Chapter 0: Prologue to Advent

Ten figures stood on the open plain as a soft wind drifted through the air. The pleasant blue sky and temperate weather betrayed the nature of their meeting today.

One of them was going to die.

A middle aged man in simple clothes stood alone, surrounded by the other nine; all of whom were adorned with armor and weapons buzzing with the frequency of magic. Powerful magic. There was no question about it, these were the other advents.

The man smiled. 'Advents...' vessels of the gods. Becoming an avatar of divinity, to gain the Daimonion, was a powerful boon, both for the god and advent. Being an advent meant wielding the highest extension of one's god's authority. And now, he was surrounded by nine of them -- nine demigods.

He wasn't too worried, however. After all, he was one too. And a damn powerful one at that...

'If anything, these fools aren't even half as strong as me. Even if there are nine of them...'

As if somehow knowing the man was insulting them, one advent with striking grey eyes that pointed a piercing gaze at the man stood forward.

"Advent of Genesis."

The man nodded sagely.

"Advent of Mist. Long time no see, as it were. And what a nice reunion, too... you've brought all the other puppets here too. What, did your patrons all finally lose their minds? Sending you to face me... you must have a death wish." He laughed, rolling his head back and placing his hands on his hips.

Advent of Mist smiled.

"Do not play coy with me, Advent of Genesis. You have been running from us for years, barely escaping from our grasp each time we destroyed a bastion of your faith. Your god has no authority left on this earth except for you. You will not escape now... there is no where left for you to run."

At this, Advent of Genesis stopped laughing suddenly. He slowly turned his head, zeroing in his gaze to match the Advent of Mist's.

The vessel of the God of Mist momentarily froze, smile wiped off his face. The potency of the anger, bloodlust, and aura that the Advent of Genesis possessed was so great that it made him involuntarily shiver. But he regained control over is mind and steeled himself. Everything had been done perfectly. All escapes were cut off, all other sources of power dealt with.

The name Genesis, and the name of his patron god, would cease to exist.

The Advent of Genesis spoke slowly, face devoid of the humor he showed just a moment before.

"You forget who you are talking to. You forget your place. I was here since before the rest of you were specks of dust, and I will be here long after you return there. I am time, I am magic, I am life and death, I am existence and nothingness. I am power."

The very earth seemed to tremble as sparks of light surrounded the mysterious Advent, his own armor and weapons finally appearing in a menacing spectacle of brilliance. Cracks appeared over the surface of the plain, and gravity seemed to defy itself as chunks of earth, and the angered Advent himself, began to float. An aura of power began to seep out of him, and his eyes shifted their shade from a dark brown to a glowing and piercing white.

"I am the Advent of Genesis, the holy vessel of -"

"Don't let him say his name!" Shouted the Advent of Mist, who quickly sent forth a wisp of at first seemingly harmless smoke that quickly revealed itself strong enough to cut through the rising blocks of earth disrupted by the power of the gods. Smacking the Advent of Genesis in the face, he momentarily stopped his monologue, and looked distastefully at the other advents.

As a pair of ominous black wings blotted out the sun as the Advent of Mist prepared to attack in earnest, the other eight advents followed suit.

After that, all hell broke loose. Amidst the chaos, as the Advent of Genesis slowly began to lose blood as the others launched attack after attack, destroying everything in sight and leaving a broken landscape as collateral, he couldn't help but smile. After all, this battle would prove one thing to the entire world... Something he knew would be troublesome for these upstart gods and goddesses in the future.

Gods can, in fact, die... No, Gods can be killed.
