She had already heard almost everything about what happened in the other world—from the terrifying Monarchs to the epic battles her son had fought.
But what excited her the most—
Was his Shadow Army.
Once she calmed down from the initial shock and excitement, her curiosity reignited, now directed toward the looming figure standing beside Eric. Without hesitation, she approached Berru, her hands reaching out hesitantly. She poked at Berru's body, expecting her fingers to pass through the dark, shadowy form. But instead—
Clack.
Her fingers met a hard, almost chitinous surface, Almost like the shell of a giant insect. Her eyes widened in amazement before she began touching it repeatedly, marveling at the sensation.
Poke. Poke. Poke.
She touched it again.
And again.
And again.
Eric couldn't help but stifle a laugh at Berru's utterly helpless expression. Despite being one of the most powerful entities in his army, here he was, being poked and prodded like a curious child inspecting a new toy.
"My name is Rebecca. Rebecca Williams," she finally said, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "Please take care of me in the future."
Berru bowed deeply, placing one hand over his chest in a gentlemanly manner.
"It is my honor, Your Highness," he whispered in his eerie, clicking voice.
He had already informed his shadows about his origins and his mother, so they were well aware of her existence. And for Beru, the respect he held for his king naturally extended to the woman who gave birth to him.
An existence to be protected at all costs.
For Beru, there was no greater duty than serving his King.
And since his King deeply loved and cherished his mother—
Then she too would be treated with the highest respect.
From this moment on—
There would be no force in this world that could touch her.
Even if there were beings stronger than him…
Even if there were foes beyond his power…
He would surpass them all.
He swore it.
But for now—
For now, he would settle for watching opera and dramas with his king's mother to broaden his cultural knowledge.
Watching his mother and Beru chatting like long-lost friends who had finally reunited after years apart, Eric felt a vein throb in his forehead. He decided to just ignore them. His business was far more important right now.
Just as he turned to leave—
"Where the hell do you think you're going!?" Rebecca's voice practically shook the house.
Before he could react, she practically latched onto him like a koala. "Take me to a dragon! I wanna ride one! Right now!"
Eric sighed. "Fine! Tomorrow, I'll take you to see a dragon! Now go away!"
Before she could protest, With a flick of his wrist, he teleported her back onto the couch before she could argue.
Then, before she could jump back onto him, he vanished upstairs.
Rebecca huffed but quickly broke into a mischievous grin. Turning toward Beru, she said, "Come on, Beru! We have to tell everyone that this bastard finally came back."
Eric, now on the upper floor, exhaled in relief. That woman is way too energetic.
The second floor consisted of three rooms, all belonging to him—one for gaming, one for studying, and one for sleeping.
Currently, they were all his, since his father had long passed away, and his mother preferred using the larger space downstairs.
However, his destination was clear. At the very end of the hallway was his study room, and it was where his unknown guest was currently waiting.
As Eric walked forward, his shadow shifted.
From the dark abyss beneath his feet, a figure emerged.
A knight clad in heavy armor, his entire body radiating a cold, metallic gleam.
—
It was Igris. one of his strongest knights. His blue eyes gleamed under the dim hallway light, and his imposing presence alone exuded an aura of destruction.
Among Eric's three strongest Shadow Soldiers, Igris was the most adept at fighting mages and massive monsters.
Beru, on the other hand, specialized in hunting warriors.
And finally, Bellion, his strongest general—
Was the most powerful when dealing with Monster, mage and warriors in mass battles.
He can clear out everything very quickly,
But Bellion…
Was too big to fit inside his house.
And Eric didn't want to destroy his home right after coming back. If things escalated, he could always summon reinforcements. But for now, Egris alone would be enough.
Egris took the lead, his steps silent yet firm.
With precision, he reached the study door—
And pushed it open.
Then, stepping inside, he made way for his master.
Eric followed immediately after.
—
Inside the room—
The unknown guest awaited him.
