Chapter 14 - Revealed! - 13

A frantic knocking on the door snapped me out of my attempt to sleep. After about a minute of continuous knocking, I got up and opened it. The guest who was so furiously conquering was Rudeus. "Why is he here?" was the question I asked myself. He came here from time to time, but otherwise I had no idea what his reason might be.

Rudeus burst into the room and motioned for me to sit on the bed. Then he closed the door and spoke, "Tell me the truth!" With that, my heart nearly skipped a beat. I started playing the fool and said, "The truth about what, Rudy, I don't understand you." I saw his angry face. He bit his lip hard and said, "Who are you? Where are you from? Everything!" He really got it...

I let out a long sigh. "Huh, so you finally didn't give in and went to confront me, huh? After all, a normal person wouldn't even think of that. Even though neither of us were hiding it, I expected it to happen faster." With that, I saw a winning smile on his face, the same disgusting smile he's been showing for years.

"Please stop, I tried to teach you to unlearn, but it didn't work. So tell me, what are you interested in?" Rudy obviously wasn't expecting such easy cooperation, but I really wasn't in the mood for any more games. "How old were you? How did you die? What was your past life like? Where are you from?" These were his questions.

Slowly but surely I began to answer him. "I was in my early twenties, I was a student, working part-time as a cook, living in Central Europe, the reason why I died I don't know unfortunately..." And so I began to tell him about my past life. I don't know if he was really interested or if he was trying to find out how I got here.

Of course, I didn't tell him about fate and stuff. That would be stupid, at least for now I'll keep it to myself. I also didn't tell him that this is a fictional world, at least for my world. After all, if there is an infinity of realities, this world where I am can be fiction somewhere, right? At least that's what I'm thinking.

Rudeus told me briefly about his past life. About how he was traumatized and stuff, I know it was hard for him, so I took my time. I couldn't tell him that I wasn't interested or that I've heard about it from anime and ff. I also mentioned that even though he's a reincarnate, he's my brother and nothing will change that...

Thanks to this conversation, he fell asleep hard on my bed. It'll probably make our relationship stronger. We talked until almost dawn. Not needing sleep or other basic needs, I didn't sleep the rest of the night. After all, I only need mana for everything. It's pure energy, so I don't have to replenish it with sleep. Mana is my drug, ha.

When morning came, I went downstairs to eat breakfast and explain that Rudy needed a longer sleep today. Once I had breakfast, I asked my dad to work out with me today. Once we got out on the lawn, we stood facing each other and got ready to fight.

"Ready?" Paul spoke, I immediately replied, "Ready!"

And I immediately ran at him with my wooden sword, I wasn't going to train with a normal sword, was I? My movement was clean and graceful. Paul took a stance for the water god technique and aimed sharply at my head. I dodged it with a graceful movement to the right and did a spin right behind him.

Paul reacted, and as he turned, I put my leg through his, which I reinforced with mana to make it stronger. I jerked sharply and Paul collapsed on his ass. I pointed my sword at his head, but what I didn't expect was for him to kick me in the stomach. I started coughing violently, I hadn't strengthened my whole body, who would expect your own father to kick you in the stomach?

When my mom saw that, she barked at Paul and tried to get to me. I told her I was fine. But what she didn't know was that today she would have to use her healing magic on Paul. Really pissed me off, drained some of my aura. An aura that matches Paul's power. All I wanted to see was amazement and fear, and that's what I got. Beads of sweat began to form on Paul's forehead and I spoke coldly, which made both my mom and Lillia surprised, "Dad, you shouldn't have done that, I'm going to break a few bones for you today as punishment, okay?" I know I probably overreacted, but he really pissed me off.

Lightning began to form around my body, lightning that terrified Paul. The lightning was black as night with shades of red. I used them to make my body move as fast as possible. I ran straight at Paul and brutally struck him with my sword. He was able to dodge some of my attacks, but the ones I hit made him extremely thin. I wasn't thinking clearly, honestly, if I took the fight seriously, Paul wouldn't have survived.

With that, there was a loud crunch. My sword was broken, I was breathing heavily, my dad was on the ground and not feeling well himself. Mom and Lillia were frozen in place. They really didn't expect me to ever get so angry. I really overreacted. To at least make some sort of excuse, I walked over to my dad and started to treat him.

Paul's breathing calmed down and I breathed a sigh of relief, after all I didn't want him to die. I immediately apologized, "I'm sorry Dad, I really got out of control, I hope you'll forgive me." With that Paul got back to his feet and apologized, "No! I should apologize, I caused your anger by kicking you." There was a pause and then followed: "Plus your fencing is amazing, you've really improved, Mephisto, I'm proud." He really surprised me, he took it like a man and acknowledged the mistake.

"Thanks, Dad, and again, I'm sorry, I overreacted." With that, everything calmed down and we returned to the house, where Rudeus was already awake and eating bread at the table. In the evening he came to my room again and we talked again about our lives, both the old and the new.
