A deafening silence encapsulated the room as Ark stared right into the eyes of the beast.
There was no movement, just two figures terrifying in their own unique ways, having a standoff. In a normal situation, the beast would have attacked him by now, but instead it watched him as though frozen in time.
Ark let out a dry chuckle.
"What is the problem? Having cold feet?"
He took another step forward and now he could even smell the horrid odour coming from the monster.
"I do have to say, you are very talented." He paused.
"Smell, sight… they are not often seen in basic illusions."
For the first time since their conversation, the monster gave a visible reaction. Its eyes widened and it took a shaky step back, a step that Ark closed within seconds.
And then Ark lunged at the beast at a terrifying speed. The beast tried to evade him, but it was already too late, Ark cut right through the illusion, appearing at the other side.
"Well, that confirms my hypothesis."
