Chapter 26 - Humiliate Her

"That slut," Alexa insulted through gritted teeth. She turned to Hazel Freeman, who just walked majestically like nothing had just transpired. Like Harper Reed hadn't just disobeyed her.

"She thinks she can do whatever she wants? What does Logan Hayes even see in her?" she added, rolling her eyes, her arms folded against her chest.

"We need to teach her a lesson," Alexis commented, and Alexa nodded violently in response.

All the while, Hazel said nothing. The unidentical twins stopped walking and stared at Hazel, who had a sly smile on her lips.

On a regular basis, they'd smirk with her after seeing that smile, but they just couldn't. It was unbelievable that Hazel Freeman would smile after some nobody like Harper Reed was clinging to her Logan Hayes. The Logan Hayes was hers, so why did she look like she cared less now?

Upon realizing Alexa and Alexis had stopped walking, Hazel turned to them, the smile not fading. "Why'd you stop?" she asked nonchalantly, her brown eyes flickering from one face to another.

"Because we think something is actually wrong with you?" Alexa answered almost too sharply. A faint frown crossed Hazel's perfect face. "What are you talking about?"

"We just spoke to that slut, and she seemed to have disrespected you, and you're here acting like nothing actually happened?" Alexis explained, her eyes questioning Hazel.

A light chuckle, mixed with something faintly dark, escaped from Hazel's lips.

"Oh, that?" She giggled once more. "I've got something exciting for her. Care to accompany me, girls?"

Hearing that, the twins began grinning. "Should you even ask?" Alexa and Alexis said in unison before Alexa continued, "We're your partners in crime, girl."

"Who's ready to make tonight unforgettable for some slut?" Hazel asked, a glint of mischief in her eyes.

"Me!" the twins chorused.

The library buzzed with quiet whispers and rustling pages. Hazel Freeman strutted down the aisle like she owned the place, flanked by Alexa and Alexis, their heels clicking softly against the tiled floor.

Hazel turned to Alexis. "Where did you say she sits again?"

"She always sits at that back corner," Alexis answered just after the question, and Hazel's smirk deepened.

She was going to teach Harper Reed a lesson. Since she said she'd prefer all the worse things they had planned for her, she was supposed to prepare for this one.

"I'm so excited!" Alexa squealed, smiling from ear to ear.

Who could blame her?

She had missed this, and it had been long since they had a competition. And now Hazel was taking them back to high school life? She was more than excited.

"Let's make it memorable," Hazel added, a devilish smirk on her lips.

She pulled out a bottle of ketchup from her bag, and Alexa could not help but begin giggling under her breath.

"She's going to smell like a burger joint all day," Alexis murmured with a grin.

"Only that?" Alexa giggled. "She's going to be so embarrassed!"

Alexis and Hazel nodded in agreement.

Next, Alexis scanned the room. "Coast is clear."

"Let's do this," Alexa whispered, and then they proceeded.

In one smooth move, Hazel crouched by the chair and squeezed out a thick swirl of ketchup, the red mess soaking into the wooden seat.

"Perfect," she whispered, straightening up and passing the bottle back.

Receiving the bottle, Alexa grinned while Alexis was still looking out to check if someone had seen them.

"Interesting," Alexa commented, and Hazel nodded in agreement.

"And now she's going to see that I'm not to be joked with," Hazel Freeman spoke, her eyes gleaming with pure mischief.

"Okay, okay. Now let's go before someone sees us," Alexis warned, fixing her bag.

Hazel straightened her dress and nodded, a sign that they were done.

"But where can we hide to watch?" Alexa whined, pouting a little.

"We're not supposed to be seen, dummy," Hazel retorted sharply.

"But we must ensure she sits in it," Alexis reminded.

"She will. I just know," Hazel replied, flipping her ringlet curls while staring at something unseen.

She was satisfied that she was at least going to make Harper humiliated, and that made her happier than anything. If only Harper had listened.

Just then, Harper entered, unaware, her head buried in her phone.

"Perfect timing," Hazel said.

As Harper turned towards her seat, Hazel Freeman signaled her minions to move with her. Then she stepped forward and bumped into Harper lightly.

"Oh—watch it," Hazel said sweetly, steadying Harper with a fake smile.

"Sorry," Harper muttered, flustered.

She was surprised to see these three in the library.

What were they doing there?

"No worries," Alexa chimed in with a grin that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Have a good study session."

"..." Harper was speechless.

"Lemme tell you something real quick, yeah?" Hazel Freeman began, her tone sweet, tangled with something Harper couldn't define.

"I was always told to listen, and I did. And? It actually saved me countlessly. You should try that... Right, girls?" Hazel turned to the twins.

"Totally," Alexa was the first to speak, followed by Alexis, whose answer was a mere nod and a mysterious smirk.

"Catch you around, Harper Reed."

The trio walked off, giggling quietly as they disappeared around a corner.

Harper just stared at her retreating figure. A sigh escaped her lips. Thank God she was in the place that made her feel relaxed.

Harper plopped into her seat—splat.

Her eyes widened.

Something was wrong.

Terribly, disgustingly wrong.
