Chapter - 1: Come from Dad

------

[Ding]

[The Meta Essence Gacha system has been activated!]

"What the hell..." I could honestly say that I'm in a strange and, above all, confusing situation as I watched the floating screen that appeared in front of me.

As if it wasn't enough to suddenly be thrown into what many considered a world of death and a kind of hellhole, but being fused with someone else was a whole new experience.

You know, it's a bit surreal to wake up in someone else's body, with all their memories. Normally, I should have panicked over the fact that I might no longer be in my room.

After all, people are usually supposed to lose their minds in situations like these, right?

But fortunately, I manage to keep my cool and think. My name is Adam Dallon, just Adam to my friends and family. The only member of the New Wave without powers, a guy who wasn't intentionally bad but, with the help of a new perspective, admittedly a bit of a jerk.

Not that it was that strange considering who my twin sister was…

I look around for something familiar, but all I could think about was that my taste in decor wasn't half bad, actually, it was a bit too luxurious for my liking.

But I'd probably just change the Eidolon poster with one of Alexandria in a bikini or something like that, considering myself a bit of a provocative consumer.

Anyway, jokes aside, it's better to focus on my situation. My mind, or soul, has been transferred into the Worm universe, which honestly doesn't give me much reassurance given the colossal and almost invincible creatures that regularly attack cities, causing millions of deaths and irreversible damage.

Or even the Parahumans or entities so dangerous that they require a global military response. Examples include the Simurgh, Nilbog, the Slaughterhouse Nine, and many individuals with powers who are traumatized, vengeful, or simply psychologically unstable.

[Meta Essence Gacha is a system that allows you to obtain random cards from various fictional worlds. These cards can be people, powers, items, or consumable materials.]

[You earn 1 Gacha Point per day.

• You need 3 Gacha Points per roll.

• You can purchase up to 100 Gacha Points per month (at 01 USD or equivalent per Gacha Point).

• You can buy in bundles of 10 rolls, spending 30 GP (guarantees at least one good card in addition to the usual ones).

• Or pay 60 GP for 10 rolls to get cards specifically tied to the world you're currently in.]

"But in the end, it was time to have some power." It's not that someone else has taken control of Adam's body. No, I am him. One hundred percent.

With all his disappointments, frustrations, and that unresolved feeling he never managed to overcome. To explain it better, I have to take a few steps back.

First of all, anyone who knows Worm is familiar with the theory of capes and triggers, especially second-generation ones. Every time a Cape has a child, there's a much higher chance that the child will develop a power, often similar to the parents' powers.

Triggers are known as the worst day of a person's life: moments of pure nightmare that trigger a power, often making things worse instead of better.

However, a second-generation cape can awaken even from something stupid — and voilà, the lucky kid becomes the next Alexandria Jr.

Me? Unfortunately, I never triggered a power. And this, despite both of my parents being capes. I — or rather, the old me — went through intense, even traumatic events trying to gain powers.

But nothing...

No activation.

This always struck me, especially when, at school, I was compared to my sister, and I had to prove I was mature, even though inside I just wanted to be a hero, like the rest of my family.

Crystal gave up the hero life to focus on university... or rather, on her social life, given how often she throws parties trying to find a way to escape from her hero life.

And Amy? She was constantly stressed out by Carol, who never let her have a moment of fun, and the fact that it was me who took her to the hospital and stayed by her side never let me forget how attached she was to me.

It's not that I stopped wanting to be a cape, but I started to see my "failure" to trigger as, in a sense, a blessing in disguise.

"I threw myself into school, getting damn good grades. I was also athletic, so I aimed for a scholarship, trying every way I could to prove my worth.

My life was honestly not bad. I enjoyed school, had a loving family (even though they could be a bit much at times), and for months, everything went smoothly.

At least until I took possession of this body. With all the memories and, of course, the Gacha power that can win anything in the Omniverse, across all fictional worlds.

It's my power now.

Closing my eyes, I try to reach for the Essence, apparently able to choose how it will manifest, while different rectangular screens appear as if I'm in a role-playing game.

Race: Human

Character Assimilation

Fully Assimilated:

In Progress:

Then I can absorb or assimilate characters, gaining their powers or summoning them to be mine whenever I want. Not that I had any thoughts of using my summons as sex slaves or anything like that, considering that, in the end, I wanted to be a hero.

But I was still a teenager in the midst of puberty. But that should have been fine as long as I thought with my head, not my easy dick, right?

Apparently, the maximum limit for simultaneous assimilation was two characters, but I didn't see that as a problem. In the end, even getting just one power was already a stroke of luck, so I wasn't going to complain about something as trivial as that.

Gacha had said that the characters were loyal, but even that had yet to be proven. It could easily be like those dating games, where affection for you can grow or drop drastically until someone decides that it would be a good idea to kill you.

I had to take some money from my wallet to watch it disappear from existence, then I decided to spend 60 GP without any specific category since, honestly, I wouldn't even know what to choose and didn't consider myself that lucky.

Especially after staring into the abyss with my own eyes and getting nothing but black keys in return...

But in theory, I should get positive rewards, right? After all, this is a world built around powers, so explaining my abilities shouldn't be hard since I could just say I'm a Trump who keeps acquiring new powers.

All I needed was to get Anos Voldigoad and have an easy life. But at first, I didn't think that was possible. So I'll settle for Reinhard Heydrich or Altair (Recreators).

I'm not greedy...

Aah. With Gacha, I can become God in an instant. Be lucky once, and Bam, Multiversal Entity. I couldn't help but let a smile slip out as I finally had the opportunity to rid myself of this inferiority complex once and for all.

Now, let's spin the Gacha, no filters whatsoever. I hope Lady Luck has had a good time and is kind to this poor soul.

[SCP-999

Origin: SCP

Description: A lively, playful orange gelatinous mass. It shows affection towards anyone and conveys an intense feeling of happiness and calm]

My favorite SCP, and this solves my lifelong "problem" with depression. Although I already had Vicky for that, you never turn down a hug when someone offers it.

I could also do a bit of business, using SCP-999 to make some money, given how there's an abundance of unhappy people in this world.

With a creature capable of bringing so much happiness, it would be a shame not to take advantage of it, right? I'd basically make some money as a good capitalist, and in the meantime, help others.

[Alex Mercer's Jacket

Origin: Prototype

Description: Iconic and unmistakable, Alex Mercer's jacket is a black leather garment with an urban, menacing style, perfectly in line with the cool tone of the character]

Meh, honestly, I'd prefer his powers a hundred times over. But at least, on the bright side, it was cool to wear. In the end, even if it wasn't what I hoped for, I couldn't deny that it was better to have it than not.

I'd need to see how it looked once worn and ask Vicky and Amy for their opinions. The first had bought almost all of my wardrobe, so she was a reliable source of advice, while the second had no problem giving her honest, brutal opinions.

Her sarcastic comments were a fundamental part of my life; I could never do without her laughter and her unique way of giving me her unfiltered thoughts.

[Martial Arts Book: Renewal Taekwondo

Origin: The God of High School

Description: A modern martial art developed in South Korea. Used by Jin Mo-Ri, it relies on powerful direct kicks, combining technique and strength in an explosive way. Beyond the physical aspect, this discipline aims to grow the mind and spirit, pushing the individual beyond human limits, to a power comparable to that of the gods]

Now we're thinking. Although it wasn't something I could master right away since I'd have to train, I didn't mind at all.

After all, I was in the wrestling club at school, so a little extra training wouldn't hurt me. In fact, it gave me a good reason to push myself further and improve even more.

I'd been powerless for most of my life, but growing up in a family of heroes, I knew well that throwing a punch—or in this case, a kick—was far more important for winning a battle.

The fact that I could reach the gods? That was practically a must for me, considering how hard I doubted it would be something achievable from one day to the next.

[Peni Parker

Origin: Marvel Rivals

Description: A young heroine who pilots the SP//dr mecha suit, a psychically controlled armor designed by her late father. With her psychic bond to a radioactive spider, she fights to protect the Web of Life and Destiny, a concept that connects all realities of her multiverse]

Well, she's more useful summoned, right? Cough Naturally, it has nothing to do with the fact that she was my favorite main character in the game... Or that she was an Asian girl in a suit that accentuated her spanking butt.

But anyway, damn right—let's go! I've got my personal Tinker! I'll conquer this world with a horde of mechas and become the new... well, Tony Stark? Or maybe just the king of a spider-themed robot army.

Either way, the future smiles at me. Metal, but it smiles.

[Lexus LC 500 - Black Panther

Origin: MCU - (Earth-199999)

Description: A car driven by T'Challa in Black Panther (2018), during the night chase in Busan. Equipped with advanced Wakandan technology, it represents the perfect union between the futuristic aesthetics of Wakanda and the modern design of the real world]

Well, I was saving up for a nice car, but at this point, I'd say I don't need to anymore. If I had this, Vicky would probably never ride in the car with Dean again…

Okay, saying it like that sounds pretty bad—but it's the truth. She gets excited every time she sees something new, shiny, or technologically out of this world, and she has to try it.

She wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to hop in, probably already imagining herself driving it at full speed while laughing like a maniac.

It would've been fun.

[Ebony & Ivory

Origin: Devil May Cry

Description: Twin customized pistols of Dante, designed to harness his superhuman speed and demonic power. Ebony, black and held with the left hand, is optimized for long-range shooting and precision. Ivory, white and held with the right hand, is built for rapid fire and quick draw]

Eh, it's great.

Unfortunately, no infinite ammo for me—at least not for now. Without demonic energy available, I'll have to make do with what I've got.

And the biggest problem? I don't even know how to use a gun decently. Honestly, I've always preferred to solve things the old-fashioned way, like a real brute.

Bare hands, now that's true strength. Forget high-tech weapons: if you can win using just your fists, then you're truly a real man.

[Inventory

Origin: The Gamer (Webtoon)

Description: A special feature of the "The Gamer" ability that allows access to a dimensional space where objects can be stored. One of the most useful features is the auto-equip function, which allows instant equipment switching during combat.]

Gentle... This is so good.

Okay, this ability was way too powerful and abusable. I had to think carefully about how to use it best—not just to hoard items, but to use it strategically, like storing mechas and surprising my opponent.

Or, I could just steal anything a Tinker threw at me, using the dimensional space to mess with them and avoid future hassles.

[Power Boost Card

Origin: Meta Essence Gacha

Description: A special consumable card that, when used, significantly boosts an ability, power, or item possessed by user]

[Macht

Origin: Frieren

Description: One of the most powerful demons among the Seven Sages of Destruction, with his famous spell "Diagoldze," which allows him to transmute anything into pure gold, making him a formidable and nearly invincible opponent]

I didn't mind having someone like that to assimilate, considering how magic was one of the most complicated things to deal with, full of unpredictable variables and sneaky tricks.

Having a card like this in my deck was a great advantage, especially if I found myself in a desperate situation where normal rules weren't enough.

Plus, I could always keep him aside and decide to summon him. From what I remembered, even though he was a psychopath—like most demons, really—he was damn good at what he did.

And honestly, in a world full of threats that could destroy the world, sometimes it's better to have a monster on your side than a hero.

[Loid Forger

Origin: Spy X Family

Description: A Westalis secret agent, considered the best spy in the WISE organization, known by the codename "Twilight." He is a master of disguise and deception, able to adapt to any situation to complete his missions]

So I brought James Bond home:

Considering he's practically a parody of classic secret agents, he can probably do everything Bond could, but with more style, efficiency, and maybe some sharp wit thrown in.

I'd also solved the problem with Dante's guns, so I'd say I was starting to build a nice foundation. I wanted to make the most of whatever the Gacha threw at me, and this was another piece fitting perfectly into the puzzle.

Sure, nothing revolutionary so far—I hadn't become a cosmic entity or an Eldritch horror beyond all logic—but I was already beyond the level of regular guys on the street.

I'd won Loid, which already placed me at the level of the best trained soldiers at their human peak. Okay, he wasn't Darkseid... but he wasn't someone to underestimate either.

And honestly, he was damn good. Rational, competent, and ready to act with surgical precision. Just having him on my roster made me feel safer.

I already felt a little lighter.

Things are starting to take shape.

Spin the next Gacha.

[Soo'unga

Origin: Inuyasha

Description: The Sword of the World Dominator, it contains the spirit of an ancient evil dragon from the underworld, capable of cutting down hundreds of enemies with a single slash]

Oh, look at what my eyes behold, one of my favorite weapons from a film, underrated and left to gather dust without ever finding a worthy master. A real shame, considering the raw potential that weapon had.

I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't use it immediately — I wasn't stupid enough to let a demonic entity control me just for show.

Not yet, at least.

Especially because it was damn powerful. The kind of power that makes you view battles not as risks, but as spectacles. One moment of distraction, and you could literally destroy the world.

But when the right moment comes... Oh, yes, I'll make hell itself sing.

[Package: Giorno Giovanna

Origin: JoJo's - Part 5: Golden Wind

Description: This package grants the holder the entire essence of the character Giorno Giovanna, including his memories, clothes, and abilities]

I must have had some enhanced luck or something because, from what I remember, my luck wasn't that great? Oh, the Gacha understood my love for JoJo.

Spin me right, baby~ Right~ Like a golden ratio~ Right~~

[Shonen Setting Travel Ticket (low level/one month)

Origin: Meta Essence Gacha

Description: A special, consumable ticket that allows the holder to travel to a Shonen-style world. The journey lasts for one month, and the character starts at a low level, offering the opportunity to grow and develop, gaining experience, skills, and power during the stay]

[Adam

Origin: Shūmatsu no Valkyrie

Description: First human created in the image and likeness of the gods, known as the "Father of Humanity." He is capable of perfectly emulating any move he sees, regardless of its speed and power]

YES! LET'S GOO DAMNIT GOOOOOO!

This guy... My father.

"He just won," I said.

With this, I'll be able to stomp a bunch of people with their own abilities, I almost feel sorry for them... Not at all, in fact, I couldn't wait to play with Lung.

[Vongola Hyper Hintuition

Origin: Tutor Hitman Reborn

Description: An innate ability passed down through the Vongola family's bloodline. Described by Reborn as "a power that can see through everything," this ability grants its users exceptional perception and honed instincts]

Oh, I remember this old anime.

It was really interesting, but mostly... incredibly useful in a world like this, full of conspiracies and organizations stabbing each other in the back.

There was never any real certainty about who was a friend or an enemy, and having a power like that meant you could read between the lines and catch every little movement beneath the surface.

If I had something like that, I could see the plots being woven around every corner. Maybe I could anticipate a betrayal before it happened, since it was like a sixth sense.

[Custom Background Card (x05)

Origin: Meta Essence Gacha

Description: A special card that allows you to apply a custom background to a summoning, adapting it to the world in which it finds itself]

[Chromastone

Origin: Ben 10

Description: An alien whose body is entirely made of transparent crystals, granting him incredible strength and high resistance to physical damage. His crystalline skin not only makes him extremely durable but also allows him to absorb and manipulate energy, which he can release in devastating energy attacks]

Sweet, now practically all blasters are useless against me, which is good news and one less worry for me when I fully assimilate this alien.

[Stocking

Origin: Panty & Stocking

Description: She is the younger sister of the Anarchy sisters. Her name comes from the object she uses as a weapon, a powerful magic sword to fight demons, with a sarcastic and often cynical attitude]

Well, this is really good...

Okay... Now we're starting to talk.

If this isn't one of my childhood crushes...

[Power Boost Card

Origin: Meta Essence Gacha

Description: A special consumable card that, after use, significantly boosts an ability, power, or item possessed by the user]

[Bind Dominator

Origin: Big Order

Description: This Order defines a "territory," or rather a "domain," a permanent control platform surrounding the user, where everything within its boundaries is subject to the commands of the Order. This area extends an unknown distance both upwards and downwards]

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!

Fuck OP
