Chapter 14 - crafting the first spell

Alex was very pleased with the result of his hunt, he had gotten more than he would have if he spent the whole day reading; he could still even continue reading when he returned home!

"The almighty path system is truly mighty," he nodded in satisfaction as he pulled out the core of the beast and quietly stored it.

Alex looked at the corpse of the beast with reluctance in his eyes. Along the way, he had been forced to abandon the corpses of many beasts that he had killed. To be precise, he had stopped storing beast corpses after his 11th kill and this was because he could no longer store them as the storage bracelet that he was given at the union had just enough room for a few and was almost filled up.

He had resorted to taking their beast cores instead, at least they would still fetch him some money; it was better than leaving everything.

Still, the thought of the amount of money he would lose by abandoning these corpses made his heart arch.

At this moment, an idea immediately popped into his head, and his eyes brightened behind his mask.

"Of course, how could I have forgotten!" Alex exclaimed.

In his previous world, he had read of so many characters who were able to store items and even living beings in a different space that could not be found in their world; wasn't such an ability just like his space element?!

At the thought of this, Alex immediately thought of his new skill and a screen appeared before him. He couldn't help wondering if the system would reward him for creating his first spell, but that was a side thought.

[Skill: craftsman: create a spell– please select which element the host wants to craft a spell for,

Space element/ Lightning element]

…..

The notification popped up on the screen in front of him and Alex calmly picked the space element.

…..

[Selected: Space element– please choose a crafting option,

Customized crafting/ auto craft.]

...

Another notification appeared in front of him and Alex raised an eyebrow at the two options. Customized crafting and auto craft?

He was a bit puzzled but had some idea as to what the two options meant. The system did not explain this setting so he had to guess for himself.

After giving it some thought, Alex picked the customized crafting and another notification appeared.

…..

[Selected: customized crafting– please describe the spell you want to create.]

…..

Alex contemplated for a while before describing what he had in mind, it only took him a few seconds to come up with the idea he wanted. The system screen displayed the leading command for a while before a list of spells and the amount of exp needed to create them appeared in front of him.

….

[Alternate world: Allows the host to create a small world in an independent space that's not affected by the condition of the real world.

Price:100,000 exp!

Space dimension: A space that grows along with the host and can store anything, including living beings. Starting space: Five thousand meters.

Price: 50,000 exp!

Spatial rift: a chaotic space that can only be accessed by the host, space inside is unlimited but unstable and unfit for living beings.

Price: 20,000 exp!

spatial …

….

Alex's mind was blown away by the explanations of the spells the system had come up with, but the price of each spell immediately ruined every expectation he had; those prices were not something the current him could afford!

Thankfully, the list didn't just have those expensive spells. A list of spells with affordable prices also appeared at the bottom of the list, but their downsides were apparent: they couldn't accept living beings, so whatever was to enter either had to be dead or an object.

Alex took a look at the bottom of the list and quickly found one that he liked.

….

[Space pocket: A growth type spatial storage spell. The internal space can be expanded by spending exp points or increasing the host's strength. Time inside the pocket is frozen, no living being can survive in it.

Price: 500 exp.

Current capacity:50 square meters.

Expansion cost:+1 square meter per 10 exp points]

...

Alex has decided to create this spell. Not only did it fit his liking, but its current storage capacity was enough for his current situation and the requirement for increasing the space also perfectly suited him.

But most importantly, it was the cheapest!

"Let's get this one then," Alex had decided.

He was still 40 exp short, but that wasn't a problem for him; he still had a few hours before nightfall and enough mana to hunt more beasts.

This time, he wasn't going to waste time engaging in close fights and would kill them directly.

Immediately after thinking of this, Alex set off.

Some time later.

"Space bullet!"

[Mission complete, 10 exp!]

"Take this punch!"

[Mission complete, 10 exp!]

"Lightning ball!"

Half an hour later, Alex could be seen standing on top of what seemed like a giant beetle with six transparent wings attached to its back; he had killed the four beasts in less than an hour.

He didn't bother digging out the beast's core as he focused on the system.

[Daily mission complete.

Kill Magic Beasts 27/2

Weekly mission complete

Kill Magic Beasts 27/5

[Reward: 10 exp!]

….

Alex had completed the weekly mission for the fifth time, hence earning him another 10 points!

He looked at his current exp points.

510/100

He sighed with emotions, this amount of exp could help him level up five times and take his strength to the next rank.

"Getting the space pocket spell is more important, I can always come back tomorrow," Alex said to himself as a form of self-consolation before giving a mental note for the system to craft the spell.

A notification that said "crafting" immediately appeared in front of him which only lasted for a few seconds before disappearing along with all of his exp points and leaving him with a pitiful two digits.

'My exp!' Alex lamented inwardly at the speed at which his exp vanished but the next notification from the system immediately brightened his mood.

[Ding! The spell has been crafted successfully and added to the host's spell slot.

Requirement for casting spell: Two-star patterns]

…..

Alex read the information about the spell, and his eyes lit up; the system classified it as a core spell.

"Worth it!" Alex said at the thought of the 500 exp he had just spent.

Looking down at the body of the beetle, Alex's eyes glowed with silver-white light as ten stars of the space element appeared and connected.

"Space pocket," he mumbled softly and placed his right hand on the body of the beast. Immediately after his hand landed on the beast, it disappeared without a trace; it had entered his space pocket!

"Sweet," Alex's face beamed behind his mask, he immediately turned around and went to where he had killed the other beasts. He was going to retrieve his money!
