Amos nodded at Marek. The demon stood up.
"Did you find any living humans?" Amos asked. He didn't think Marek had even searched. The man had used orc and human meat to wake Albert up.
Just like how Amos had thought about waking Valentius up.
But they needed to start gaining the love of the ordinary people—the king's appreciation. Wrath would find them. He would send his dogs after them.
They were too small a party to win.
No, it would take the collective effort of everyone who lived in this country.
Amos just hoped it was enough.
"Well, I didn't touch the mayor's house," Marek pointed at the blue building in the center of the village. "But there are heartbeats in there."
Amos sighed.
"You came in here following Valentius' orders. And yet, you didn't even save his people?" Even as he said that, Amos stood. Scanning his surroundings for the heartbeats.
He sighed once more.
"There are no humans there."
