In the next two days, nothing particularly world-shattering occurred—on the surface.
Black Bolt, the Black Bat King of Attilan, formally expressed his intention to take Skye back to the Inhuman stronghold to undergo the Trekking Transformation—a second-phase Terrigenesis refinement only administered to high-potential Inhumans. Following the transformation, she would be introduced to her mother, Jiaying, leader of the Enlightened Clan of Afterlife.
However, as expected, Skye was not so easily swayed. Influenced by Coulson's earnest words and the newfound bond she'd built with the people of Chaldea, she approached Shen He personally with a plea to remain within the organization for now.
Shen He, who had been expecting this, simply lifted his pen and signed off on her assignment—placing her under Coulson's command.
At the time, he was in the midst of his 100th hour of dungeon battles within the system.
"Qi Mu, the breakthrough to your twentieth level requires the core of a mutated Desolate God—specifically, the Heavenly Father Diaus," Shen He noted, voice cool and analytical.
Raising Qi Mu Nanxiong to level 20 had revealed the first true bottleneck—the level cap. And now, with the material list clearly laid out, it was obvious the system was taking things to another level.
"We don't have the true name of this Aragami," Qi Mu's calm telepathic voice reached Shen He. "You'll need to connect to the dungeon records."
"I've seen what this Desolate thing looks like," Shen He sighed, arms crossed, "But I've got no idea where to find it. It's a rare spawn."
He recalled the God Eater series from his anime-watching days—Diaus Pita, the terrifying early boss Aragami that tormented both protagonists. A mutated version of it would surely mean extreme challenge and rare drop rates.
In other words, Qi Mu was right: they'd need more dungeon data to locate the thing.
"Time's up for today," Jeanne d'Arc approached, brushing ash from her armor as Violet trailed beside her.
"Yeah… we'll regroup next time," Shen He nodded. He exhaled deeply, mentally preparing. "I'll start rolling once we're back."
Truthfully, Shen He was more intrigued by something else—the potential evolution of his system. This thing wasn't just for grinding mobs and hoarding cards. It had multiversal reach, summoning freedom, and even dungeon traversal tech. A system like that had to have more layers.
He didn't have to wait long. The moment the dungeon timer expired and they were warped back to the Marvel dimension, his system pinged.
Ding.
Detected: Accumulated 100 Summoning Stones.
Unlocking special item features. Advanced Summoning Pool unlocked.
Auto-scanning for rare dungeon worlds…
Ding!
Special Dungeon Recorded: World of "A Certain Magical Index" — Active for a Limited Time.
Special Summoning Pool Opened (Time-Limited).
Summon Rate Up: Misaka Mikoto.
Shen He remained utterly still.
Very calm.
He didn't even blink when he saw the Toaru universe being added. Not when Mikoto Misaka's card appeared in the rate-up banner.
This was totally expected.
He definitely didn't nearly headbutt the ceiling.
With a deadpan face, Shen He tapped the ten-pull button for the new banner. He didn't even check the special item unlocks—nor did he acknowledge the glowing "limited-time" tag.
The interface remained unchanged from the standard summon screen. Three-star junk still dropped like usual.
Until pull number seven.
A glowing four-star card glided in—finally.
Name: Crescent Rose
Origin: RWBY
Type: Equipment
Description: A high-caliber sniper rifle that transforms into a scythe. Autoloads dust bullets. Elegant, lethal, and fast.
Shen He cracked a smile. He remembered that scythe—it had style. Violet was going to love this thing.
Pull number ten came. A new card materialized—no stars.
Name: Limited-Time Travel
Type: Event Card
Description: Travel to any follower's world for one day. Return guaranteed. World state observed, not affected.
"Huh," Shen He muttered, finally impressed. "That's new."
"Master?" Jeanne, Violet, and Skye had circled around.
Shen He explained the card's effect to them.
"We can visit Qi Mu's world to check on Shinsuke… or maybe jump into Lelouch's universe to support Nanaly."
"Please don't bring everyone to my world." Qi Mu looked genuinely alarmed. "That'd be catastrophic."
"Relax," Shen He said with a shrug. "It's just one card. There'll be more in the future."
His reassurance, of course, did nothing to calm Qi Mu.
Still, the summons had to continue.
His first ten-pull yielded no followers. Shen He narrowed his eyes. Calm. Stay calm. This was a boosted rate. Misaka Mikoto should drop, right?
The circle pulsed again.
Nothing… nothing…
Pull nine—another item card.
Name: Limited-Time Enhancement (Beginner)
Type: Buff Item
Effect: Instantly boost a follower by 20 levels for one hour. Cooldown: 48 hours.
It was a solid support tool—perfect for Qi Mu's Level 40 form. But Shen He didn't even glance at it. His attention was glued to the tenth pull.
A gold flare.
Five-Star Equipment Unlocked
Name: Haunted by Evil Spirits
Origin: Akame ga Kill!
Type: Defensive Armor
Effect: Auto-evolving armor with adaptive durability and stealth features. Power grows with user level.
"Come on!" Shen He groaned.
Twenty summoning stones gone—no new followers. Just items and gear.
Was it because he hadn't "absorbed European luck" the other night?
Joan watched him quietly, noting the shift in atmosphere. She hadn't seen him like this before. His stress was contagious.
Still, he pressed on.
Another ten-pull. The button clicked.
Why couldn't it be like that glorious first summon—immediate five-star Servant?
As if the system heard his rant, pull number three sparked gold. The interface chimed with an ethereal flute.
His eyes widened. It's finally her—
Ding!
Congratulations. New Five-Star Super Rare Servant Acquired: Accelerator.
"—!!!"
Shen He turned ghost-white.
It had… twisted.
A fake rate-up!
Shen He's jaw clenched. "Fake rate up! That's cheating!"
Accelerator?! That twisted maniac?! He's not Misaka! Not even close! He's not even Ryoko Mendou from Urusei Yatsura!
Then a voice echoed in Shen He's mind—unreadable, without gender.
"Hey. I accepted the summon. What's the trade?"
"Power," Shen He snapped without hesitation.
"A power with rules," the voice whispered. "Something no one will question or resist."
With a final growl, Shen He slammed the last ten-pull button. If he was going down, he'd do it loud.
