Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Throne of Conquest

The gate creaked open with a sound like splitting heavens.

Leon stepped through, the scorched stone beneath his boots steaming with each step. The chamber beyond was vast an ancient cathedral of flame and shadow. Pillars of black obsidian reached into darkness, and at the center sat the Throne of Conquest.

It wasn't made of gold, or bone, or steel but carved from the core of a dead star. Power radiated from it in waves, making the air hum with promise… and danger.

[System Notification: You are now eligible to claim the Throne of Conquest]

Ifrit, now a kneeling figure at Leon's side, spoke with reverence. "Few have reached this place. Fewer still have survived it."

Leon didn't hesitate.

He approached the throne.

Ascension

The moment he placed a hand upon it, the entire Crucible trembled. Fire, ice, void, time all elemental forces surged through him in a spiral of agony and ecstasy.

Visions flashed before his eyes.

A world at war.

Empires bowing.

Stars dying.

A boy, broken and alone, rising from the dirt.

Blood Pact: Flame Sovereign (Permanently binds Ifrit as your Guardian)

Leon gritted his teeth as the throne consumed his old self stripping away the fragments of doubt, fear, and weakness.

When he opened his eyes again, they blazed with golden fire.

A message burned into the air before him:

[You Are No Longer a Player. You Are Now: Conqueror Rank 1 – Ascendant Monarch]

Outside the Crucible

The golden flames around Seraphina flared and then suddenly stabilized.

Elara gasped. "He did it… He's coming back."

But Nyx, wounded and laughing, whispered, "You think the game ends here?"

She held up a dark crystal and shattered it.

The air cracked open.

A spatial rift tore through the chamber.

And through it stepped a figure cloaked in blue flame, with glowing eyes and an all-too-familiar presence.

Seraphina's face went pale.

Leon's voice echoed from the Crucible, calm and cold. "What is that presence…?"

Nyx grinned with blood-stained teeth. "The only person you ever truly feared."

A voice answered, low and cruel.

"Hello, brother."

---

The Return of Cain

The space around the rift trembled as Cain stepped through.

He was taller than Leon remembered, his once-wild hair now smoothed back like a prince's crown, glowing blue with arcane runes. His armor shimmered like the void no metal, no cloth, but something far more ancient and alien.

But it was his eyes that silenced everyone.

They were empty.

No warmth, no malice.

Just abyss.

Leon froze as the name left his lips like a curse. "Cain…"

Cain smiled, slow and cruel. "It's been a while, little brother."

The Fractured Past

Seraphina's voice cracked. "Cain… you were supposed to be"

"Dead?" Cain asked, stepping closer, his mere presence distorting reality around him. "I was. For a while. But the System doesn't let valuable tools rust for long."

He raised a hand, and the air ignited with blue fire.

[System Alert: Unknown Variant Detected – Chosen Class: Requiem Sovereign]

Leon's jaw clenched. Requiem Sovereign? That class wasn't in the archives…

Cain continued, "While you played hero, Leon, I was in the Void learning. Becoming. I saw the real purpose of the System. And it's not conquest." He turned to Nyx and smiled. "It's extinction."

Brother vs. Brother

Leon summoned Ifrit, flames spiraling around him as he stepped forward. "I don't care what you saw. I'm not letting you destroy what's left of this world."

Cain laughed. "Then come. Show me how far the 'Emperor' has come."

He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

[Skill Activated: Null Ascendance]

The floor shattered beneath them. Seraphina and Elara were thrown back as a surge of void energy spiraled up between the brothers.

Leon met Cain's strike midair.

Steel clashed with pure void.

Fire met unmaking.

The sky above the Crucible split open.

And the mountain screamed.

Outside – The World Reacts

In the farthest reaches of the Eastern Empire, an Oracle screamed and dropped to her knees.

"The Lost King has returned…"

In the Western Federation, a dragon awoke from slumber and took flight toward the storm.

In the Undying Lands, the Chainlords stirred in their crypts. "One was dangerous. But two? Prepare the Final Protocol."

The whole world felt it two heirs of power colliding.

Back in the Crucible

Leon's blade cracked under Cain's pressure.

[Weapon Durability Critical – Infernal Edge: 9%]

Cain whispered, "You're not ready. But I'll let you live for now. I want you to see the world fall."

And in a blink, he was gone.

The void sealed behind him, leaving only silence.

Leon fell to his knees, breathing hard.

[System Update: Global Threat Level – S-Rank: Requiem Sovereign Identified]

New Objective Added: Stop Cain before he reaches the World Core.]

Leon rose, blood dripping from his fingers, fire in his eyes.

"This isn't over. You're not the only one who came back stronger, Cain."

The Gathering Storm

The storm above the Crucible had not faded.

It had deepened.

Dark clouds spiraled like the crown of a god, lightning flashing blood-red across the sky. The world had changed and every force across the continents could feel it.

Inside the War Room – Emberhold Fortress

Leon stood before a war table shaped like the continents of Aetherius. Magical projections displayed strongholds, factions, threat levels, and leyline convergence zones. His generals some human, some not stood at his sides, tension thick as steel.

Seraphina spoke first. "If Cain reaches the World Core, the System itself could become corrupted."

Elara nodded. "And once that happens, it's not just this world that's at risk. The multiverse itself could unravel."

A cold voice cut through the air Ifrit, standing behind Leon with arms crossed.

"We must act now. Every realm must choose a side. There will be no neutrality when gods go to war."

New Objective – The Council of Sovereigns

[System Update: You must secure allegiance from the Five Sovereign Factions] The Beastkin Tribes of Varnhelm

The Skyborne Elites of Zephyria

The Crystal Clans of Uldrak

The Undying Court of Necros

The Hidden Empire of Aetherium

Leon nodded. "I'll go myself."

Elara blinked. "Alone?"

"They won't come for anything less than my voice. I wear the Crown of Dominion now. It's time I wielded it."

Scene Shift – Forgotten Continent, Edge of the Dead Forest

Meanwhile, Cain stood atop a hill of ash and bone.

His eyes swept the deadland, as his cloak fluttered like a living shadow.

At his side knelt an old friend Nyx, fully corrupted, her soul burning with voidfire.

Cain raised a hand.

Behind him, a legion emerged from the earth.

Thousands of creatures, born not of nature but of pure system decay Glitchborn, Hollow Knights, and Null Drakes. They moved without breath, without mercy.

He smiled.

"Let's begin with Necros."

Scene Shift – Uldrak, City of Crystal Thrones

A diplomatic envoy was never welcomed with open arms in Uldrak.

But when Leon entered the crystal palace, adorned in a new set of imperial armor forged from Ifrit's fire and Seraphina's light, the guards bowed low.

Queen Rhaelia of the Crystal Clans stared down at him with narrowed eyes.

"You are not the same boy who once fled this world."

"I'm not," Leon replied. "I'm the Emperor who will save it."
