Kael stood outside the twins' locked room, his damp t-shirt clinging to his lean frame, the faint scent of Freya's lavender soap lingering on his skin from the shower.
"Lila! I'm here to take you back to your room. Is Tila gonna be a pain?" Kael yelled, his voice carrying through the heavy wood.
"Yes!" Tila's shout came, sharp and defiant like the last time, her voice a blade from within.
Lila's voice, closer to the door, cut in, calm but firm. "No, she won't. I'm ready."
Kael unlocked the door, pushing it open, Rhea and Freya flanking him as backup, their presence a quiet warning.
Rhea, in a tight tank top and black shorts, her crimson hair loose, her amber eyes alert, stood ready, her frame poised.
