Chapter 13 - TEERCES

Peter stood still, staring at the man before him. An old comrade from SIN. They used to fight side by side, but now—they stood on opposite sides.

"Why are you with them?" Peter asked coldly.

The man—Eldric Vance—smirked. "It's not about sides, Peter. It's about survival."

Peter let out a dry chuckle. "You always had your own principles. But you know this is wrong."

Eldric sighed. "Maybe. But I have my orders."

Without warning, Eldric pulled the trigger!

Peter ducked just in time, the bullet barely missing his head! With lightning reflexes, he kicked Eldric's gun aside, knocking it from his grip.

A close-quarters fight erupted!

Eldric threw a fast punch, but Peter blocked it and countered with an elbow strike to Eldric's ribs. A loud thud echoed as they exchanged blows.

Eldric attempted a leg sweep, but Peter leaped over it and delivered a spinning kick to Eldric's face!

Eldric stumbled back, wiping blood from his lip. "Still fast as ever…" he muttered.

Peter smirked. "And you're still stubborn."

Suddenly, Eldric drew a knife from his belt and slashed at Peter! Peter stepped back, dodging the sharp blade that nearly grazed his chest.

This was no longer just a fight between agents—it was a duel between former friends turned enemies.

Peter barely dodged Eldric's knife, feeling the blade slice through the air just inches from his skin. He quickly countered with a knee to Eldric's stomach, but Eldric twisted away, slashing at Peter's shoulder.

The blade barely grazed Peter, drawing a thin line of blood.

Peter hissed in pain but didn't back down. Instead, he grabbed Eldric's wrist, twisting it sharply. Eldric grunted, dropping the knife.

Peter took the chance—he spun Eldric around and slammed him onto the rooftop floor!

Eldric coughed, but with a quick move, he wrapped his legs around Peter's arm, trying to pin him down. They struggled, rolling across the rooftop, dangerously close to the edge.

Meanwhile Optimus and Odlan crouched behind a stack of crates. Their hands were empty—no guns, no knives—just their instincts.

Odlan peeked out. "Shit, there's too many of them."

Optimus frowned. "What now? We can't fight empty-handed."

Odlan smirked. "Who said we need weapons?" He grabbed a fire extinguisher from the emergency kit nearby. "Ever seen what this can do at full blast?"

Optimus grinned. "You're crazy, but I like it."

At the same time, downstairs

Zunafets and Aitnys were cornered in the hallway. FTO agents were closing in.

Aitnys whispered, "We can't let them get to Peter."

Zunafets nodded. "Then we fight."

Without hesitation, they charged forward, fists flying!

The battle was raging on all fronts

Peter staggered near the edge of the rooftop, his footing dangerously close to slipping. Eldric, breathing heavily, stood in front of him, knife back in his grip.

"You won't escape this time, Peter," Eldric said coldly.

Peter smirked despite the situation. "I always find a way out, my friend."

Eldric lunged forward, attempting to stab Peter in the chest!

At the last second, Peter twisted his body, dodging the attack, letting the blade cut through empty air. Using his quick reflexes, Peter grabbed Eldric's arm and, using his momentum, flipped him onto the rooftop floor!

Thud! Eldric groaned in pain, the knife slipping from his grasp.

Peter took a quick breath and stomped on the knife, breaking it in half. "Enough," he said. "You have to choose—stay alive or remain FTO's puppet forever."

Meanwhile Odlan sneaked up behind an FTO agent while Optimus gripped a fire extinguisher tightly.

"Now?" Optimus whispered.

Odlan nodded. "Now."

Pffffshhhhhh!!!

White foam sprayed all over the FTO agent's face, blinding him in an instant. Odlan quickly snatched the rifle from the agent's hands and punched him!

Thud! The agent collapsed.

Optimus laughed. "One down! How many more?"

Odlan looked around. "Still three left."

They exchanged glances. "Alright… let's keep going!"

The battle was getting more chaotic.

On one side, Peter fought against Eldric in a brutal rooftop duel.

In another, Odlan and Optimus fought off FTO agents with whatever they could find.

Elsewhere, Zunafets and Aitnys engaged in their own intense battle.

Peter gritted his teeth as the blade pierced his leg, blood splattering onto the cold rooftop. The pain shot through his body like fire, but he didn't let it stop him.

Eldric smirked. "Looks like I got you this time."

Peter grabbed Eldric's wrist, twisting it with all his strength. Eldric grunted in pain, momentarily loosening his grip on the knife. Seizing the opportunity, Peter pulled the blade out of his leg and slashed at Eldric's arm!

Slash!

Eldric stumbled back, blood dripping from his wound. His smirk faded as anger filled his eyes. "You still fight like a damn ghost," he muttered.

Peter, breathing heavily, forced himself to stand despite the injury. His leg trembled, but he refused to fall. "And you still hesitate," Peter shot back. "That's why I always win."

Eldric growled and lunged at him again!

Peter, using the last of his strength, sidestepped at the last second and delivered a brutal punch to Eldric's face! Eldric lost his balance, his foot slipping off the edge of the rooftop.

He dangled dangerously, gripping the ledge with one hand.

Peter limped toward him, breathing heavily. He looked down at Eldric, their eyes meeting.

Peter paused for a moment, his breath ragged. Eldric was still hanging off the edge of the building, his eyes filled with anger—but also a flicker of fear he couldn't hide.

"Are you going to let me fall, Peter?" Eldric's voice was challenging, but there was a slight tremor in it.

Peter clenched his fists, ignoring the pain in his bleeding leg. He could let Eldric fall, end this once and for all... but that wasn't who he was.

"No," Peter muttered. "I'm not like them."

Without hesitation, Peter crouched down and extended his hand. Eldric hesitated, then finally grabbed it. With all his strength, Peter pulled him back onto the rooftop.

Eldric coughed, catching his breath. He stared at Peter with a cold expression. Then, suddenly, he let out a dry, sarcastic laugh.

"You're too naive, Peter," he said mockingly. "Nothing will change. Who told you to mess with the government?"

Peter locked eyes with him. "So, this is how it ends?"

Eldric shook his head as he stood up. "This world doesn't care about people like you. You think you can bring them down? You think people will thank you? No, Peter. You'll just die for nothing."

Peter took a deep breath. "Then at least I'll die for something."

Suddenly, gunfire erupted from below!

Both men turned to look down at the streets. The battle was still raging. Odlan and Optimus remained hidden, while Zunafets and Aitnys were trying to regain control of the situation.

Peter looked back at Eldric. "We can still change this."

Eldric remained silent, staring down at the chaos below. He took a deep breath, as if weighing his options.

Eldric stood still, watching the chaos unfold below. Gunfire echoed through the night, and sirens wailed in the distance. The government's forces were clashing with the rebels, while the public, fueled by anger and betrayal, began to riot.

Peter wiped the blood trickling down his face and took a step toward Eldric. "You don't have to be part of this anymore. You know the truth now. Join us."

Eldric scoffed, shaking his head. "You still don't get it, do you? The truth doesn't matter, Peter. Power does." His fingers twitched near his weapon, as if he were still debating his next move.

Peter narrowed his eyes. "If you really believe that, then why haven't you shot me yet?"

Eldric hesitated.

Peter pressed further. "You had every chance to kill me, but you didn't. Maybe you're not as loyal to them as you think."

Before Eldric could respond, a sudden explosion rocked the building! The force knocked both of them backward, sending debris flying through the air.

From the rooftop, Peter spotted several FTO reinforcements storming the streets. The government wasn't backing down. If they didn't act fast, their entire resistance would be crushed.

Peter pushed himself up and looked at Eldric. "Make your choice. Right now."

Eldric clenched his jaw. Would he betray everything he had ever known—or would he finally fight for something real?

Eldric took a deep breath, then looked at Peter seriously. "Alright... follow me."

Peter narrowed his eyes, trying to read Eldric's expression. "Where?"

Eldric reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a black access card with the FTO logo. "There's something you need to see. If you really want to change all of this, you have to destroy them from the root."

Peter glanced down from the rooftop. The city had turned into a battlefield. Odlan and Optimus were still hiding behind a burning vehicle, while Zunafets and Aitnys fought against FTO agents.

"Can I trust you?" Peter asked.

Eldric smirked. "You don't have any other choice."

Without hesitating, Peter followed Eldric. They leaped onto the next building, avoiding FTO patrols, then entered a hidden underground passage.

Meanwhile, Odlan and Optimus saw Peter disappearing.

"Heh, Peter always has his own plan," Odlan muttered.

"But this time, we have to follow," Optimus replied.

The two exchanged glances before rushing off to follow Peter's trail.

At the same time, Eldric and Peter arrived at a secret chamber. The dim red light illuminated the corridor, and massive screens displayed confidential FTO data.

Peter's eyes widened as he scanned the monitors. Every piece of evidence—corruption, assassinations, political manipulation—it was all there.

Eldric turned to him. "If you want to bring them down, this is the key."

Peter clenched his fists. "It's time to end this."

Peter stared at the massive screens in the secret room. Every recording, document, and secret communication of FTO was stored here. Corruption, murder, political manipulation—all of it was recorded in full detail.

Eldric crossed his arms. "Now you have the evidence, but the real question is… can you make it out of here alive?"

Peter took a deep breath. "I've been through worse. This isn't the hardest part."

He quickly connected his laptop to the main system, beginning the upload of all data to public servers.

Meanwhile, outside… the battle raged on.

Odlan and Optimus managed to find an entry into the facility, while Zunafets and Aitnys held off the incoming waves of FTO operatives.

On the computer screen, the upload reached 75%...

Suddenly—ALARMS BLARED!

Eldric cursed under his breath. "They know we're here."

The steel doors behind them burst open, several heavily armed FTO agents stormed in.

"Hand over the data, or you die right here!" one of the agents shouted.

Peter smirked slightly. He activated the city-wide broadcast. "Too late. The truth is already out."

100%—UPLOAD COMPLETE.

Now, the entire city of Sicnarep could see all the government's and FTO's crimes exposed.

Chaos erupted.

Peter exhaled sharply, gripping his pistol tightly. Eldric loaded his weapon and smirked. "If we're going out, might as well go out with a bang."

Peter nodded. "Let's make this count."

They kicked open the door—bullets flew immediately! Peter ducked behind a pillar while Eldric rolled to the side, firing at the FTO agents. Gunfire echoed through the facility.

From outside, Odlan and Optimus heard the shots.

"Damn it! Peter's in trouble!" Optimus cursed.

Odlan reloaded his weapon. "Then let's give them some hell!"

BAM! The emergency doors were blasted open—Odlan and Optimus stormed in!

Now with reinforcements, Peter and Eldric pushed forward. One by one, the FTO agents fell.

Suddenly, the building began to shake—EXPLOSIONS!

Zunafets' voice came through the radio. "Peter! You need to get out NOW! The government just ordered an airstrike on the facility!"

Peter's eyes widened. "They'd rather destroy everything than let the truth spread?"

Eldric wiped blood from his lips and laughed. "Looks like your fight really did shake the entire system."

More explosions. The ceiling cracked, fire spread.

Peter grabbed Eldric by the arm. "We're not dying here. MOVE!"

The team sprinted towards the exit as the entire facility collapsed behind them.

FTO agents stormed in, firing rapidly. Peter jumped aside, taking cover behind a nearly shattered concrete desk. Eldric returned fire swiftly, while Odlan and Optimus attacked from behind, eliminating several agents in quick succession.

"We need to get out of here, now!" Odlan shouted, shooting an agent who tried to rush them.

Peter glanced toward the hallway on the right. "That way! Through the underground garage!"

The four of them sprinted through the wreckage, leaping over fallen agents. Sirens blared loudly, signaling an emergency. Another explosion rocked the building, sending debris and dust flying everywhere.

In the underground garage, dozens of FTO agents were already waiting!

Eldric smirked. "They really don't want us to leave, do they?"

Peter cocked his gun. "Unfortunately, I never liked the easy way out."

The battle erupted again!

Odlan and Optimus moved fast, using parked cars as cover while tossing smoke grenades. A small explosion shook the area, giving them a chance to move.

Suddenly, the roar of an engine echoed from the far end of the garage.

A sleek black sports car sped toward them—Zunafets was behind the wheel!

"GET IN, NOW!!" he yelled.

Peter and the others sprinted toward the car. Eldric fired backward to suppress the enemy's attack.

One by one, they jumped in, and just as Peter got inside...

BOOM!! A massive explosion erupted behind them!

Zunafets slammed the gas pedal, the car sped out of the garage at full speed, leaving behind the wreckage and the trapped FTO agents.

They had escaped... for now.
