kuang Shen Jue. The true qi flowed smoothly through the previously opened meridians, but as soon as it reached that final juncture, the pain was excruciating. If I couldn't break through it, all my previous efforts would be in vain. Come what may, I had to overcome the pain today.

I made the true qi course back and forth through the opened meridians to render the meridians even more unobstructed. The pivotal moment finally arrived. I concentrated all my strength in the middle section of the meridian circulation route, and then propelled this energy with all my might, much like taking a running start in the meridians. I continuously propelled it to the zenith of its speed and charged forward towards the final barrier without hesitation.

There was a resounding "boom" within my body. An overwhelming and unbearable pain assailed every part of my body. All the energy in my body ground to a halt. I felt as if my meridians were splitting asunder. My body convulsed for a while, and then I lost consciousness.

It hurt terribly, terribly. "Ah!" I jolted awake. Could it be that the attempt to break through the meridians just now was a dream? My body felt swollen, as if my muscles had all bulked up. The world before my eyes seemed more vivid and vibrant than ever. I scanned the surroundings, and to my amazement, I could effortlessly distinguish the textures on the bookshelves over 20 meters away. My heart skipped a beat with joy. Could it be that I had triumphed and mastered the first layer of Kuang Shen Jue? I noticed that my clothes were completely saturated with sweat and emanated an unpleasant odor, so I hastened to the toilet to wash them. When I was washing myself, I discovered that my entire body's skin was actually a vivid red and glistening, and I was at a loss as to what was happening. (What I didn't know was that since I had finally broken through the last meridian, the true qi circulated repeatedly in my body, cleansing my marrow and purging all the impurities in my body. All the capillaries in my body were engorged, which was why my body turned red. It would revert to normal on its own after a period of time.)

I returned to the bookshelf donning the damp clothes, sat cross-legged, and tentatively activated the battle qi of Kuang Shen Jue. The speed at which the battle qi circulated was actually threefold faster than before. When it reached the final barrier, it passed through with ease, and a wave of comfort washed over my body. It seemed that the battle qi had increased slightly. I had truly made it. No, I had to practice it several more times to solidify my achievement.

In this way, I entered a state of meditation. In accordance with the operation method of Kuang Shen Jue, I practiced a full 49 cycles. The true qi in my body was brimming, and I experienced an indescribable sense of comfort. There seemed to be a warlike yearning within the battle qi of Kuang Shen Jue driving me on.

I drew a deep breath and channeled the completed battle qi back into my dantian. I opened my eyes and felt an inexhaustible wellspring of energy coursing through my body. With a slight nudge, the battle qi immediately concentrated where I willed it to go according to my intention. This sensation was truly wonderful.

I peered out of the window at the sky. It was already nighttime. My clothes had long since dried, and it seemed that a considerable amount of time had elapsed. I stretched leisurely and was truly eager to throw a few punches to gauge the power of Kuang Shen Jue.

Suddenly, my stomach rumbled. I was ravenously hungry. I had only skipped one day of meals. Why was I so famished? I hastened to the stairs. Fortunately, tonight's meal was still there. I wolfed it down to satiate my hunger. Tonight, I resolved not to practice anymore. I had made such substantial progress, and I also needed to afford myself some rest.

...

The following day, upon waking up in the morning, I calculated that there were probably still around ten days before the restriction was lifted. I spent two days reviewing the magic spells and military theories I had committed to memory like a revolving lantern. During the review process, I discovered that my memory was rather commendable, and I had essentially not forgotten the things I had memorized.

Since I mastered the first layer of Kuang Shen Jue, I've noticed that the speed at which my magical power condenses is significantly faster than before. How could this be? Could it be related to my breaking through the meridians while practicing Kuang Shen Jue? If things continue in this vein, perhaps I'll be able to complete the third layer before long. To be candid, I'm truly looking forward to transforming into a fallen angel. Because it can endow me with formidable power.

One day, I was practicing Kuang Shen Jue when suddenly I heard footsteps approaching from the stairs. How could anyone be here? It wasn't even the meal delivery time. Didn't the vice dean say that students weren't permitted to come up here easily? (In fact, most of the books on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors of the library can also be found on the lower floors, but the ones downstairs are all copies, while most of the books on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors are original works, which possess high collection value and are tantamount to the college's treasure trove of books.)

I dashed to the stairway and bellowed, "Who dares to trespass on the forbidden area?"

The vice dean's tall figure emerged on the stairs and grinned, "You've turned into the library caretaker, and you're quite conscientious about it."

I said sheepishly, "Why are you here? According to my calculation, there are still six days left, right?"

The vice dean regarded me The vice dean regarded me in surprise and said, "What are you talking about? The time is already up. It's been exactly three months today. Could it be that you've become addicted to staying here?"

I was stunned upon hearing his words. The time was up? How could that be? I was certain I hadn't remembered it wrong. Could it be that I had practiced Kuang Shen Jue in a meditative state for seven days that day?

The vice dean said, "A few days ago, the librarian informed me that you hadn't eaten for several days. Did you spend those days in cultivation?"

I said, "Maybe. I'm not sure how long I practiced in meditation that time."

"Spending an extended period in meditation is a good thing. Well, come on, let's head back. You're not allowed to take any books from here out privately."

I said, "Okay, give me a moment. I'll tidy up." Not allowed to take things out privately? How could that be? I could leave other things behind, but I absolutely had to take out my Kuang Shen Jue. I quickly rushed inside and stuffed Kuang Shen Jue into my bosom. Fortunately, he didn't search me. Just like that, I trailed the vice dean out of the library.

Once outside, I took a deep breath of the fresh outdoor air. Bathed in the bright sunlight, my entire body felt warm and cozy. I felt like a bird released from its cage. From now on, I would be able to roam freely in the vast world.

"Was this period of time rather dull for you? I can tell that you've changed a great deal compared to when you went in. You must have gained a lot, right?"

I said sincerely, "Yes, I've acquired a great deal of knowledge in the library. I truly appreciate your cultivation and support for me."

The vice dean said, "There's no need to say such things to me. It's all the fruit of your own efforts. You're a good kid, eager to make progress. You should study diligently in the college from now on. Currently, the four major colleges are in fierce competition. I hope you can bring more honor to our college. You have a solid foundation. Do you know why I violated the regulations and allowed you to go to the library for advanced studies?"

I looked at him with a puzzled expression and said, "I have no idea."

He gave me a profound look and said, "Because you possess exceptional talent. You're the first person I've ever encountered who can wield intermediate dark magic at such a tender age. Generally, dark magicians don't achieve any accomplishments until they're well into their old age, and most of them primarily focus on other types of magic. I'm truly astonished that you can reach this level through self-study. And what pleases me the most is that I can see that you're an upright kid, unafraid of power and daring to stand up to noble students. So I intend to cultivate you to become an outstanding figure among the new generation of students and strive to become a dragon knight in the future. I'm convinced that you can definitely make it."

I thought to myself, I wonder what he would think if he knew I was a spy sent by the orc tribe. But on my lips, I said, "Thank you for placing so much trust in me. I will definitely not let you down."

The vice dean smiled contentedly and said, "Take a day off today and resume your classes tomorrow. It seems that your class teacher holds you in high regard. He's asked me for you several times. Don't disclose to anyone the fact that I've confined you in the library. This is against the regulations. Only I and the dean are aware of it. Do you understand?"

I nodded and said, "Don't worry. Since you've been so kind to me, how could I cause you any trouble?"

"That's good. Return to your dormitory. I'm going back to my office."

After parting ways with the vice dean, instead of going back to the dormitory, I made my way to the stable to visit my black dragon. As soon as I reached the outside of the stable, I heard a silvery, bell-like laugh emanating from within.

Who could be laughing here? Was it Zixue? I stepped into the stable, and sure enough, it was her. She was hugging the black dragon's massive head, and the black dragon was licking her with its large tongue. She was dodging while laughing. It seemed that she had developed a very good rapport with the black dragon. She was truly a kind-hearted little girl. I was really grateful to her for taking care of feeding the black dragon these days.

The black dragon detected my arrival first and happily snorted at me. When Zixue turned around and saw me, her face flushed crimson instantly. She said bashfully, "You're back."

I nodded at her, walked over to the black dragon, and stroked its big head, saying, "You glutton. You've eaten quite a bit recently, haven't you? You've even put on some weight."

Zixue lowered her head and said, "It's all my fault. I fed it too much."

I smiled at her and said, "How could I blame you? Thanks to you for feeding it these days while I was away. Thank you."

It was the first time Zixue had seen me smile, and she seemed a bit flustered as she said, "You're welcome. Where have you been these days?"

Looking at her shy and adorable appearance, I said, "Because of what happened last time, the vice dean imposed a three-month confinement on me. And today, the confinement period has just expired, so he released me."

"It's all my fault. You've endured a great deal of grievances because of me." Her head hung even lower.

I let out a gentle sigh and said, "No, I should be thanking you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had this opportunity."

She asked curiously, "What opportunity?"

Only then did I realize that I had slipped up. I quickly tried to make amends and said, "Ah, I meant that during this confinement, I dedicated three months to intense cultivation and made significant progress in my skills. So I want to express my gratitude to you. Are you interested in taking a stroll with me and the black dragon?"

Excitement flashed across her eyes, but it quickly faded. She said, "It's better not to. If others see us, they'll create trouble for you again."

Upon hearing her words, a cold glint flashed in my eyes. I snorted coldly and said, "Who's afraid of them? Even if they don't come looking for me, I'll go and settle the score with them. I'm not afraid, so what are you worried about? Are you coming or not?"

She looked at me as I regained my cold and aloof demeanor. A look of bewilderment flashed in her eyes, and she involuntarily said, "I'll go." Only after she uttered the words did she realize what she had said, and a fresh blush adorned her beautiful face.

I smiled faintly and lifted her onto the back of the black dragon, eliciting a cry of surprise from her. I said, "Let's head outside the city. The black dragon can't move freely within the city."

She furrowed her brow and said, "But the college doesn't permit students to go out without permission."

I smiled enigmatically and said, "We can sneak out. Just follow me." (The author's note: It's simply abduction of a minor girl.)

I led the black dragon to the three-meter-high courtyard wall and said to her, "Mount the black dragon and close your eyes." With my protection, she successfully settled onto the black dragon's back. Since Zixue had been feeding it daily, the black dragon didn't resist at all this time. Zixue obediently shut her lovely big eyes. I secretly cast a flying spell on myself to reduce the burden of my weight. I gave the black dragon's belly a push with both hands and bellowed, "Up!" I hoisted the black dragon up, then pushed hard with my legs and soared into the air with a swoosh. I stepped on the courtyard wall in mid-air to gain momentum and smoothly floated out of the college.

Zixue felt as if she were soaring through the clouds. When she opened her eyes, she was already outside the college. I leaped onto the dragon's back and said to her, "Hold on tight. We're about to set off." Zixue quickly grasped the crossbeam. I nudged the black dragon's belly with my legs, and the black dragon dashed forward understandingly, causing Zixue to close her eyes again in fright.

I quickly led Zixue out of the city gate and into the countryside. The black dragon rarely got the chance to come out, so it let out a joyful roar and gradually increased its speed to the maximum. The surrounding scenery flashed by at breakneck speed. Zixue nestled closely in my arms. Her little face turned pale due to fear. The strong wind whistling past my face brought an indescribable sense of exhilaration. After feeling that we had traveled a considerable distance, I signaled the black dragon to slow down. I lowered my head and said to the charming girl in my arms, "Okay, open your eyes. The speed has decreased."

Only then did Zixue open her lovely big eyes and discovered that she was pressed tightly against my chest, and one of my large hands was around her waist. She let out a soft moan of embarrassment and buried her face in my chest, too shy to look up. Her adorable actions made me burst into hearty laughter. I realized that I was starting to develop feelings for this lovely little girl.

I had the black dragon leisurely make its way back. Zixue gradually regained her composure and smiled, saying, "The air here is so refreshing. Look, those little birds over there are chirping so merrily. Lei Xiang, you know what? I like seeing you smile. You look so intimidating when you're cold and distant."

Her words stirred up the thoughts hidden deep in my heart. I let out a deep sigh and said, "If you had gone through my childhood, you would be just like me."

She looked at me with her big, watery eyes and said, "Can you tell me about it? You'll feel much better if you share it."

I shook my head and said, "Not yet. Maybe later. I'll tell you if I get the opportunity in the future."

Zixue, being sensible, didn't press the issue further and leaned against me. I gently encircled her slender waist and quietly relished this tranquil and warm moment.

Suddenly, another beautiful figure emerged in my mind. She was clad in a white nurse's uniform. Ah, it was Kelan. I hadn't seen her for three months. I wondered how she was faring. Just thinking of her lively demeanor made me want to smile. I had to find an opportunity to pay her a visit. After all, she had provided me with a glimmer of warmth when my heart was cold. But what about Zixue? I couldn't help feeling a bit perturbed. I realized that I couldn't bear to part with either of them.

Contemplating this, I couldn't help sighing inwardly. What was the use of dwelling on these thoughts? I didn't belong here. One day, I would have to return to the Orc Kingdom. I couldn't bring harm to them. It was impossible for me to be with them. A bitter taste welled up in my heart.

Zixue looked up at my handsome face and asked, "What's wrong? Are you thinking about something unpleasant again? By the way, do you know that today is my first time skipping class? I originally planned to go back to class after feeding the black dragon."

I smiled and said, "So you're a goody-two-shoes, huh?"

Zixue said, "Of course, I'm very well-behaved."

"Can I ask you a question?"

Zixue blinked her eyes and said, "Go ahead."

I asked calmly, "If, I mean if, one day I leave here and never return, what would you do?"

Zixue suddenly sat up straight, stared at me intently, her eyes welled up with tears, and glistening teardrops rolled down her cheeks. She looked at me without uttering a word.

I had never been in such a situation before, and I immediately became flustered. I asked nervously, "What's the matter with you?"

Zixue wept, "I... I'm already so close to you, and you don't want me? You're still asking me such a question."

I thought to myself, What do you mean 'so close'? I haven't done anything. But of course, I couldn't say that. I quickly said, "I just said 'if'. It's not real."

Zixue looked at me affectionately and said, "No matter where you go, I'll follow you." I really hadn't anticipated that the usually shy Zixue could express such a direct love confession. My heart was filled with warmth, and I pulled her into my arms and kissed her delicate lips passionately. She trembled a few times at first, and then closed her eyes, allowing me to kiss her.

I savored the sweetness in her mouth and was deeply intoxicated. After a long while, I released her and gazed into her dazed eyes with affection. Her cute little face was flushed, making her even more alluring.

I said to her firmly, "As long as you don't leave me, I'll take you with me wherever I go. This is my promise to you."

She nodded gently and said shyly, "You have to remember what you said." Then she leaned against my broad chest and closed her eyes.
