A week later.
In a dark, old room, the afternoon sunlight seeped through the cracks and illuminated the room with its dim light. Dust seemed to dance in the air when touched by the faint sunlight. The sound of crickets could be heard outside the room, as the day began to turn into evening. The person sat beside him, refusing to leave him for a whole week. He had tried everything to wake him up. But nothing worked. He sat patiently and waited beside him. Holding his cold hand gently. His head hung low, as if all hope had left his body.
Suddenly he woke up with a piercing pain in his head that was excruciating. The person jolted, his grip on his hand tightening slightly as he looked at him. The shock and relief that flooded his expression soon filled his face as he realized he was finally awake.
"Oh... you're awake? Thank goodness you're finally awake." The person said with genuine gratitude.
"Hey, where are you? Oh you!! You too? You're the one from the lake, right?" He said in a daze, scratching his still aching head and his vision still blurry.
The person chuckled, a little relief with hope slowly returning to him as he spoke and knew he was alright. He squeezed his hand gently, his gaze fixed on him.
"Yes, I am the one from the lake, welcome back little rat." he replied with a warm smile.
He fell silent, trying to process the situation in front of him.
"Why did you save me?" he asked in a flat voice and expression, waiting for the person's answer.
The person fell silent for a moment, their eyes met for a moment, before looking away. Shame and humiliation washed over him as he mumbled his answer softly.
"I.. I don't know.. You.. Just.. I couldn't bear the thought of your death.. I felt.. Afraid." The person answered softly, holding back the shame and the blush on his face.
He sighed as he understood the situation that had happened to him.
"Hm.. I see.. Thanks for saving me." He said sincerely.
"Good thing I didn't get buried or swallowed right away."
He muttered under his breath, glancing at the person who was still calming down from the shame and blush on his face.
The person nodded, his grip on his hand tightening slightly again. Slowly he could feel his normal personality starting to return to him as he felt relaxed now that he was alright.
"You're welcome, little mouse.. Be grateful I didn't eat you right away and patiently waited for you to wake up." He said in a voice filled with arrogance and pride in his grand words.
"Damn.. So that person heard what I said earlier." He muttered under his breath, glancing at the person with a disgusted look.
He blushed as his stomach rumbled from hunger and fasting before he was finally thrown into the ravine at that time.
"D-Do you have any food? Any food you have?" he asked and asked the person with a little nervousness and embarrassment.
He also didn't really expect the person to give him food.
Even after saving his life that was on the verge of death, he wasn't sure he could survive in the future. And of course he couldn't go back to the palace.
After he was banished by the second empress. For a moment they fell silent, exchanging glances with confused looks and expressions.
