Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 – A Prisoner in a Golden Cage

Heaven paced her room, her fists clenched at her sides. The tension in the mansion had been unbearable for the past few days. She wasn't blind—she knew something big was happening. The hushed conversations, the increased security, the way Dylan barely looked at her before disappearing for hours.

Something was wrong.

And she hated being left in the dark.

She stormed out of her room and marched downstairs, her frustration growing as she spotted Jayden near the entrance.

"Jayden," she called, her voice firm.

Jayden hesitated before turning to her. "Miss Heaven, you should be resting."

"Cut the crap," she snapped. "Where is Dylan?"

Jayden shifted uncomfortably. "Busy."

"Doing what?"

Silence.

Heaven exhaled sharply, her patience wearing thin. "I'm not stupid. I know something is going on, and I deserve to know the truth."

Jayden remained expressionless. "It's not your concern, Miss Heaven."

Her nails dug into her palms. "Not my concern?" She scoffed. "I was kidnapped, held against my will, and thrown into Dylan Martin's world. How is it not my concern?"

Before Jayden could respond, a deep voice cut through the room.

"That's enough."

Dylan stood at the top of the staircase, his presence commanding as ever. His black shirt was unbuttoned at the top, his sleeves rolled up, and a faint bruise marked his knuckle.

Heaven's heart pounded.

"You're back," she murmured, taking a step forward.

Dylan descended the stairs, his eyes locked onto hers. "And you're still as stubborn as ever."

"Where were you?" she demanded. "What are you hiding from me?"

Dylan smirked. "I don't owe you an explanation."

Her blood boiled. "You don't get to decide what I should or shouldn't know!"

Dylan's gaze darkened, his amusement vanishing. He stepped closer, his voice low. "You think you can handle the truth, kitten?"

Her breath hitched, but she refused to back down. "Try me."

He exhaled, running a hand through his hair before shaking his head. "You don't belong in this world, Heaven."

"I never asked to be in it!" she shot back. "But I am. So stop treating me like I'm fragile."

Dylan studied her for a long moment before turning away. "Go back to your room."

"Dylan—"

"Now."

His tone left no room for argument.

Heaven watched as he walked away, frustration twisting inside her.

She wasn't involved in his war.

But she was still trapped in it.

And no matter how much Dylan tried to keep her away from the truth, she would find a way to uncover it.

Even if it meant going against him.
