Felix woke up and didn't see Gloria beside him.
He woke up, tapped his watch twice, and his entire body was instantly covered in armor.
Nanotech really does wonders.
Felix sent David a message, telling him to be the first to call if anything went wrong.
Then Felix received a call.
[Mr. Hands: Oh Felix, you finally returned to Night City. If you're looking for work, I'm waiting.]
[Felix: Come on, you know me. If it's a good job, I'm all yours.]
[Mr. Hands: That's the Felix I like. I've got something, I'll send the details. Bye.]
Mr. Hands hung up. In this world, he had previously worked with the body Felix now inhabited.
Felix suited up and prepared his weapons.
There was a raid to be done in Pacifica.
The Voodoo Boys were messing with things beyond their understanding, and Felix had a pretty good idea why.
They were trying to breach the Blackwall—
And Netwatch likely wanted to get rid of them because of it.
Felix headed out to Pacifica.
It was evening.
He arrived near the abandoned intel hub, scanning the area. Voodoo Boys were on patrol. Felix used nanobots to deploy a drone too small to be seen with the naked eye.
He pulled out Phantom from his inventory.
Thank god the AI Hades was working here.
Felix: Hades, freeze all the cameras—make it look like nothing happened.
Hades' voice echoed in his mind: "As you wish, sir."
While Hades disabled the cameras, Felix's armor fully deployed—only his face remained visible.
He jumped to the nearest cover and scanned the area.
Three guards outside.
He silently approached a lone one from behind, drew his knife, muffled the man, and slit his throat.
Then he merged with him—his memories flowed into Felix's mind as he shapeshifted into the man.
The Alex Mercer template worked wonders.
He passed through the area with ease. As he neared the main hub, someone stopped him—
Placide.
Placide looked wary:
"Jack, what are you doing here? Didn't Brigitte tell you not to leave your post?"
Felix—now Jack:
"Come on, mano, walking the perimeter is a kind of post."
Placide gave him a suspicious look, eyes narrowing.
Placide: "Something's off about you today, Jack. You're unusually quiet… You never shut up."
Felix (as Jack), smirking:
"Maybe you're finally learning to take me seriously, Placide."
Placide:"Whatever. I've got business inside. Brigitte's upstairs. Stay sharp."
Placide brushed past him. Felix held his breath.
He made it through undetected… for now.
Once inside, Hades spoke again.
Hades:"Felix, I've located the main server room. You'll need to pass through three corridors. At least five active targets."
Felix (whispering):"Five won't be a problem. The real mission is grabbing the data. Get to work, Hades—crack all the backdoors. We leave the moment we're done."
Felix moved with precision, sticking to the shadows.
Suddenly, a muffled voice echoed from deeper inside.
[Netrunner 1]:"Something's off in the system... lag in the connection."
[Netrunner 2]:"It's normal, we're nearing the Blackwall. Relax."
Felix (to himself):"Keep thinking that…"
He reached a sealed door. Hades unlocked it silently.
Inside, holographic networks, data streams, and active packets filled the air.
The target—Voodoo Boys' prototype Blackwall breach data capsules.
Hades:"Data transfer started. 3 minutes to complete."
Felix:"Three minutes? That's generous."
Just then—an alarm blared.
Hades:"They detected my breach. They're coming."
Felix (coldly):"Get ready, Hades. Once we're done, we burn this place down."
Felix drew his weapons. Footsteps closed in fast.
Voodoo Boys were swarming.
He dropped the disguise—armor fully sealed up except for his face.
Download: 79%.
Felix:"Damn it…"
Suddenly, the door burst open.
Placide, Brigitte, and their men stormed in.
Felix grinned:"Brigitte… what a lovely surprise."
Brigitte's face twisted with rage:"You bastard. What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
Felix chuckled:"Trying to stop you from tearing the whole system apart with your idiotic obsession with the Blackwall."
Brigitte:"Oh come on, Felix. We both know that's a lie. If we break through, we'll evolve—don't you see? Reality is just data flow."
Placide raised his weapon:"Enough talk."
Just as he was about to fire—
Hades:"Download complete. Data secured."
Felix pulled a grenade from his inventory, yanked the pin, and tossed it.
Everyone dove for cover.
BOOM!
The blast roared like thunder.
Felix dashed out.
Placide and Brigitte had retreated.
Felix pulled out Phantom (like from Valorant).
Ten enemies opened fire.
Felix vaulted from cover, lunging at the nearest target.
Using the man as a meat shield, he absorbed him with Blacklight before he died.
He darted to the next cover.
Two more rushed him—he leapt and fired mid-air.
His bullets tore through frozen time.
They dropped.
Felix moved in on the final group for melee.
He crushed one's throat, stabbed another through the chest, and took down the rest with brutal precision.
Then, using Blacklight, he absorbed the bodies. A wave of power surged through him—
But there was no time. He slipped away.
Minutes later, he exited the building.
The darkness of Night City swallowed him again.
Message received.
[Sender: Netwatch – HUNTER, we'll handle the data from here. We liked the job. Expect extra pay.]
Felix checked the location and made his way there.
Night. Dogtown. An abandoned factory.
At 1:59 AM, three armored vehicles arrived.
A Netwatch agent approached, flanked by guards—all equipped with military-grade implants.
Agent:"Hunter. You have the data?"
Felix (transferring):"Yes. Uploading now."
Transfer complete.
200,000 eurodollars hit his account.
Felix's eyes widened. That was insane money.
Felix:"Netwatch is... generous. A pleasure doing business."
Agent:"Likewise."
The agent got into his car, guards followed, and they vanished.
3:00 AM. Santa Domingo.
Felix returned to Gloria's apartment.
She was asleep on the couch, woke when the door opened—she had been waiting.
She stood up in front of him.
Gloria:"Felix… more of the same stuff?"
Felix (chuckling):"Yep. Buuut—I brought you a surprise."
Using Hades, Felix transferred 20,000 eurodollars to her.
That amount would take a normal worker ten years to earn—if they didn't spend a cent.
Gloria jumped in excitement, then hugged Felix and kissed his cheek:
"Thank you, Felix. For everything."
Felix laughed:"Haha, Gloria… you're always the same. Seeing you smile makes it all worth it."
And so the night passed.
