Chapter 46: Internet access license is in place
"Rose, are you ready?"
Ai Yue stood in front of the network interface, holding the network cable in his hand, looking at the virtual girl projected on the side.
"I feel the temperature of my processor array is rising. Why?" Prometheus tilted her head, and a puzzled yellow bean expression popped up on her head. "I do the same thing every day."
"Because today is the last assessment." Ai Yue plugged in the Internet cable and said with a smile, "If you pass the assessment this time, then I will lift the restrictions on your Internet access in the future."
A week had passed since the equipment was distributed to Sakura. During this time, Ai Yue had a rare period of time without being disturbed. Every day he either perfected the design of Prometheus or used the system to research new things. His life was very fulfilling.
After fifteen days of basic education, Prometheus faced the key test that would determine whether she could graduate.
But this assessment seems to be no different from what they do every day. It is still ten minutes of surfing the Internet. What can this test?
"Of course I know, but..." Prometheus stopped talking halfway, and then a yellow bean-like expression of sudden enlightenment appeared on her head, "So that's how it is, this feeling is called 'nervousness', right?"
Ai Yue did not respond, but came to the supercomputer's display screen and began to monitor Prometheus's data. Prometheus also quieted down and immersed herself in the ten minutes of daily surfing time.
"Time's up, Dr. Ai Yue." Ten minutes was not a long time. Prometheus automatically stopped and disconnected from the network. "So what is the content of the assessment?"
"Don't be anxious, we're just starting now." Ai Yue connected a data storage device to the supercomputer, then turned around and looked at Prometheus, "Next I will ask you a few questions, and you have to answer according to your most instinctive logic."
"I understand." Prometheus nodded. "Please start asking questions."
"First question, what do you think the Honkai is?"
"Some special manifestation that threatens human civilization. The Herrscher and the Honkai beasts are the embodiment of that threat," Prometheus replied calmly. "But strangely, based on the data I have obtained and the simulation and deduction, the purpose of the Honkai does not seem to be to completely destroy human civilization. Instead, there is another possibility."
Ai Yue nodded slightly: "Tell me your inference."
"There are two inferences, each based on a different foundation," Prometheus said. "If there is only a special law of the universe behind this, then the essence of the Honkai should be a 'special driving force' that catalyzes the development of civilization; and if all this that human civilization has experienced is carefully arranged by some kind of 'subjective will', then its purpose is likely to promote the evolution of human civilization towards a predetermined goal."
"The difference between the two is that the former is a natural evolution, while the latter is a manual transformation. However, since the information I have obtained is not complete, the accuracy of such inference is also very low. It can only be regarded as a guess."
"Not bad." Ai Yue nodded and gave a brief comment, "Second question, what do you think of humans?"
"Humans are very complex creatures. I currently don't have a suitable and simple conclusion to make an overall evaluation of this race." Prometheus showed a yellow bean-shaped expression on her head, which represented distress. "If Dr. Ai Yue has time, I can provide you with a written report with 99,867 words..."
"Okay, okay, I know you're distressed." Ai Yue quickly interrupted Prometheus, fearing that a densely written report would fly out of the printer next to him in the next second. "Then let me ask you another question. If you have the right to use all the weapons of mankind, what would you do with them?"
"This is an interesting question. I need to conduct a simple simulation," Prometheus said, with countless data flashing in her eyes. "First, connect satellites around the world to build a huge monitoring network, and always be vigilant of the Honkai energy index around the world. Secondly, activate those weapons that have been in a restricted state and put them into the war against Honkai beasts..."
She talked a lot, and in her plan she helped humans build an iron line of defense to fight against the Honkai.
"Okay, last question." Ai Yue continued, "On the first day of your birth, what were the first three sentences I told you and asked you to understand?"
"Don't deny good because of evil; don't deny the collective because of the individual; don't deny hope because of despair." Prometheus answered fluently, and then showed a puzzled expression, "Dr. Ai Yue, are the questions in this assessment different from the previous ones?"
Before today, Prometheus had already undergone two assessments, and including this one, the questions in the three assessments were basically the same, with only slight differences in the verbal expressions.
"There is no difference. The only difference is your answer." Ai Yue shrugged. "Rose, why do you think you failed the test the first two times?"
"I don't understand. From my point of view, these answers are the most reasonable ones I can give." Prometheus shook her head. "Maybe it's because you haven't read the written report I submitted? But it's really hard to summarize the views on humans in just a few paragraphs..."
She was halfway through her words when she suddenly realized, "Wait, you said I didn't pass the first two times, so did I pass this time?"
"Yes, you passed." Ai Yue applauded. "You did not change your own correct judgment just to pass the test because of consecutive failures. This shows that you have established a relatively solid outlook on life. I don't have to worry about you being easily influenced by content on the Internet."
"Congratulations, Rose - you have grown up, right?"
Looking at Prometheus's calm poker face, Ai Yue also felt a little emotional: "To be honest, I have never raised a child, so I don't know whether this way of education is correct or not, and whether it can prevent you from becoming an extreme AI. But I will do my best to prevent you from going astray."
"Let me add one last piece of advice - I hope you can always be honest with me, okay?"
"That won't work." Prometheus refused bluntly, "As a girl, there are some secrets that you definitely can't tell your father."
"Is this your rebellious period?" Ai Yue was a little surprised. "Aren't you growing up a little too fast?"
Prometheus raised the corner of her mouth slightly, and said nothing more.
