Chapter 24 - What's in the box?

"There you go, a drink. Turns out we do have some; I just didn't know where it was. Needed to go check for myself."

Jared uttered with a smile as he sat back down and placed the alcohol bottle on the ground, along with some cups he grabbed on the way.

The bottle looked weird to them, made from some kind of transparent glass that allowed them to see the liquid inside.

And while Olsen was confused as to where Jared could have found such a drink, he didn't want to look like an idiot in front of the very people he was trying to intimidate.

There was still a chance it was from beyond the northern walls.

There have been times people found strange items just lying at the border.

"A stolen drink. I expected as much from the likes of you, hahaha. I shall drink it nonetheless," Olsen said as he laughed mockingly.

"Please do... Lucy..." Jared called out.

Lucy stepped forward and went low to pour the alcohol into the cup.

[Olsen has begun to admire Lucy's body. He has taken a liking to her.]

Jared immediately turned his gaze toward Olsen, who had begun to lick his lips. He didn't seem like he wanted to hide it either.

This was exactly why Jared chose not to allow Ria or any other woman to come with him.

But right now, he needed to play his cards right.

"Here you go..."

Lucy stood in front of Olsen, stretching the cup of alcohol toward his face.

She had a disgusted look on her face, as if she were standing in front of an animal's dung.

And yet, for some reason, Olsen found that attractive.

"Thank you..."

Olsen grabbed the cup from her, but right after, he smacked her on the ass, allowing himself a good laugh.

Lucy nearly pulled out her blade, only to be met with an unapproving look from Jared.

Taking a sigh, she walked away, finding herself back next to her master.

*Sip*

Olsen chugged down a bit of alcohol.

He felt the burn in his throat, nothing like the booze he had been drinking from the local pubs in his village.

Shaking his head in a bit of confusion and satisfaction, he focused on the cup.

"Woooo, this is really sharp! You had this with you all this time... I'm impressed, little former chief. I wonder what else you have that you are hiding from me."

Jared replied,

"Why don't you give me my fiancée, and I'll show you all of it."

There was a pause.

"Oh... The woman I took from you. Don't worry, I didn't forget about that." Olsen took another gulp. "Well, as long as you are willing to give me your watering hole, that is."

"I don't get it. There are so many other villages with even bigger watering holes than ours. Why are you trying to take this little one when you can get others..."

"There is nothing little about the watering hole you own; if anything, it's possibly one of the best in the entire northern region. Besides, it's closer to the borders, meaning easier trade for me."

[The goddess of trade is impressed by the wits of this man.]

"Trade to whom? Any kingdom outside of the northern land will surely have a direct source of water. They don't need to come all the way here for that."

*Chug!*

Olsen flushed down the last of the alcohol in his cup into his mouth and then stretched it out for more.

Jared picked up the bottle and began to pour it in for him.

*Belch!*

"You really... don't know anything, boy! O... our waters are not normal water... the healing properties it has due to the mana flow are impressive. They can use it to heal almost anything; that includes fighting demons. It's why people from the outside world want it." Olsen's face had taken a slight red form due to how high he was getting.

[The god of trade is once again impressed by this and expects you should have learned a thing or two.]

"That is true; so far, since there are no drugs in this world, this is the only way people can rely on healing sickness and other forms of infection. Who would have known our water had that? Now that I think of it, I have never seen anyone from the north sick," Jared thought to himself.

"Again."

Olsen stretched his cup out for another round of alcohol.

To which Jared willingly refilled with a smile on his face.

Orlando was a bit concerned; his master was ranting more than usual about information he would have never told anyone about unless they paid him.

At the same time, he didn't know whether to step in and stop it or just watch.

If he should do anything to anger Jared, he knew the lady standing beside him would fight for his cause, and from what he could see, there was a chance she could be stronger than him.

"So you sell everything from the north to the people from the outside?"

"Why, of course. Hahaha, the other villages don't know what they have, so why not? I take it from them and then sell it out to the people who know what they want! Bahahahahah!"

Smiling, Jared refilled his cup again.

"And the box, may I know what's inside?"

Olsen suddenly glared.

Jared smiled.

"Should I be telling you this?" asked Olsen.

Jared smiled, giving no response.

"It's the brat I took from you. Hahahahah!" Olsen laughed, often looking at Orlando, who was frowning at him. "She wouldn't stop whining coming along, silly girl, hahaha; thinking about it makes me crack up so bad."

"So right now, Kiara is inside that box next to your bodyguard?"

"Uh? Yes, I just said so."

"Lucy."

"Yes, my lord."

Lucy immediately charged forward, her blade held tightly in her hand as she ran as fast as she could, lightning coating her body.
