Chapter 26 - "Sweetie, What Reward Do You Want From Sister?"

Shen Qin didn't immediately begin the development of the prosthetics. He still had to finalize the library management system to complete the long-delayed system task.

『 Temporary Task ― Design a Library Management System For Lisa 』

『 Unlocked Branch Upon Completion ― Library Terminal Blueprint, Automaton Principles, Teyvat Coding Language 』

『 Status ― Incomplete 』

"I wonder if Lisa has looked at the proposal," he mused, locking the door of his alchemy workshop before heading to the library. As he expected, the stack of documents remained untouched.

"Make whatever modifications you like, as long as you don't tear the place down," Lisa said lazily from her recliner. Ever since the library system went live, her workload had significantly decreased, leaving her almost idle apart from shelving misplaced books before clocking out each day.

Shen Qin couldn't help but wonder if even Jean had deducted her pay for that.

"Feels like you're thinking some rather rude thoughts," Lisa remarked, casting him a sideways glance.

'This witch's sharp sixth sense is truly terrifying.' Shen Qin dared not think further and worked himself with the measurements needed for customizing the rails and the robotic arm's dimensions.

Lisa stretched and yawned, finding his bustling about with measurements quite dull.

Although she had briefly skimmed the proposal, most of it detailed mechanical and coding principles—fields she had no great interest in. While she understood some of it, her knowledge was far from proficient, especially in coding, which she actively avoided.

Back in Sumeru, she had witnessed scholars from the Akademiya delve into the mysteries of 〈Teyvat's essence 〉often losing their sanity in the process. Their experimental notes were sealed and forbidden. Out of curiosity, Lisa once secretly peeked at one, only to faint and awaken an hour later.

Though she could no longer recall the specifics, fragments of the terms "coding" and "truth" lingered in her mind.

Since then, Lisa had vowed never to seek deeper truths, opting instead to leave Sumeru and become a carefree librarian in Mondstadt.

"Embrace the unknown, true magic lies in ignorance" she mused as this has now become her code of conduct.

"Lisa! Lisa!"

Her thoughts were interrupted by Shen Qin's voice. He stood nearby, looking concerned.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just reminiscing a bit," she replied, reverting to her usual nonchalant demeanor. "Are you done already?"

"I've recorded all the data; I just need to head back to the workshop to start the work."

"Good. Make sure to quickly implement the auto-sorting function to save this sister from these tiresome chores!" Lisa sighed theatrically.

Shen Qin shuddered at the memory of being forced to reorganize the library and hurriedly replied, "I'll finish it by tomorrow!"

Back at the workshop, Shen Qin immediately began constructing the rails.

The rails would be mounted on the library's ceiling and supply power to the robotic arms via Electro Crystals. Once the rails were ready, he moved on to creating the robotic arms.

The arms could move along the rails using pulleys, extend up to ten meters, and rotate freely. Each arm was equipped with a scanning module for precise book identification.

With everything prepared, Shen Qin hired workers the next morning to help install the rails and arms in the library.

Standing at the library terminal, he pulled out the system-provided keyboard and began live-updating the system.

Within thirty minutes, the update was complete. Shen Qin pressed "Auto-Sort," and the robotic arms sprang into action. They collected misplaced books from the counter, loaded them into a basket on the arm, and efficiently returned them to their correct shelves.

"I've also added a special function," Shen Qin explained. "If borrowers know the title of the book they want, they can request it directly at the terminal. The robotic arms will deliver the book to the counter. Borrowing and returning processes have also been streamlined—users only need to register their name once. After that, the terminal automatically recognizes them and logs their transactions."

Lisa was delighted by the enhancements. With the new system, her job truly became the epitome of ease.

"Sweetie, what reward do you want from sister?" Lisa asked warmly, clearly satisfied with the system's final version.

Shen Qin didn't even look back as he headed out. "Lisa, I've got something urgent to attend to. We'll talk later!"

"What a clueless guy…" Lisa muttered, amused.

Shen Qin indeed had pressing matters. After completing the library system update, the system notified him that the temporary task was completed. He now had one random blueprint draw, which he planned to use to test a theory.

"System, draw a blueprint," he inwardly thought.

『 Random Blueprint Drawing… 』

『 Congratulation Traveler For Unlocking The Blueprint ─" Bionic Skin " 』

As expected! The system provided blueprints tied to real-world applications.

When Shen Qin developed the hoverboard, it coincided perfectly with the upcoming flight competition. Now that he was preparing to work on bionic prosthetics, the system granted him a related blueprint—bionic skin.

Shen Qin closed his eyes, "looking" at the second mainline task the system had issued after the hoverboard.

『 Main Task: Develop an alchemical product that benefits humanity and earns you fame 』

『 Immediate Unlockable Blueprint/Knowledge ─ The Traveler may request 'any' blueprint/knowledge that's related in this task 』

『 Reward ─ 1 Random Blueprint Gacha Privilege 』

『 The next phase of the mainline task will be revealed after you successfully created a product and earned a significant fame. This system hopes that you learn and strive to become the foremost alchemist that will lead this world's people to a better future. 』

After the gliding competition, Shen Qin had pondered what kind of invention could meet these conditions. His encounter with Glory sparked an idea, and his conversation with Katheryne solidified his understanding of what could truly benefit humanity.

"...System, I need a technology that connects human nerves to bionic mechanical prosthetics."

『 Understood! 』

『 Unlockable Blueprint/Knowledge ─ Virtual Neural Technology 』
