Harper found herself curious. The message he got made him feel a mixture of certain emotions she couldn't spell out. But she knew she wanted to know.
Would asking him who that was sound awkward?
They weren't even in an actual relationship.
Harper brushed it off. It was none of her business after all, right?
"Let's proceed, princess," Logan Hayes spoke. Harper nodded, and they continued walking.
Logan turned to her. Her expression betrayed her—she looked like she was thinking about something.
And she actually was.
The message.
"You know how they say curiosity kills the cat?" he drawled, his hands slipping into his pockets. "Don't be too curious, princess."
Harper turned to him.
How did he know? Was it written all over her face?
"Me? Curious?" she let out a forced laugh, which sounded awkward in the end. "W—why would you think that?" she stammered.
"I don't know, maybe it's your facial expression." Logan shrugged, a smirk playing on his kissable lips.
Tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, she asked, "What facial expression?"
Her palms turned clammy, fingers twitching at her sides.
"Do you really want me to demonstrate?" Logan questioned, cocking an eyebrow.
"No! Please don't," she said, her voice coming out sharper than she intended.
Logan chuckled.
"There's nothing funny," she blushed. "It's not like I even care." She rolled her eyes, yet the lovely pink hue on her cheeks never faded.
Logan turned to her the same moment she turned to him—
Wrong timing!
"Really?" he purred. Harper's heart pounded so loud it echoed in her ears as she stared at him.
She quickly broke eye contact.
"Let me just remind you of the rules, princess," Logan smirked. "No feelings."
He stated.
"Excuse me, I don't fall for guys like you. You're certainly not my type." She flipped her hair before folding her arms.
Behind that confident exterior was a girl whose thoughts were a rollercoaster.
If she really meant what she just said...
Why was her heart doing somersaults for a guy like him?
Logan raised his hands in surrender. "If you say so."
"So what now? Are we just going to walk around campus like we have nothing to do?" she asked, turning to Logan.
"Why don't we meet up with my boys? What do you think, princess?"
Did he mean Kennedy and Eric?!
No way!
No way she was meeting those guys. The same way she felt Logan was her nemesis without him doing anything to her was the same way she felt about his friends.
"Umm... I have other things to do with my time," Harper said, rolling her eyes.
"You're aware they're my friends, right? And as my 'girlfriend,' you'd have to maintain a good relationship with them. They're cool, trust me," Logan explained.
"No thanks."
"Come on," he insisted.
Exhaling, she agreed, reluctantly.
"Fine," Harper muttered.
"Aight, aight," Logan said, and they continued their walk.
"Yo!" Logan called out to Kennedy, who was busily flirting with a pretty girl. That intro just made Harper more irritated. She instantly regretted coming.
"Hey..." Kennedy's voice trailed off when he saw Harper standing next to Logan, arms folded.
Expression?
Emotionless.
"Lemme guess, you just got a new babe?" Logan teased as they shook hands—what seemed like a special handshake.
Kennedy replied with a sly smile.
"Lizzie, see you later, aight?" Kennedy winked at the girl, and a soft smile escaped her plump lips.
"See you around, Ken," she said as she walked away, her voice sultry.
The two guys just watched the retreating steps of Lizzie, and Harper just found it annoying.
"So," Kennedy broke the silence, "who did you bring with you?"
"This's Harper, my girlfriend. Princess, this is Kennedy, my friend," Logan did the introductions.
"Aww, she's cute," Kennedy commented, and for a fact, his comment almost got to her, but she brushed it off.
"You now noticed?" Logan Hayes added, and Harper shot him a glare.
Kennedy stretched his hand for a handshake.
Did she really have to reciprocate?
Reluctantly, she shook his hand, forcing a smile.
Logan noticed, hiding his smile.
"I'm leaving. See you around."
With that, Harper left.
Staring at Harper's retreating steps, Kennedy wondered, "Do you have any idea what I've done to your girlfriend?"
Logan chuckled, "Do I look like I do?"
