Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Unpredictable Desk Mate

"Ha… ha…"

As soon as Anran finished speaking, some of the onlookers in the class couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Xiaoyou was clearly infuriated by Anran's words and attitude. She hadn't expected the other girl to throw her own words back at her. For a moment, Xiaoyou was speechless, her face flushed with anger, as if she were about to pounce at any second.

"Xiaoyou, stop it! Class is about to start!" Ai Xue raised her voice, her typically gentle tone now carrying a hint of firmness.

Sure enough, just as Ai Xue finished speaking, the bell rang, signaling the start of class.

Seeing this, Xiaoyou shot a venomous glare at Anran, as if to say, "Just you wait."

However, after Ai Xue's intervention, Xiaoyou seemed to regain her composure. She turned to those around her and said, "You know what? Not only does Xue have anemia, but yesterday, Master Jason even visited her. If I'm going to pay attention to anyone, it's going to be someone as charming as Ai Xue."

"Wow, is that true?"

At this, the class's attention shifted to Ai Xue, especially the girls, whose eyes filled with undisguised envy, wishing they could receive the same treatment as her.

Only Anran frowned. Jason? Wasn't he the leader of the group that had attacked them the previous evening?

Ai Xue smiled shyly, casting an apologetic glance in Anran's direction, as if trying to make up for her desk mate's behavior. But Anran had no interest in playing along and quickly averted her gaze.

So tired…

Despite the brief interruption during the break, sleepiness still clung to Anran. She had been dozing off all morning, her head nodding as the teacher's voice droned on like a lullaby. She really was exhausted…

Anran struggled to keep her heavy eyelids open. She hadn't noticed when the teacher stopped talking or when the class fell silent. The only sound was the deliberate, unhurried footsteps approaching from the classroom door. The footsteps stopped right beside her, and a soft murmur of gasps rippled through the room.

It was then that Anran felt a chilling presence behind her, sending a shiver down her spine and instantly waking her up. She turned her head to see a strikingly handsome man in black standing by the window.

It was him!

The sight of the man stunned Anran. His striking features, those distinctive violet eyes, and the aura of dark charisma he exuded—even in her drowsy state, she was instantly wide awake.

This was the same guy who had accosted her the day before, the one who had given her that ridiculous nickname, the one those odd people had called "His Highness Morris"!

But what was he doing here?

Before Anran could react, the man spoke, his voice cold and detached. "Is this yours?"

He pointed to the bag on the desk beside him. His fingers were slender and elegant, pale as if carved from jade. Anran's gaze lingered on the tip of his index finger, and a memory from the previous evening flashed in her mind. She knew all too well the strength in those hands. Remembering how they had encircled her waist, she felt a faint blush creep up her cheeks.

However, his tone was unexpectedly cold, and his handsome face was completely expressionless, as if they were strangers who had never met before. Was this really the same infuriating guy who had called her "kitten" the day before?

Though Anran didn't have a favorable impression of him, the stark contrast in his demeanor caught her off guard. Still, even with his impassive expression, he was just as irritating.

Gathering her composure, Anran replied calmly, "Yes, it's mine."

The man's perfect brows seemed to twitch slightly, and instantly, the classroom was filled with gleeful anticipation.

Now, this was going to be interesting!

Everyone in the class knew that seat belonged exclusively to His Highness Morris, even though he rarely showed up during the semester. The seat next to it—where Anran was sitting—had always remained empty, as no one dared to claim it.

When Ai Xue had suggested Anran take that seat, they all knew the transfer student was in for trouble. And now, she had the audacity to place her bag on Morris's desk? She was practically asking for it!
