Chapter 9 - Journey Begins

Not very long, both Oenhi and Gibbit returned to the bookshop and there they were greeted by Mimya packing her things with a frown on her face. Gibbit, separated from the little girl to seek out Sarahliza.

Oenhi noticed this, but she was dented by excitement to care as she wandered over to Mimya, "Yo, Mimya look what I got!" The little girl replied, revealing the wooden bat she was given.

Mimya's purple eyes locked onto the bat, but she lost interest, only replying with "It looks great."

Oenhi then went around to swing it left and right, displaying a childish occupation as she delivered. "I can use this to hit the bad guys yah know! It'll be so great."

"Oh will it." Mimya stated, clearly bothered by her statement.

This soon followed with Sarahliza and Gibbit to return where they were. The woman's yellow eyes glancing at Mimya who's gaze darted through the window, clearly upset by their previous conversation. But she had a sign of acceptance for she understood the gravity of the situation.

Sarahliza soon turned her interest to Oenhi who was swinging around the bat. "Where did you get that?"

Oenhi then brought it closer to her, "Gibbit did, because I like baseball!" She expressed glee with a wide grin on her face. One that resulted in Sarahliza to look at Gibbit, who scratched his head.

"Let the girl have her fun." The man replied with. To which Sarahliza shook her head, she couldn't deny the girl's wants no longer.

Oenhi then lowered the bat, and remembering both girl's conversations earlier before they stepped out, this made her wonder if Sarahliza was coming or not. "So Sarah, are you coming with us?"

And with a concerning expression, the woman replied with. "No, somebody has to stay here and prevent Gibbit from becoming an impure wraith. Don't worry Oenhi, Mimya will be here to assist you." Mimya looked at her in response to this, and Sarahliza did the same, and spoke again. "And I hope she'll be a great mentor along the way."

Mimya scoffs at the idea of being a mentor figure, she expected Sarahliza to be that role if they were coming with her. But she didn't have a choice while she was lost in her thoughts.

"So isn't it a little strange to be calling a kid an Arcage?" Gibbit interrupted.

"Arcages?" Oenhi asked, she had heard the word before from the others. But never she bother to care, seeing that it sounded similar to arcane. She wondered if it had something to do with it.

"Arcages are people who use arcane and study it, Oenhi." Mimya replied.

"So? That makes me an arcage?" Oenhi asked, with a little bit of enthusiasm.

"A trainee to be one much more accurate, but you'll get to that position soon when you're old enough. And seeing that Mimya was eligible enough to tell you what it was, it makes all the more sense you'll be a great teacher of yours." A smile grew on Sarahliza's face as she replied to Oenhi's question. For her eyes were locked on Mimya who couldn't handle what she was hearing.

The woman then picked up a bag around half of Oenhi's size and placed it onto a nearby chair. Sarahliza looked bothered, sighing by something, before turning back to Oenhi.

Oenhi saw her disturbing expression. "Are you okay?" Oenhi requested.

"Your grandfather is a good friend of mine, it's sad to see him gone. Taken by those wraiths. And I know he wouldn't want you to get involved in all of this. But because of the circumstances, you are forced to. You're still a child and I promised him in case something happened to him, I'd protect you..." Sarahliza expressed.

"Well, grandpa knows I ain't staying here. Don't be so down about it Sarahliza. I'll get him back and stop those other wraith thingies." Oenhi assured to soothe her worries.

This fast response made Sarahliza giggle, she was never expecting this out of the young soul. "You're just like him, stubborn yet determined for what they want."

"Then, I can't stop you. You and Mimya will be travelling across Shivanya, from the Toki woodlands all the way to get to Montogree." Sarahliza stated.

Shivanya? Montogree? What are those?" Oenhi asked, scratching her head.

Sarahliza blinked. "What? You don't know the continent we live on?"

"Continent?" Oenhi murmured, as if the word were foreign to her. Then, suddenly, her expression lit up. "Oooooh, I get it now."

Sarahliza and Gibbit exchanged a glance. Something about her reaction felt...off.

"And what's Montogree?" Oenhi asked again.

Gibbit raised an eyebrow. "Kid, do you have amnesia?"

Sarahliza frowned. Oenhi was twelve, she should at least know the major regions of Shivanya.

Oenhi tilted her head. "What's amnesia?"

Gibbit sighed. "I can't tell if you're too young to know what that is or if you actually hit your head too hard."

Sarahliza folded her arms. Something wasn't right. Maybe a test would help. "Oenhi, what's the name of our world?"

Oenhi's confidence wavered. "Um. Uh. Oh carrots, I can't remember!?" Her voice pitched higher, and a flicker of panic crossed her face.

Gibbit let out a low whistle. "Yep. She's got amnesia. A bad one."

Sarahliza exhaled. "Jevha. The name of our big blue world."

The moment the word left her lips, Oenhi's eyes widened. Something inside her seemed to shift, as though a puzzle piece had snapped into place. She relaxed, relief washing over her face. "Huh Jevha, I remember!"

"But who would've thought it would've been this bad." Mimya replied, as if another weight was tossed onto her back.

"Which means someone is going to re-educate her." Sarahliza said to Mimya.

Mimya turned her eyes away and sighed, coming to the conclusion that she'll not only become a teacher to Oenhi in not just the powers of the supernatural. But towards the world in general, seeing Oenhi is inflicted with a brain injury condition.

"And furthermore, Montogree is one of the countries of Shivanya. Here, we're currently in Toki Woodlands. Montogree is four countries away from here." Sarahliza stated, while taking out a map.

Placing it on a nearby table, revealing the geography of Shivanya.

"Um, that looks very far." Oenhi pointed out.

"It is, and it'll take some time for you and Mimya to get there. While you can see many settlements, villages and even cities." Sarahliza added.

Oenhi stood there, remembering a time when Solomon promised her that they'll explore the country for themselves. But now she gets to do so, without him, and this elevated her to say.

"Ight, I want in!" Oenhi shouted.

"Someone's an explorer." Gibbit mentioned.

"Hey! I'm not an explorer.....what's an explorer?" Oenhi asked.

"Oh." Gibbit responded.

"Guess I'm gonna have to be a heck of a teacher..." Mimya added.

Sarahliza giggled at the two of them.

Not long afterwards, the two girls got their stuff ready and were at the entrance of the Toki-Toki Village. Behind them were Sarahliza and Gibbit.

Oenhi was anxious about the open world as what she could see was an open plain of potential. Mimya was prepared, but still bothered by the fact that Sarahliza wasn't here to help her be safe. She'll have to learn how to fend for herself and Oenhi.

Although, Sarahliza noticed their expressions.

"Are you two okay?" Sarahliza asked.

"I'm fine alright." Mimya brushed her off.

"Just a little scared, that's all. I've never been anywhere else in my life. Are people out there different from us?" Oenhi replied with a question.

"Yes, there exists a diverse people in the world Oenhi. And you'll get to meet them on your way to save Solomon." Sarahliza responded.

"Hol up!" Gibbit said, holding onto an orange and black sweater.

"Back there when I was at your gramps house I saw this in the ruins, seen pretty small. I figured you'd want it." Gibbit offered it to Oenhi.

Oenhi's eyes met the sweater, who's eyes almost watered. For she remembered this sweater was given to her by Solomon on her twelve birthday, for when she became a big girl. She immediately snatched it and wore it over her shirt. "I do... It's special."

Oenhi said, pressing her hand into the front of the sweater.

"Thanks Gib." Oenhi thanked.

"Now then, the two of you. There's a lot of things out there to keep watch over. Being supernatural monsters, other people with powers over arcane, and many of them will not hesitate to kill the both of you. If you continue on this path, you cannot turn back. Does anyone want to rethink their decisions." Sarahliza questioned, hoping she'd get some neglect out of Oenhi.

"Nuh uh." Oenhi responded.

"What she said." Mimya declared.

Sarahliza smiled at their determination to bring back the man who blessed them with benevolence in the past, and to stop the hazard that is Mazaeta and his wraiths.

Oenhi and Mimya then turned away from the two and the village, looking into the vast plains of the valley ahead. Taking their first flight into a realm of endless possibilities.

"Don't worry grandpa. I'll get you back." Oenhi declared.
