Seraphine's pov
"Let's take a walk, i'll give you a tour of the castle" kael said to me. "Okay, lead the way" i answered with a shy smile.
We walked quietly for a while, "you seem happy,... Why is that?" kael asked breaking the awkward silence
"I have never been outside of a castle buildind buring the day….. my father was always strict" i said. "Come with me, there's some place i will like you to see" he said pulling me along with him. He seemed to be a lot better than before. He's mood was much lively, was this the same man whom all those rumours belong to? I wondered within myself.
"Kael?," I called his name gently, having made up my mind to ask him about the rumours. "Yes, my lady" he responded softly. "The…. I hesitated a little unsure of how he would react to my question. "I know you want to ask if the rumours about me are true" he cut in helping me complete what i wanted to ask. I nodded my head in agreement. "I don't know either," he said. What did he mean he doesn't know either, "sometimes i do things that shouldn't be humanly possible…" he concluded. I was still confused but did not push the matter further.
We continued walking in silence. After a few steps, he brought me to a beautiful garden filled with all kinds of rare flowers, the sun rays making the view even more breathtaking, i was utterly amazed "welcome to my personal garden" kael's voice brought me out of my daze, "you like it?".he asked,. "like?.... I love it" i said still looking around the beautiful garden. "You can move around and get a full view of the garden, its yours" he told me, wait a minute.. what? "Did you just say it's mine?" I asked not believing what i just heard "yes, its my second wedding gift to you" he said again "i beg to take my leave now, there a few things i have to take care of, i have asked the maids to prepare a proper meal for you" he added and left almost immediately.
I was left alone, i walked round the beautiful garden and found a beutiful pink coloured swing in the middle, i sat on it to enjoy the view
"My lady," a maid came to me interrupting my beautiful moment. "Your meal is served" she said and led the way to the table. I ate my meal in silence.
Kael's pov
"Your majesty, you need to see this" Fredrick my right hand man said handing a paper to me.
"The king will be announcing the heir to the throne soon… what about it" i said tossing the papers aside "we all know kanan is the heir, he is the crown prince after all" i added in a carefree manner.
"What if that's not the case?" Fredrick spoke once again.
"What exactly are you trying to say fredrick? Please say it, i have a lot of things to do" Fredrick had been my bestfriend since childhood.
"What i am trying to say is what if the king doesn't want kanan as his heir…" he said "think about it ; if he wanted to give the throne to kanan, there wouldn't be any need to announce it. Everyone already knows that he is the crown prince." Fredrick was making sense but i didn't want to think much about it "The king has three more sons he can give the throne to, we both know how he feels about me. He will never consider me so lets forget about this and focus on the issues at hand.
"Have there been anymore attacks from the salem kingdom, since the last time? I asked. "No, my lord. And i doubled the patrol guards on the north and south borders just as you commanded" Fredrick said in a formal tone.
"Okay we will be visiting the borders today, get the horses ready" i commanded. "But sire, what about your wife. It will take a day and half to visit all the borders, wouldn't she be worried? He asked out of concern. I thought about it for a moment "Get the horses ready Fredrick, let me be the one to worry about my wife" i finally said. I'm sure she will be happy that i won't be around for a while. She was scared the previous night, maybe she's scared that i might rape her? I thought to myself and laughed, if she really thinks that way then she must be very naive. I stopped thinking about her and went out to meet Fredrick who had readied the horses. "Lets go" i said and we left immediately.
As we arrived at the north border, the general in charge came and greeted us. "Status report" i said directly escaping the greetings and pleasantries. "Oh .. uh, status report. Everything has been normal for a while now we have not had any attack " the general stammered for a while. "Quiet " i felt unfamiliar auras around us. Before i could order my men out of there, our attackers who appeared to have been lying in ambush poured down on us. Taking most of my men off guard.
This is a disaster i thought to myself, my men were on the losing end. I got angry, took out my sword and struck the ground with all my strength. A gust of wind out came from the west taking anything and everything in its path. By the time the dust cleared, all the intruders were nowhere to be seen. I looked around, most of my men injured "Fredrick," i called almost all the men present there have already seen me doing things like this, so it was nothing new to them.
"Yes my lord" he answered abruptly standing to his feet. "Gather all the injured men and return to the kingdom, and send a few other soldiers down here i will stay until the others come". I said giving him a sharp look to make surehe doesn't protest.
"Yes, sire" he bowed and proceeded to gather the injured soldiers.
"I will have to meet the king of araph kingdom, it is either he calls off his little minions from causing trouble in my land or we go on an all out war" i concluded within myself.
