Chapter 10 - Chapitre 9

Parc de la Tête d'or, Lyon, South-West of France - April 2, 2030

Lorane and Lyris had arranged to meet in this green haven. As they wandered beneath the trees, they got to know each other: their passions, their dreams, far from the technological and virtual chaos that consumed the rest of the world. It might still have been just a flirtation, but something deeper seemed to be growing in their innocent teenage hearts. A love in the making.

"Do you know what you want to do later? DON'T STUTTER THIS TIME! We want real men here!" Lorane said, laughing. Of course, Lyris chuckled, well aware of how unfamiliar that standard was to him.

"Me?"

"Who else, Lyris? Come on, tell me!" Lorane said, pushing Lyris forward.

"I'd like... to become a police officer, Lorane, it would be a dream for me... It may sound cliché, but... I'm tired of injustice..."

Lyris, who was always described as an angel with an innocent gleam, took on a darker tone. His gaze showed determination and a thirst for revenge.

"Are you okay?" asked Lorane, worried about Lyris.

"Ha... Yeah, I'm fine, and you?"

Lorane wore a proud expression when she heard Lyris' question.

"I want to become... a doctor, like my father... You know, I love him more than anything. I couldn't live without him, Lyris. When my mom cheated on him, he was the only one who raised me and helped me grow..."

Lyris listened attentively to Lorane's words. A wave of compassion overwhelmed him, but he couldn't help but gaze at Lorane, almost moved by the scene, blinded by her caring aura and her innocent beauty. Lyris, although trying to hide his vulnerability as best as he could for fear of scaring her away, felt something stir within.

Flower petals fell around them in the bright sunlight, and streams gushed in front of the amusing sight of their happiness. For the first time in his life, Lyris thought he might be feeling happiness, not with a family member but with someone else.
