Chapter 9 - 9. The Game of Predators.

Rae's pulse quickened. This wasn't just a casual meeting.

What exactly was going on between them? And more importantly—how did this connect to Shan's transfer?

As the Executive Director was pounding Ingrid from behind to relieve himself, he slapped Ingrid's ass cheek hard, then said,

"How's that, huh? Takes you back, doesn't it?"

Ingrid just moaned as he took her deeper by force.

"Sir… please… Ah!" Ingrid cried.

"Just look at the mess you've made!!"

The Executive Director said as he slapped her even harder.

"I'm sorry...!" cried Ingrid.

Then, in a disturbed and pissed-off tone, the Executive Director said,

"I'm sure you had your reasons, so you better fuckin' answer. Why did you cancel Mr. Wolf's transfer?"

"He… Shan wasn't the one… who did it… I… just couldn't." Ingrid's voice trembled between ragged breaths as the Executive Director increased his pace, his grip on her tightening.

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore," he said, his tone cold, unwavering. He didn't slow down. If anything, he seemed even more determined.

"You've done what you could to secure your position. So tell me, Ingrid, was it sudden pity? Or does he have something on you… something you can't bring yourself to tell me about?"

Little did they know, Rae Yoorin was watching from behind the closed doors, her breath shallow as she pieced the situation together.

She recalled the hotel—something had happened there. Something involving Shan. And now, Ingrid was caught in the middle.

Rae's grip on the doorframe tightened. She should leave. She knew she should. But instead, she stayed, her eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before her.

Ingrid whimpered, her nails scraping against the metal shelf.

Rae Yoorin's heart pounded.

Just what the hell was Shan involved in?

And how deep did this go?

Excited by the moment, the Executive Director released his cock and spread Ingrid's asshole wider.

"My, my, you're not wet at all. Was it because it's been a while?" he said.

Ingrid reminisced about her past—how the Executive Director had invited her to meet the Chairman when she was just an normal employee to provide her and her daughter, only to discover it was an orgy party. She had realized then that to reach new heights and secure a future for herself and her daughter, who was only five years old at the time, she had to sacrifice her dignity.

Rae Yoorin moved quickly, her fingers trembling with excitement as she pulled out her phone, aiming to capture the scene unfolding before her. Just as she pressed record—her phone slipped.

The faint clatter echoed through the storage room.

Ingrid's body tensed. Her breath hitched. She turned her head slightly, scanning the dimly lit space, though the Executive Director's grip on her never wavered.

"Hmm? Are you afraid someone might see us?" his voice was laced with amusement, his thrusts never slowing.

Ingrid swallowed hard, trying to suppress her panic.

"No, sir… hngh… ah… ah…" she whimpered, her words broken by his relentless pace.

The Executive Director groaned deeply, his fingers digging into her hips as he drove himself to the edge. With one final thrust, he spilled into the condom, his breath ragged against her skin.

After putting on their half-worn clothes, the Executive Director turned to Ingrid.

"You've done well all this time. That's what got you where you are today. But don't forget—twice the price, double the fall. I'll let it slide this one time."

Before leaving, he paused at the door, casting one last glance over his shoulder.

"Be careful now… or the consequences will be unimaginable."

Ingrid replied, "Yes, sir."

With that, they left the storage facility, their footsteps fading into the distance.

Rae Yoorin, still hidden, let out a quiet breath. She had managed to avoid detection. But as she turned to leave, she noticed something—her phone was missing.

Her eyes darted to the floor where she had dropped it.

But it was no longer there.

Unaware that it was now in Ingrid's hand.

An hour later, Ingrid sat in her office, staring at the phone on her desk. She had picked it up absentmindedly, unaware that it belonged to Rae Yoorin.

As she absentmindedly turned it over in her hands, a thought crossed her mind—Bae Sik Gong. Her daughter's tutor.

She remembered that he studied computers and technology.

Curious, Ingrid pulled out his tutoring resume and scanned through it again.

Her eyes narrowed.

Bae Sik Gong was currently studying computer science.

Later, Rae Yoorin sipped on a cup of iced coffee, frustrated over losing her phone. She had at least managed to call the phone station and disable her SIM card.

Just as she turned a corner—she collided with someone.

Cold coffee splashed all over her dress.

"Are you kidding me?! What the fuck is wrong with you?!" she snapped, her voice sharp with irritation.

The receptionist, a young woman, flinched and quickly bowed. "I'm so sorry! It's my first day here."

Rae Yoorin's anger flared. "First day? FIRST DAY?! Do you have any idea how much this dress cost me, rookie?!"

The new receptionist's eyes welled up with tears, her hands trembling.

"That's enough, Ms. Yoorin."

The voice cut through the tension like a blade.

Rae Yoorin froze. Slowly, she turned—Shan stood at the entrance, his gaze filled with pure disdain.

Her confidence wavered.

"Oh… um… Mr. Wolf," she stammered.

"You should watch where you're going. Or… perhaps you're just trying to blame someone again?"

Shan's words were sharp, like a needle piercing through Rae Yoorin's pride. A warning—one she couldn't ignore.

"What? When did I… do something like that…?" she stammered, trying to defend herself.

But as she spoke, her gaze drifted past Shan—to the receptionist behind him, desperately trying to wipe her tears.

Before Rae could say another word—

"What seems to be the problem?"

Gang Si Won stepped onto the scene, his eyes sweeping over the tension in the air, watching as the situation unfolded.

Rae Yoorin defended herself, but the receptionist spoke up in her own defense, backed by Shan's firm support.

Gang Si Won sighed, glancing between them. "Okay, look, it was just an accident. So let's let bygones be bygones, alright? Shake on it."

Rae Yoorin opened her mouth to protest. "But… she—"

Gang Si Won shot her a disappointed look, cutting her off.

Reluctantly, Rae Yoorin extended her hand. The rookie receptionist hesitated for a moment before shaking it—but as their hands met, Rae felt an unexpectedly firm grip, a silent message behind the gesture.

She quickly pulled her hand away, scoffing under her breath, before turning to leave with Gang Si Won.

Now, only Shan and the receptionist remained.

The rookie smirked, stretching her fingers as if relishing the moment. "Okay, I did my part," the receptionist said playfully, turning to Shan.

"Yup, you did well—just as we planned yesterday." Shan said with a satisfied look.

"Pleasure doing business, Ms.…?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Sae Jin Mei. But call me Foxie for now, Mr. Wolf," she replied with a playful smirk. "I like being called a fox. Wanna know why?"

Shan smirked. "Let me guess—sly as a fox?"

"You know it, sugar. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got work to do." Sae Jin Mei winked before strutting back to the receptionist desk.

Shan watched her go, amused.

He had personally recommended her through a clean application—another chance at life after he had used his ability, not once but several times, to pull her out of jail. A redemption arc, of sorts. But if the time ever came… he would call on her again.

As he stepped into the elevator, he exhaled, rubbing his chin in thought.

"Maybe I should give a name to my ability," he murmured to himself, his mind drifting back to the power he had possessed since infancy.

What would he call it?
