"Mmmp." I groan as I sit up in my bed and stretch. Blinking the frosty blue blur from my eyes as I look around the room. My anxiety beats within my chest as I realize I'm somewhere that's completely unfamiliar to me.
The walls are an almost unsettling plain white. Looking to my right I notice a closed door that I assume leads out into the hallway. Then as I turn to my left I notice another bed and an open window.
The bed right next to mine thankfully has a familiar face. Skye is laying on his chest with his arms sprawled out to each side. And as he snores I can't help but fight back a laugh.
"Somehow even when he's sleeping he has the ability to soothe my anxiety." An unexpected voice says from near the door. My heart goes into overdrive and I can practically feel it beating in my chest.
"Wow… and I thought my heart rate spiked in shocking situations." The voice sounds once more and this time I gather the courage to look towards it, noticing a man.
He wears a modern military style uniform. Green camouflage sweatpants, a jacket in the same color, and a pair of black boots. Except the fact that this man is floating in mid air makes the whole situation a lot less modern.
"Uhhh… Hi?" I stammer out as me and the man lock eyes. His eyes are bright brown and seem to have a commanding presence. But that look fades quickly when he shows off a goofy grin.
"Greetings, I'm Raine, ex earth military soldier and current leader of The Tower's first Peace Alliance." Raine introduces himself and then literally conjures a chair from thin air.
Then as if he was in an old spy movie, he sits down in a classic interrogation stance. His arms are folded over the back of the chair and his legs are twisted around the legs of his seat.
"Uhh… Hi? I'm Luna. If I'm being honest I have no clue what's going on right now. How are you-" Raine smiles and cuts me off, responding as if he was reading the question right from my mind.
"How am I doing this? Well, since I came to The Tower without mana I've had to use other… more difficult methods of fighting those with powers." Raine says in a tone that's a little too happy for the situation.
"…Uhh…" I try to respond but I feel my mind is less interesting than a blank canvas. So instead of responding I just shrug. Thankfully Skye helps me out unknowingly.
—Skye's POV—
*Yawn*
I sit up in the bed and stretch, my legs push outwards and shake with that good old fashioned refreshment. My arms come to a meeting point above my head and then as I pull them down I notice something odd.
There's literally a man floating in the middle of the room. The stranger holds a book in his hand and Luna's mouth is wide open. She's speechless and I stop my stretch for just a moment longer.
"Am I still not awake?" I ask myself out loud and then instead of pulling down my hands gently I smack the top of my head with an aggressive thud.
"OWW!" I shout out loud in response, but instead of freaking out because the floating man isn't another random illusion, I just toss the blanket that was on top of me off the side of the bed and cross my arms.
I can't help but wonder. Then I push my hands together and start counting on my fingers. My mind seems too tired to start racing and I don't even want to acknowledge the fact just in case it changed its mind.
"One…Two…Three..." I stop counting out loud and shove out a four fingered point at the man clad with military gear.
"You, my friend, are the fourth weirdo of the hour. Would you happen to know the weirdo who swore he wasn't a sigma?" My tone is so serious and I'm not joking but the stranger bursts out laughing.
Luna's jaw drops further as she stares at me, but instead of saying something she just looks away and closes it. This leaves me feeling awkward and wondering if pinching my arm would help.
Then the stranger stops laughing and looks at me. "Okay, okay. I think I get what's going on now. Married couple lovers' quarrel turned cold?" The man looks at Luna with an expression of curiosity.
"We aren't married-" She starts but my intrusive thoughts win the action point and I blurt out my own final sentence.
"Just friends. I'm too cool to date an older girl." I giggle as Luna shoots me the stink eye. I can almost smell her glare as well, and the stranger laughs even harder now.
"Me too buddy. Me too. I don't even feel the need to start a safety test, you both pass. Oh yeah, the names Raine by the way." The muscly man floats back down to the floor and it's just then I notice the floor wasn't there.
The blanket is gone as well but after looking up at Raine and blinking rapidly, the floor returns and the military man touches his feet to it.
Then without wasting any time he walks over to the door, knocks twice and snaps his fingers.
SORRY! Current Skye here back again with another insight. If this were a movie scene I would have to say there's an upcoming seizure warning. Luckily for you this isn't a movie, but unluckily for you I'm gonna have to stop this story and return again after this ad break.
Don't forget to come back and listen to me tell you how The Tower actually works. It's very complicated and since Raine isn't here with me at the moment I'm gonna have to do some impromptu.
What I can tell you is this. The Tower of Destiny calls only to those who listen carefully and watch closely. The Tower and the people within it are made up of pure soul essence.
Soul essence is a powerful form of mana that only those born, or reborn, within The Tower can use. Since Raine opened The Tower's doors and walked in without dying, he doesn't have mana.
His power is different from standard mana based powers. If he can think it, he can do it. His strength is only limited to his mind. His prophecy had the potential for power much greater than both mine or Luna's.
But the higher the potential, the greater the risk of the darkness. Raine hasn't told me the entirety of my prophecy quite yet. Before he shoved me in the box hailing from the land of boring, boringer, and boringest, he said if I pass this test I'll be ready to know what my destiny is.
But for the sake of the story I'll tell you what Raine's prophecy is.
"Forsaken by all then loved last.
Clouded by darkness from the ancient past.
Left and Right become one with the galaxy.
Light and Dark keys to the youngest royalty.
Evil so great only he can comprehend.
Fueled by hatred but to what end?
Gaze upon flaws and scatter laws.
Unlock the doors to escape their paws."
Poets are scary. Especially when they write stuff like that from their own heads. I really hope my prophecy isn't something that ominous. Unfortunately it's too soon to make a guess for that one though.
But now that I've gotten my share of outbursts out of the way, I'll continue the story. Roll the tape, and look upon The Tower's fate. Nevermind ignore that thy poetry skills are awful.
For real this time. The story continues.
