Chapter 37 - 37 - Sorry, This Road Is Blocked! Brutally Beating Fiora! I Don’t Have Backup? Who Told You That?

Kent Farm:

Azuma Shoyo tilted his head back, gazing at the sky.

Normal people couldn't see what was happening beyond the atmosphere. Only in a few spots could the naked eye catch a glimpse of that bizarre, octopus-like Kryptonian mothership.

But Azuma Shoyo? He could make out every detail of the massive ship in orbit.

He noticed a small, bug-shaped shuttle detach from the mothership.

A little while later, it returned.

"They've taken Clark," he thought.

"Oh, right—and Lois Lane, too. Wonder why Zod bothered? Just because she's close to Clark? Planning to use her as leverage?"

But if it was about leverage, Zod had already threatened the entire planet to force Clark out.

Grabbing Lois on top of that felt a bit redundant.

Whatever—maybe Zod just wanted an easier way to pressure Clark.

Like killing the chicken to scare the monkey.

After all, empty threats don't carry much weight.

A few minutes later:

Azuma Shoyo spotted two more bug-shaped shuttles launch from the mothership, heading straight for Smallville.

"Here we go!"

He cracked his wrists and rolled his neck, then turned to Martha Kent.

"Hide in the basement. Come out when they're gone."

"Shoyo, stay safe!" she said before darting inside.

"Stay safe?" Azuma Shoyo grinned. "They're the ones who should watch out!"

All those days soaking up the sun? That was prep for this fight!

His strength now edged out Clark's—just slightly.

And sometimes, that tiny edge decided the whole battle!

Plus, he'd squeezed in some online research on fighting techniques. With his super brain, he'd memorized them all. Now it was time to put them into practice.

BZZZ—

A buzzing filled the air as two shuttles, their rear ends glowing blue, descended onto Kent Farm.

One's hatch slid open, and four Kryptonians in black armor stepped out.

Zod, leading them, frowned at Azuma Shoyo blocking their path.

"Who are you? Why are you wearing Kryptonian armor?"

Though the colors and style differed, Zod instantly recognized the design.

"Sorry! Road's closed!"

Azuma Shoyo stood firm, barring their way.

"General, let me handle him," Faora said, stepping forward with an icy glare.

Zod nodded.

His instincts screamed that this young-looking guy was no pushover.

BANG!

With Zod's approval, Faora charged at Azuma Shoyo in a blur of speed.

"Earth scum, die!"

Her right fist rocketed toward his face.

To her, a lowly Earthling daring to wear Kryptonian armor was an insult. She didn't waste words—just went for the kill.

But she'd underestimated him, assuming he was as fragile as the rest of Earth's humans, easily crushed by a Kryptonian.

Reality?

BOOM!

A figure slammed into the ground.

The impact cratered the earth, cracks spiderwebbing out as dirt exploded into the air!

Faora, floored by a single punch, was dazed.

Before she could recover, Azuma Shoyo grabbed her head, hoisted her up, and asked, "Who'd you say you're killing?"

With a casual toss, he launched her skyward—then drove a brutal kick into her.

BANG!

Faora broke the sound barrier, rocketing away.

BOOM!

She smashed into the shuttle they'd arrived in, igniting it into a fireball that lit up the sky.

A massive blaze roared upward!

Start to finish? Three or four seconds.

Zod and his crew didn't even have time to react before Azuma Shoyo took out one of their own.

"Didn't expect this planet to have another of our kind!" Zod said, narrowing his eyes with a chilling stare.

"Aren't you gonna check if your lackey's dead?" Azuma Shoyo asked.

"No need. If Faora's gone, she'll be buried as a martyr—right here on our new home!" Zod replied coldly.

Azuma Shoyo let out a scoff.

"Zod, aren't you a little too confident?"

"You're strong—stronger than Kal-El!" Zod said, his two remaining henchmen flanking him.

Now it was three-on-one.

"But we've got three—and I've got more where that came from," Zod sneered arrogantly. "What about you? Got any backup? Counting on those humans?"

"Backup? Oh, I've got backup—and he's already here," Azuma Shoyo grinned.

The next second—

BANG!

Zod, mid-boast, was suddenly tackled by a blur of motion.

"Earth doesn't welcome you, Zod!"

Clark seized Zod by the throat, slamming him into the cornfield. Sparks flew as they tore through the ground, hurtling kilometers in an instant before crashing into several natural gas tanks on Smallville's outskirts.

BOOM!

BOOM!!

BOOM—

Explosions erupted one after another.

The blast flung both Clark and Zod into the air.

They landed hard on a road.

Clark sprang up, unscathed.

Zod, on the other hand, wasn't looking so hot.
