For a moment, Torifū was stunned, his entire body stiffening.
Hiruzen noticed something was wrong and lightly shook Torifū. "What's wrong, Torifū?"
Only then did Torifū snap back to reality, quickly waving his hand. "Nothing, I just used too much chakra and am a bit tired."
Hiruzen nodded. He had also used a considerable amount of chakra, and it was clearly impossible to set off on a mission right now.
"Then you should go home and rest. We'll leave tomorrow."
Torifū was currently eager to understand the system's situation, so he readily agreed to Hiruzen's suggestion.
The others also nodded in acceptance.
The spar ended just like that, with Torifū successfully joining the team to carry out the mission. Everyone went home to rest and recuperate, preparing for the mission the next day.
After the disbandment, Torifū immediately ran back home. The "too much chakra consumption" was just an act; in reality, nothing was wrong.
...
Back home, Torifū immediately opened his panel.
Name] Kumotsuru Torifū
[Age] 6
[Rank / Chakra] Chūnin / 1 Kakashi
[Kekkei Genkai] Crystal Release, Cloud Release (Progress: 55%)
[Talents] All-attribute chakra, Prodigy
[Peace Points / Chaos Points] 4900 / 5
[Activate New System Features?]
Without hesitation, Torifū selected "Yes."
He was currently in a state of complete bewilderment. For no apparent reason, the system had suddenly unlocked new features.
[Due to the host accepting your first official mission, the following features have been unlocked.]
[Mission Scroll: Receive random rewards based on mission rank upon successful completion of any village-assigned mission.]
[Character Encyclopedia: Unlock entries for characters you've interacted with to gain Peaceful Points, with a small chance to receive a mystery reward.]
As soon as the system finished explaining, a nearly crazed grin spread across Torifū's face.
"Heaven's on my side!"
He shouted with glee. Until now, there had been no consistent way to earn Peace Points—he had to rely solely on daily check-ins and the random trigger of chaos events. But daily check-ins only gave 100 points, and chaos events were rare and unpredictable. That's how he'd only managed to collect 4900 points after having the system for so long—and that was all from daily check-ins!
But now, with Mission Scroll and the Character Encyclopedia, he finally had a reliable source!
For once, Torifū felt confident that when Uchiha Madara eventually staged his rebellion, he wouldn't be completely useless—and hopefully wouldn't be devoured by the system for failing to fulfill his potential.
"Life is beautiful!"
All the struggle from earlier that morning suddenly felt worth it.
The match against Hiruzen had been mentally exhausting—Torifū lacked real combat experience. He only survived thanks to the crash course from Hashirama these past few days and the bizarre techniques he'd been refining. If they were to fight again, winning would be far from guaranteed.
After all, Hiruzen and the others were hardened shinobi who'd completed countless missions. Torifū? He'd only ever killed one person—a poor, unfortunate spy.
Now though, he was walking around his house humming "What a wonderful day" and basking in satisfaction.
[T/N: The Madagascar song came to my mind, when they tripping. Lol.]
But suddenly, he stopped mid-step. He realized something he'd overlooked—
Could he have unlocked these features even by accepting a low-tier mission, like catching cats or cleaning garbage?
With a long sigh, he decided not to pick a fight with the system. No need to ruin a good mood.
But the more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became. "A moment's patience, a lifetime of regret!"—it really irked him! If the system was going to unlock this stuff anyway, why did he risk life and limb?
The bandit mission where rouge samurai and ninja mixing together, no way would that be a friendly place.
But there was no way around it. He was the one who had clamored to join in the first place. To join, he had even beaten up the captain.
At this point, saying he wanted to go back on his word? Was that possible? Absolutely not!
Although that was the case, if Torifū hadn't decided to go with Sarutobi Hiruzen's team to clear out the bandits, hadn't decided to take this step, then he might not have successfully unlocked the new features. Torifū wasn't unaware of this logic; he simply wanted to curse the system.
After cursing, he happily checked the new features.
Opening the Mission Scroll, the entire panel only recorded one mission, the bandit extermination that he had stubbornly insisted on.
It didn't seem particularly special, nor did it show what would happen if it failed. Could this really be a way to get free benefits? Besides the real-world money, could he also get freebies from the system by doing missions?
Torifū absolutely didn't believe it. Knowing the system's shady nature, failing a mission probably meant getting slapped with 10,000 Chaos Points on the spot.
He made a silent vow—once a mission was accepted, he would not fail. He couldn't give the system any excuse to mess with him.
Then, his gaze turned to the other feature, the Character Encyclopedia.
With a thought, the interface opened like a book. Soon, the screen filled with rows of what looked like ID-style photos.
Upon closer inspection, Torifū realized that these were all characters who had appeared in Naruto, but most of the encyclopedia was still grayed out.
He found the picture of his teacher, Senju Hashirama, and tapped it with his finger. The system's voice sounded again.
[Ding—Character unlocked: Senju Hashirama. Awarded 1000 Peace Points.]
"Good heavens! My teacher is worth so much!" Torifū couldn't help but exclaim.
A thousand points was what he could accumulate in ten days of signing in! It was a pity that it was a one-time reward and couldn't be unlocked repeatedly.
If only the system allowed different versions of each character to be unlocked separately… he could farm Peace Points indefinitely! Just imagining it was thrilling.
After trying repeatedly a few times, Torifū understood how this thing worked.
Any ninja in the encyclopedia could have their picture unlocked as long as Torifū had some kind of interaction with them in reality, regardless of whether the interaction was good or bad!
Characters like Maruboshi Kosuke, Yuhi Shinku, and Umino Ikkaku were all in the encyclopedia, but they gave relatively low rewards.
For example, Sarutobi Hiruzen and figures like Senju Tobirama, who were very famous, were worth a thousand Peaceful Points each.
It was worth mentioning that Uchiha Naori was also in the thousand Peaceful Points category, perhaps because she developed Izanami?
In any case, this was truly a great harvest!
Currently, Torifū's Peace Points had already surpassed 6000—a massive windfall in his eyes.
With that kind of haul, he could buy all sorts of futuristic gadgets like phones or computers.
But being the cautious type, Torifū had no intention of wasting points on anything that didn't boost his strength. Power was everything.
"I need to find something that actually makes me stronger. Can't be too careful!"
After all, mission intel wasn't always accurate—by the time they received orders, the situation could've already changed. The bandits they were hunting might be far stronger now.
