Toshinori Yagi, a.k.a. All Might, was currently doing some grocery shopping. He had recently moved to Musutafu because he was going to become a teacher at Japan's most prestigious hero school, UA High. Ever since his injury, his power had been fading. The weaker he got, the more he questioned whether it was necessary to pass One For All on to a new user. AFO was dead; he had killed him himself. People close to him believed that One For All might be necessary in the future, and even if nothing happened, it was still better to pass the quirk on for the simple possibility that it could assist people in the future.
"Will that be cash or credit?" the young lady working the checkout asked him. "Cash." For the purpose of keeping his identity secret, using a credit card was unreliable. Quickly paying, Toshinori Began his peaceful walk back toward his current residence, but not even two feet out the door did he see a villain doing villainous things. Sighing in exasperation, Toshinori buffed up, taking on the appearance of the ever-courageous and smiling All Might. Off he went to chase down another dastardly individual.
Racing through the streets, All Might chased the villain, a strange individual made of some kind of green sludge or goo. All Might pursued the sludge villain for almost an hour before the putrid puddle decided to escape through the sewers. All Might was not deterred by this; he was a hero and had fought in the sewers many a time. He grabbed the manhole cover, chucked it up in the air, then jumped up and struck a heroic pose before diving straight down, with the manhole cover clunking down right behind him, covering the entrance to the sewer.
All Might was a little ashamed that he got lost. Tracking the slimy fiend was a lot more difficult with everything covered in slime. But after a while of twisting and turning through tunnels, he finally caught up to the Murky Mud Man. As soon as he popped out of the sewer, he saw the Slimy Scallywag assaulting a poor, helpless civilian.
Quickly, All Might launched his fist forward, releasing a crushing wave of wind. The force of the wind smashed into the sludgy sycophant, sending him flying going splat like an overripe tomato. After assessing the area and making sure the villain was unconscious, All Might began to check on the civilian. They were unconscious, but it seemed like they were having some kind of fit. They were thrashing around, constantly changing between different looks—their hair color shifting, their muscle mass fluctuating. Sometimes their skin would get darker, then revert to a lighter shade.
As All Might reached down to check the civilian's vitals, he felt weaker than normal; instantly, his big, bulky form vanished. Somehow, he had run out of time, and he was exhausted. "I thought I had more time. I should've had at least another 10 to 20 minutes," Toshinori said as he wiped blood from his mouth. At least the civilian's seizure-like fit had stopped. Just as quickly as it had happened, All Might felt his power return, but it was strange; it felt like something important was missing. OFA felt weaker; his power must really be fading fast. He needed to find a new user for OFA quickly.
Toshinori began to gather up all the slime and put it into some pop bottles. Right after he finished, the civilian came to. The civilian looked at Toshinori and began to blink rapidly over and over. At first, Toshinori thought the civilian recognized him, but then the civilian's entire demeanor changed. His hair turned silver, his eyes turned blue, and a small mustache grew under his nose. The civilian must have some kind of shape-shifting quirk, Toshinori assumed.
Toshinori looked at the civilian and began his hurried explanation. "So, you see, the hero All Might was chasing that villain, and the villain was just so happened to run into you. When All Might caught up, he quickly saved you and then immediately got called to another crime, so he left. I was walking by, and he asked me to look out for you and deliver the villain to the police." Toshinori really hoped this rushed explanation would be enough for the civilian.
The civilian nodded, his blue eyes seeming to analyze every word spoken with intelligence. Toshinori quickly turned around and began to call the police to report the villain. The civilian got up and started to walk away. Toshinori noticed and quickly called out, "Hey, what's your name? The police might need a statement from you."
The silver-haired civilian turned, gave a crooked smile, and replied, "Oh, of course, I'm James Moriarty." He then turned and walked away.
Toshinori was heading back to the shopping district, having ruined the majority of his groceries while chasing the repulsive Sludge Slider. As he slowly approached the shopping area, he spotted a very familiar-looking police vehicle. "Oh, son of a monkey's uncle!" Toshinori exclaimed, running toward the shopping district. He stumbled upon exactly what he feared: the slimy cockroach had escaped the police and taken a spiky, blonde-haired boy hostage.
Toshinori looked around, trying to gauge which heroes were present. Unfortunately, all the heroes seemed to be in dire situations. One with a water quirk was suppressing the fire from the blonde kid's quirk, another was trying to keep civilians back—since nowadays heroes and villains are more of a spectacle than a source of fear. One hero's quirk prevented her from assisting at all. The last hero appeared to be in the worst situation; their quirk would do nothing to help the civilian caught by the villain.
Toshinori prepared to strain himself, time limit be damned; he couldn't sit by and watch a kid suffocate to death. Just before he made his move, he spotted the silver-haired civilian.
Toshinori watched as the silver-haired civilian whispered something under their breath, bent down, and picked up a small piece of concrete before chucking it in a random direction. As Toshinori observed, the piece of concrete bounced off the walls, slid across the roof, and eventually smacked into an air conditioning unit atop the destroyed building—ruined by the villain using the civilian's quirk.
At first, nothing happened. Toshinori remained in stunned silence as he watched the air conditioner come crashing down from the roof and land squarely on a fire hydrant, shattering it open. Water erupted from the hydrant, blasting straight at the sludge villain and freeing the blonde, spiky-haired kid.
After that, the silver-haired civilian simply walked away, disappearing into the crowd. Toshinori questioned his sanity; what he had just witnessed was so outrageous that he almost swore with actual swear words.
Toshinori watched as the drippy, slippery villain attempted to make his escape again, but this time he was less successful. Why? Because a familiar hero appeared unexpectedly. The hero leaped out of an alleyway and activated his quirk, deactivating the villain's powers and turning him back into a normal human. It was Death Arms, one of the heroes who hadn't been able to assist in capturing the villain earlier. He quickly tackled the slippery foe and cuffed him with quirk-canceling restraints.
As Toshinori observed, he saw Eraser Head vanish back into the alleys, heading in a direction similar to that of the silver-haired civilian. Realizing he wouldn't be able to buy anything at the nearby stores, Toshinori decided it was best to just go home.
== Writers Note
Hey, so before anyone says anything, no I did not give them one for all. It's something much more interesting. You can guess what it is if you want. But it won't come up for a while. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter. See you later.
