Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Battle with the Mankey

Chapter 14: Battle with the Mankey

Naturally, there were also Pokémon in the scenic area.

Even the cities of this era had many stray Pokémon, let alone the mountains.

However, the Pokémon in the scenic areas weren't all as cute as the domesticated ones.

The Pokémon mixed up in the cities at least knew to beg for food by acting cute, while in some scenic areas, many wild Pokémon with nasty personalities simply took it directly by force.

This phenomenon was especially obvious in the Moonwhisper Mountain area, which bordered the protected area.

The Pokémon here knew that as long as they hid in the protected area, humans couldn't do anything to them, so they acted wantonly and often boldly snatched food and even backpacks from tourists.

The makeup artist who was robbed desperately pleaded, "There's no food in it, please, give it back."

However, the Mankey that snatched the bag turned a deaf ear. It didn't run far away, but deliberately hung on a nearby tree, swinging the bag on its arm for fun. As it swung, many things in the bag spilled out, but the Mankey didn't care.

They didn't snatch the bag for the things inside; they were purely looking for fun.

Without the tools in the bag, the entire makeup work couldn't continue. The young makeup artist girl was almost crying with anxiety.

Most people around looked helpless.

Especially the scenic area staff, they saw this kind of thing almost every day and were used to it.

However, Arthur didn't tolerate this bad behavior of the Pokémon.

In the era he lived in the past, most wild Pokémon were enemies.

"Let's go, Froakie!"

He wasn't far from the robbed makeup artist. Seeing that the Mankey that snatched the bag didn't choose to run away, he directly called out to Froakie and led the way to chase after them.

Froakie responded quickly and followed.

In the sanctuary, Froakie was a belligerent character, often fighting with the Squirtle and Piplup from the same pond. He had never been afraid of fighting, on the contrary, he was quite enthusiastic.

Seeing the cheeky appearance of the Mankey, Froakie's fists were already clenched.

However, the Mankey were also very cunning.

Seeing someone chasing after them, they all retreated and ran towards the cliff. Soon they came to the edge of the cliff.

Seeing Arthur stop on the mountain road, not daring to chase any further, the Mankey that snatched the bag hung on a tree at the edge of the cliff and turned back to make faces provocatively.

The other Mankey gathered under the tree and shouted with the others, making a noisy sound.

Arthur was still relatively calm at this time, but Froakie couldn't take it anymore.

When had the little tyrant of the sanctuary pond ever been so humiliated?

"Ribbit!"

He puffed out his cheeks and made an exceptionally loud croaking sound, then charged forward at full speed.

Fortunately, at this time, Arthur used the psychic link to give him a timely command.

"Calm down! Have you forgotten what I taught you?! Can you beat them by just charging like that? Come back! Use Bubble first!"

After more than a week of getting along, Arthur's authority in Froakie's mind had already reached its peak, as majestic as a loving father.

This stern shout immediately suppressed his impulsive emotions, with immediate effect.

The action of charging halfway suddenly stopped.

At this moment, Froakie suddenly realized that he had almost plunged into the encirclement of the Mankey just now, scaring him into a cold sweat.

You know, the Mankey were Fighting-type Pokémon, especially good at close combat. If Froakie had mindlessly charged forward and was surrounded by a group of Mankey, one Froakie couldn't handle it, and he would inevitably get a beating...

Calming down, Froakie first took a deep breath in his mind, then quickly followed Arthur's order and retreated to create some distance.

Then, he puffed out his cheeks a second time and spat out the Water-type move: Bubble!

A series of fist-sized bubbles came out of Froakie's mouth, forming a line and shooting quickly at the Mankey chasing in front of him.

The Mankey under the tree had just seen Froakie retreat, and they followed up aggressively, swarming forward, but they were suddenly hit in the face by the "Bubble" move.

Don't underestimate these seemingly harmless soap bubbles. This was a Pokémon's move, and every Pokémon move inevitably contains the corresponding elemental energy. After it exploded, it was enough to cause considerable impact and corrosive damage, almost equivalent to a miniature acid bomb.

The Mankey, caught off guard and taking this move head-on, screamed repeatedly. Many of the hairs on their bodies were corroded, and their exposed skin was covered with red spots from the exploding bubbles.

Before the Water-type energy contained in the move dissipated, these bubbles and splashed droplets would continue to have a corrosive effect until the energy in them was exhausted or neutralized, and the bubbles would then revert to harmless pure water.

The same was true for other Water-type moves.

So don't think that the moves released by Water-type Pokémon are just pure water and can be taken easily. As a basic move, Bubble's damage is no less than the high-temperature "Ember" or the penetrating voltage of "Thunder Shock"!

Seeing the first round of "Bubble" move was successful, Arthur's subsequent commands immediately followed.

"Quick Attack towards the leftmost one, then use Lick on the one next to it, good! Retreat, continue using Bubble to suppress the other Mankey!"

The command was mainly through the psychic link given by the Poké Ball, but out of habit, Arthur still shouted out the commands.

After all, humans are more accustomed to using their mouths to speak.

Froakie constantly moved around under Arthur's command, using the move "Quick Attack" for rapid advances, always suppressing the group of Mankey in terms of speed and maneuverability.

Then, he took advantage of the fact that Fighting-type Pokémon lacked long-range moves in the early stages and repeatedly used "Bubble" for consumption and suppression.

For a time, the Mankey were so angry that they could only throw stones at Froakie.

Because they really couldn't catch up.

Unfortunately, the power of simple stones, no matter how powerful, couldn't compare to proper Pokémon moves.

Froakie became more and more excited and had more and more fun fighting under Arthur's command.

He constantly alternated between "Bubble," "Quick Attack," and "Lick," playing the entire group of six Mankey like a fiddle.

This battle not only boosted Froakie's confidence, but also made him more and more convinced by Arthur's command.

It also stunned the group of staff and Articuno Media employees who had come over to watch.

The Articuno Media employee who had just been complaining about why Arthur had insisted on becoming a trainer was now staring blankly at Froakie's 1V6 performance, his mouth wide open, and he turned his head to ask Eleanor Vance blankly.

"I remember you said, he bought this Froakie a little over a week ago?"

Eleanor Vance was equally shocked at this time, but most of her expression was blocked by a pair of sunglasses, making her seem unfathomable to outsiders.

She pushed her sunglasses up her nose bridge and calmly said, "Yes, I fronted him the money a little over a week ago."
