Chapter 2 - River of "dreams"

The face that starred back at him was monstrous, eyes full of souls that were taken with no remorse of there lives there futures or dreams.

His hands still covered in that black substance Xiao Huoyan plugged his hands into the river in an attempt to smother his own reflection. pulling his hands back out the same sigils we're on his wrists, looking more closely at his body his thighs and ankles had these marks as well.

Xiao Huoyan didn't pay much mind to this though turning his attention back to the river.

Xiao Huoyan flinched his reflection was now contorted one eye was drowned with that black substance leaking and the lower part of flesh on his jaw was missing leaving the bone to stick out, the other eye was dilated on the verge to replicate the one on the right.

Xiao Huoyan couldn't help but check his own features to make sure they didn't look like that thing. His reflection gave his a grin stretching to the ears before an ear pricing scream and rotting arm pulled him in, the look of the river was deceiving, under the surface it was murky Xiao Huoyan struggled for breath than another shriek from the creature almost made Xiao Huoyan eardrums burst. His attempts to try and kick the creature were futile as water seemed to be its domain, it moved fast to fast to hit, it swam to Xiao Huoyan right leg baring its teeth to take chunk.

Xiao Huoyan held the flute tightly prepared to feel a surge of pain run through his body but it wasn't his own blood that was shed, the creature then scurried away. Not trying to miss this chance Xiao Huoyan as fast as he could swam to the surface, pulling his head up gasping for air but the garden looked different more white?

A rushing pain then consumed Xiao Huoyan his body felt heavy he didn't escape unscathed. The pain was to much to bare Xiao Huoyan eyes faltered, a lady made of stars approached him her voice encoded full of concern it reminded him of some one special, then he went unconscious

A woman stood before him her eyes were a soft amber her hair a deep brown her clothes were elegant.

"Xiao Huoyan" her voice called in a sweet tone.

"It was your fault" she said with a smile on her face.

"What" Xiao Huoyan didn't know what to say the words he wish he could say where stuck in his throat.

"Everybody close to you has burned because of you it was all your fault" That smile was still on her face as it began to burn bits of the underlaying tissue began to bleed staining that elegant dress.

"But I-I didn't" his voice started to crack guilt he never new he had clouded his mind, he dropped to his knees holding his hands to his head, gripping his hair she stood over him now her blood falling on to his hands. The floor beneath them started to become blood stained other hands started to grab at him there faces soon emerged there mouths spiting insults and cries of mercy.

Their voices were loud there screams and cries begged to live but they had already died. The best they could do is drag Xiao Huoyan with them.

The woman had turned into bones with bits of flesh still hanging off as she to started to drag him down into the pool of blood.

They tore at his neck and thighs ripping through his flesh, the remains of the woman hooked Xiao Huoyan's jaw in her hands he could feel the cracking of bone through is skull.

Xiao Huoyan muffled screams couldn't be heard by anyone he felt his body go limp as she tore his head from his shoulders.

"Hello Hello Xiao Huoyan can you hear me?" a voice called Xiao Huoyan was then pulled back to reality with a pricing punch to the lower abdomen.
