Uchiha Obito stared at the sudden kunai and listened to the voice echoing beside his ear.
He was stunned briefly, and beneath his mask, his face flushed slightly. Damn it, he had been tricked?!
Feeling the rushing wind from the kunai attacking from behind, Obito quickly activated Kamui to phase through while also trying to evade on his own.
With only one eye, his phasing speed was naturally slower than if he had both, and at such a close distance, he had to rely on his reflexes!
Swish. The two figures crossed paths, and before long, they both landed on the ground.
Uchiha Obito lowered his head and glanced at his left arm. Blood was steadily flowing down from his shoulder.
"Good, very good." His gaze darkened slightly.
He couldn't even remember the last time he had been injured.
The last time must have been five or six years ago—on the night he unleashed the Nine-Tails! Just like now, it was Flying Thunder God that had wounded him.
[New Mission Acquired]
[Defeat the Attacker]
"So, you're the one who attacked him?" Shigenari Shuuzawa glanced at his system panel, then raised an eyebrow as he looked at Obito.
He hadn't wanted to face Obito this early. Wouldn't it have been better to wait until he was stronger?
But unexpectedly, that bastard Obito had framed him?!
Still, Shuuzawa figured he might be able to salvage the situation—at the very least, he couldn't let all the blame fall on himself!
"Sharingan? You're from the Uchiha clan?" Suddenly, Shuuzawa seemed to realize something.
He immediately lowered his head, eyes locked onto Obito's feet, before gritting his teeth and growling,
"I knew it! You, Uchiha, are all insane! Is this because I defeated him during the Chūnin Exams?"
"So now you're trying to frame me like this? Lord Danzō was right—you Uchiha are nothing but criminals!"
Obito froze for a moment. What the hell was this guy even talking about?! But he still instinctively responded coldly, "You don't need to know who I am."
"I only know that you were trying to kill him, so—" As he said this, even Obito himself found it hard to keep a straight face.
Why did it feel like the script was going off track? Was he the one attacking Uchiha Itachi?
"So it's true! You Uchiha really are evil!" Shuuzawa immediately seized upon Obito's words, his gaze turning even darker.
"Since you're here to frame me, then I'll just take you down right now!"
With that, Shuuzawa hurled a kunai straight at Obito.
"Crazy bastard," Obito cursed under his breath. Did this guy think he was Namikaze Minato, trying to keep him here?
But Obito didn't even move—the kunai simply phased through his body. With Kamui, he could practically ignore physical attacks.
Meanwhile, his mind was racing to figure out his next move.
This lunatic had realized he was being framed, and now he was trying to erase the evidence by any means necessary.
That was a huge problem for Obito. He couldn't let Shuuzawa kill Uchiha Itachi, yet stepping in personally would disrupt his plans.
If this brat let the Yamanaka clan examine his memories, things would get messy fast!
Obito wasn't too worried about exposure—after all, with Kamui, he could go anywhere in the shinobi world as he pleased.
But Akatsuki was still in its early stages. Right now, avoiding trouble is better than causing more of it.
So, he decided to take action. He needed to alter Shuuzawa's memories—make him forget about Obito while cementing the idea that he had attacked Uchiha Itachi.
"Besides, this brat actually managed to injure me."
Half of Obito's body was made of White Zetsu, but as luck would have it, Shuuzawa had hit the part that was still his real body!
"Consider this revenge for that night years ago. You are not Namikaze Minato!"
In the next instant, Obito lunged straight at Shuuzawa. Seeing this, Shuuzawa immediately responded, rushing forward to meet him.
They were already close to each other, and both were incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, they clashed.
Clang!
A pitch-black metal chain slipped from Obito's sleeve, and he gripped it tightly in his hand.
Shuuzawa didn't bother looking at Obito's face. The moment they closed in, his kunai stabbed forward!
However, as expected, it passed through Obito's body without resistance. At that moment, Obito retaliated.
The chain coiled and lashed toward Shuuzawa, but his figure suddenly vanished just as it was about to reach him.
When he reappeared, he was already standing atop a nearby tree.
"A truly bizarre space-time technique... I think I've figured out exactly how you framed me."
Shuuzawa spoke slowly, his eyes flickering toward Uchiha Itachi, still motionless.
His expression darkened further when he noticed a fresh wound on Itachi's body, blood continuing to seep from it.
"So all you had to do was throw a kunai as a distraction, then use your space-time jutsu to launch a sneak attack from a blind spot, right?"
"You talk too much."
Still, Obito wasn't surprised by the analysis. It was only natural—this brat was showing a decent level of intelligence.
"But now, you have no chance. Your fate is already sealed!"
"What if... I call for backup?" Shuuzawa blinked, then suddenly grinned.
"It might be difficult to explain Uchiha Itachi's current condition, but if I call for help, you'll be forced to leave."
"Otherwise, you'll put the entire Uchiha clan at risk. And if I let the Yamanaka clan inspect my memories, you'll have nowhere to hide!"
Obito opened his mouth, but for a moment, he was at a loss for words. Damn it. Wasn't this exactly what he had feared? Had this brat planned it all along?!
"Then again, maybe not," Shuuzawa suddenly muttered, shaking his head with a sigh.
"If my memories were really examined, it would expose Lord Danzō's involvement as well."
He exhaled helplessly. "Forget it. I'll just deal with you here and now. But you know, I think I've uncovered a little secret."
"Hm?" Obito frowned, but Shuuzawa suddenly hurled dozens of kunai at him before he could react.
The weapons spread out in a dense pattern, completely covering his position!
"Pathetic."
Obito scoffed and ignored the scattered kunai. His eyes locked onto Shuuzawa, who had emerged from the shadows.
"Your efforts are meaningless!"
Buzz.
Shuuzawa's kunai slashed through Obito once more, phasing harmlessly through his body.
But this time, Obito seized the opportunity—he would capture Shuuzawa and erase his memories for good!
"This time, you've walked straight into your own demise!"
The distance was too short. All Obito needed to do was reach out, and he could grab Shuuzawa.
Shuuzawa, however, remained silent. The moment Obito moved, an immense surge of chakra erupted from within him.
[Cursed Seal]—Activate!
[Yin Release]—Activate!
[Yang Release]—Activate!
Suddenly, three powerful forces surged through Shuuzawa, amplifying his abilities to an entirely new level.
Obito's expression changed instantly. He could sense the transformation in Shuuzawa, but it was already too late to pull back his attack.
Too fast!
Everything happened within a fraction of a second. As Obito hesitated just an instant, the figure in front of him vanished!
"Sage Art - Wind Release: Vacuum Blade!"
The next moment, a searing pain tore through Obito's back. The razor-sharp energy felt as if it would pierce straight through his body!
"Ahhh!"
Obito let out a pained roar. Behind him, Shuuzawa stood firm, his kunai glowing brilliantly.
Obito was utterly stunned at this moment. It felt as if everything had come full circle.
Years ago, he had been defeated in the same way by Minato Namikaze, and now, it had happened again.
The feeling was so overwhelming that it left him in complete shock. He couldn't comprehend what was happening! Why?
Why did he, who possessed Kamui, always lose to the Flying Thunder God? Was he doomed to be countered by anyone who mastered that technique?
His gaze was filled with hatred as he clenched his teeth, enduring the excruciating pain while phasing out of the battlefield.
Standing atop a large tree, Obito glared at Shuuzawa with a murderous glare as if he wanted to tear him apart.
"Don't stare at me like that. I told you, I discovered a little secret of yours," Shuuzawa shrugged, having already deactivated all his abilities.
His eyes remained calm as he spoke. "I don't quite understand why you have this ability. Normally, the Sharingan shouldn't possess such a power."
"But perhaps certain bloodline traits are unique. Still, you only have one visible Sharingan."
"For a Sharingan to reach its full potential, you need both eyes. Your ability likely requires both as well. That's why I noticed your space-time technique isn't as fast as I imagined." Shuuzawa's words left Obito silent.
He had to admit—it was true. The Sharingan was always meant to be a pair, and only with both eyes could one fully unleash their power.
But he had given one of his eyes to Kakashi. To him, there was no reason to take it back. If he ever did, it would only be in the world he intended to create.
Yet, he hadn't expected that this single factor would give this guy an opening. "Slower means there's an opportunity," Shuuzawa said calmly, holding a kunai under the moonlight.
"I also noticed that when you're attacked, you phase through, but when you strike, your body becomes solid. So all I have to do is wait for you to attack before countering. Am I wrong?"
Obito's fists clenched tightly. The moment he attacked, he left himself vulnerable.
This situation made him feel like he was facing Minato Namikaze again!
After only a few brief exchanges, his former teacher had figured out his weakness and exploited it.
Now, this guy had done the same—only even faster?
"Is he another Minato Namikaze?" Obito gritted his teeth, silently cursing. He had just convinced himself moments ago that this guy wasn't Minato.
"Oh, by the way, I noticed something else," Shuuzawa suddenly added as Obito's frustration peaked.
He casually took out a signal flare, lit it, and let it ascend into the sky before smirking.
"Your eyes are quite interesting. Kakashi's Sharingan is in his left eye, while yours is in your right."
"You always keep your left eye covered, which suggests you've lost it."
"Considering that... you wouldn't happen to be Uchiha Obito, the one who supposedly died on Kannabi Bridge, would you?"
"You!"
Shuuzawa's words struck Obito like a bucket of cold water, drenching him in shock. His eyes widened as he stared at Shuuzawa in disbelief.
How? How did this guy figure it out? Even Minato hadn't realized it back then!
Minato never once suspected him despite attacking his teacher's son and Kushina.
The closest people to him hadn't recognized him, yet this stranger—after just a few minutes of battle—had?
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Though his entire body trembled, Obito forced himself to speak in an icy tone.
"I don't know any Uchiha Obito. But I do know that you don't seem afraid of death, considering you're calling for reinforcements."
"It's over," Shuuzawa said, nodding slowly. Everything he needed to reveal had been revealed.
There was no reason to continue this fight. He casually twirled the kunai and said, "I think this proves my point."
"A kunai?" Obito's expression darkened as a sudden realization struck him—he still had Minato's "gift" on him!
"The Flying Thunder God mark?"
"The Fourth Hokage served as my witness," Shuuzawa said, keeping his eyes carefully away from Obito's.
"At first, I thought I was mistaken, but it turns out I was right." His smirk deepened.
"If I'm not mistaken, you were behind the Nine-Tails incident, weren't you?"
"Otherwise, you wouldn't have that mark. What a surprise—such a big fish caught tonight."
"Lord Danzo was right. The Uchiha Clan truly is Konoha's greatest threat... Uchiha Obito!"
Obito had no words left. He never imagined things would escalate to this point.
That brat had barely learned the Flying Thunder God, yet his skill was already at this level?
Not only that, but Minato's old mark had worked against him, completely ruining his plans!
Damn brat. Damn, Danzo, for training him!
Obito stared at Shuuzawa for a long moment. As soon as he heard footsteps approaching from all around, he took a deep breath.
A surge of chakra enveloped him, and in the next instant, his body spiralled and vanished from sight.
"He didn't even bother denying it? Just silently admitted it?"
Shuuzawa tilted his head slightly as he watched Obito disappear.
But he figured Obito was too stunned and angry to respond and had no interest in meeting the other Anbu of Konoha. Especially Kakashi.
"Besides, he's probably trying to figure out how to remove the Flying Thunder God mark right about now," Shuuzawa mused, rubbing his chin.
Erasing that mark wasn't easy. In the original timeline, Obito had never removed it, even during the Fourth Great Ninja War.
Minato had used it against him yet again.
Having this mark was Shuuzawa's best evidence. Of course, his own words alone wouldn't be enough, but if someone could verify it?
He casually walked over to Uchiha Itachi and kicked him lightly. "You've been listening for a while. Still going to pretend you're unconscious?"
"...Senpai, you hit too hard."
Itachi opened his eyes weakly. He had woken up earlier—the pain had jolted him awake.
During the battle between Shuuzawa and the mysterious Uchiha, Shuuzawa had sneakily landed a hit on him.
He hadn't been completely unconscious to begin with, so the pain had naturally roused him.
Still, as a trained shinobi, he had remained motionless, listening intently to everything.
"That wasn't too hard," Shuuzawa replied, shaking his head.
He glanced up at the rooftops, where several Anbu had already appeared.
With a slow smirk, he said, "At least it's better than dying in some unknown place, where no one even finds your body, right?"
