Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 The Fragmented Truth

The eyes of the King of the Wolf Spirit glowed with a green light. It was as if some powerful force emanated from its body, enveloping the entire stone hall. Those eyes were deep and cold, like an abyss, luring all those who approached to sink into it. Standing under its gaze, Kalle's heart beat inexplicably faster. However, that familiar yet strange power made him feel a suffocating fear.

"You've finally come," the deep voice of the King of the Wolf Spirit echoed like thunder in the stone hall, and every word carried a terrifying power. "The inheritor of the bloodline, the descendant of the Wolf Spirit."

Kalle took a deep breath, suppressed the fear in his heart, and his gaze was firm. "Who are you? Why are you here?"

The eyes of the King of the Wolf Spirit flashed slightly, and a mocking smile appeared on the corner of its mouth. "Don't you know? I am the answer you've been seeking. That power you possess was bestowed upon you by me."

"Bestowed upon me?" Kalle frowned, feeling a sense of confusion in his heart. "What exactly do you want? Why have you been hiding in this mountain range for so long?"

"What I want..." The voice of the King of the Wolf Spirit became even deeper, carrying an endless sense of desolation. "Is revenge."

Kalle was stunned, and an indescribable pain suddenly welled up in his heart. "Revenge?" he repeated. "Who is the target of your revenge?"

The gaze of the King of the Wolf Spirit instantly turned cold, like an icy blade. "Those who once betrayed me. Those who sealed me here and deprived me of my freedom."

"The Wolf Spirits you know are just a part of my power. Back then, I led the wolf clan to its peak, but in the end, I was betrayed by my own clan. To save themselves, they chose to seal me here and let me sleep forever."

A complex mix of emotions welled up in Kalle's heart. The revenge of the King of the Wolf Spirit seemed to have some mysterious connection with his own origin. Just as he was about to ask further, suddenly, Cangzhua's low growl broke the silence.

"Kalle, be careful!"

A powerful black airflow burst out from the body of the King of the Wolf Spirit and instantly swept through the entire stone hall. The chains on the stone pillars vibrated violently, and the black chains made an ear-piercing friction sound, as if they were about to break at any moment.

Kalle instinctively took a step back, his eyes firmly fixed on the King of the Wolf Spirit. At this moment, Daelin and Ezer also felt the terror of this power and raised their weapons one after another, ready to face the possible attack.

However, to everyone's surprise, the King of the Wolf Spirit did not launch an attack immediately but seemed to be deep in thought. After a moment of silence, it suddenly spoke again: "You don't belong here."

"What do you mean?" Daelin frowned tightly, and a vague sense of unease welled up in her heart.

"Your arrival is destined to change the fate of this land," the King of the Wolf Spirit said slowly. "You are not ordinary visitors. Each of you bears my mark. Especially you."

The gaze of the King of the Wolf Spirit turned to Kalle, and there was a certain unfathomable meaning in its eyes. "The bloodline in you is not just the inheritance of the Wolf Spirit. You also carry a deeper mission."

Kalle's heart rate suddenly accelerated, and countless questions filled his mind. "A deeper mission? Who exactly am I? What kind of secrets are hidden behind my bloodline?"

The King of the Wolf Spirit did not answer directly but shifted its gaze to Sykes standing beside him. "And you, Sykes, also possess an extraordinary power. Your past choices are influencing all of this."

Sykes' face changed slightly. He slowly drew out the sword at his waist, and his eyes were sharp. "What are you talking about?"

"You've hidden it well, but you haven't left no trace," the voice of the King of the Wolf Spirit carried a mysterious power. "Your contract with the Wolf Spirit has been in effect for a long time."

Sykes' body trembled slightly, and his fingers gripping the hilt of the sword gradually turned pale.

"Enough!" Kalle suddenly interrupted the King of the Wolf Spirit. "If what you know is helpful to me, then tell me directly. I don't want to wander in the fog anymore."

The King of the Wolf Spirit sneered. "Help you? Do you think I'll help you?" It suddenly raised its hand, and a powerful energy swept out. The temperature in the air dropped sharply, and one could even see frost spreading from the stone walls.

"I'm giving you a chance to choose whether to continue on this path. The responsibility you carry is far beyond your imagination."

At this moment, a deep roar came from a distance, breaking the silence of the stone hall.

"Shadow Envoys!" Cangzhua suddenly pounced towards Kalle and whispered sharply, "You're surrounded!"

Kalle quickly turned his head and saw a group of black shadows rapidly approaching from all directions. Their auras were heavy, as if they were messengers from hell.

"Shadow Envoys!" Daelin's face suddenly turned pale. She gripped her staff tightly, and her expression was filled with determination. "They're here!"

At this moment, a rush of rapid footsteps broke the tranquility of the stone hall. A familiar figure emerged from the darkness. The person was wearing a tattered cloak, and although his figure was thin, he exuded a strong aura.

"Ezer?" Kalle raised an eyebrow and looked at him with a complicated gaze.

Ezer smiled slightly, and a strange glint flashed in his eyes. "It seems you really haven't discovered the truth of this place. The Shadow Envoys are not the most powerful enemies."

"What do you mean?" Kalle stared at him intently.

"Your enemies are not just those in front of you," Ezer's smile became deeper. "What you're facing is an existence older and more powerful than the Shadow Envoys."

Kalle, Daelin, and the others felt a sinking feeling in their hearts, and an indescribable sense of oppression filled the air.

The war that was about to break out was far more complex and dangerous than they had imagined.

At this moment, the voice of the King of the Wolf Spirit sounded again: "You've already come to a point of no return. You will bear the fate of this land together with me."

Kalle took a deep breath and finally understood that the truth of all this had long been buried in the bloodline behind him and this land. And he had already been drawn into an inescapable whirlpool.

His future was being pulled by those powers he had never seen before, leading him towards an unknown abyss.
