Chapter 149 - Chapter 149: The Price of Power

The black SUV sped through the empty streets, headlights cutting through the fog as Ochieng sat in the backseat, Victoria leaning against him. Her breathing was steady, but he could feel the tremors in her body. The wounds on her face, the bruises on her wrists—Walter had made her suffer. And now Walter was dead.

But Ochieng knew killing a man like Walter didn't end the war. It only started a new one.

"Where to, boss?" Bruno asked from the driver's seat.

Ochieng glanced at Jeff, who was busy patching up a graze on his arm. "We need to lay low. The streets will be swarming with cops soon."

Lucy, sitting in the front, spoke without turning. "Not just cops. Walter had powerful allies. They'll come looking for revenge."

Victoria lifted her head. "Let them come."

Ochieng smirked, brushing a strand of her hair back. "That's my girl."

---

Meanwhile, at a hidden mansion deep in the hills…

The news of Walter's death had already spread. A tall, silver-haired man stood by the window, swirling a glass of wine. Rolex, Walter's older brother, was far more dangerous than Walter ever was. He thrived on control, on vengeance. And now, he had a target.

"Ochieng… you have no idea what you've started," he muttered, his icy blue eyes glowing in the dim light.

Behind him, his right-hand man, Rogers, cracked his knuckles. "Want me to handle it?"

Rolex sipped his wine and smiled. "No. Let's make him suffer first."

--

Ochieng sat at the large dining table, his team gathered around. Jeff, Paul, Gideon, Bruno, Lucy, and Victoria—each of them had been through hell with him. And each of them knew more hell was coming.

"Walter's out of the picture," Lucy began. "But Rolex is another beast. He controls politicians, businesses, even the police force."

Ochieng leaned back, lighting a cigarette. "Then we hit him where it hurts."

Victoria frowned. "And where is that?"

Ochieng exhaled slowly, his eyes dark with purpose. "His empire. His money. His pride."

Bruno grinned. "You're talking about Glowtune International, aren't you?"

Lucy nodded. "The heart of Rolex's wealth. A billion-dollar corporation with connections to everything dirty in this city."

Jeff chuckled. "You really plan on robbing the richest man in the country?"

Ochieng's smirk deepened. "No. I plan on burning him to the ground."

Silence filled the room, followed by a slow, approving nod from Victoria.

"Then let's do it."

And just like that, war had begun.
