PROLOGUE – THE PHOTO
INT. BLACK SQUAD HQ – LATE NIGHT
The office is empty, silent. Imran sits at his desk, exhausted after a routine arrest. As he opens his drawer, he finds an unmarked envelope that wasn't there before. Inside it is an old, slightly burned photograph—a young man with blood on his face, holding the hand of a frail, elderly woman in a hospital gown.
Behind it, a handwritten note:
> "You once had a name. But you forgot hers."
Imran's hands tremble. He looks at the photo again. He doesn't recognize either of them. But something inside… aches.
---
ACT 1 – THE UNEASY STIRRING
INT. BLACK SQUAD HQ – NEXT MORNING
The team is joking around. Arjun throws a file on Imran's desk.
> ARJUN: "Look alive, Wani. Another corporate fraud for us to solve."
But Imran isn't his usual sharp self. Zoya notices his distant gaze. He's staring at nothing.
> ZOYA: "Everything okay?"
> IMRAN (softly): "Do you ever feel like… your life began too late?"
Before she can reply, he walks out.
---
ACT 2 – THE SEARCH
INT. ST. MARY'S WOMEN'S SHELTER RUINS – BYCULLA – DAY
Imran returns to a now-abandoned shelter that appears in the background of the photo. As he steps through the dusty halls, the silence suffocates him. Old paperwork, medical beds, crumbling walls.
Flashback hits.
---
FLASHBACK – 2014 – THE LOST NAME
We see a younger man: dirty clothes, bruised knuckles, hollow eyes. He's called Imaan Shaikh.
Not a cop. A street-level criminal in the Byculla syndicate, doing odd jobs — extortion, smuggling, beatdowns.
He's close to only one person: his mother, Ameena, a kind woman who runs a medical shelter and helps women escape trafficking.
> AMEENA: "You can still become good, beta. Just walk away from this life."
> IMAAN: "There's no walking back. But I can protect you. That's enough."
---
ACT 3 – THE NIGHT OF FIRE
INT. SLUMS – NIGHT – 2014
That night, Ameena gets documents that can expose the entire Byculla ring. She plans to hand them over to the police.
The gang finds out.
A violent confrontation begins. Imaan tries to protect her. In the chaos, police raids the area.
Leading the operation: A.C.P. Sulaiman Qazi.
A gunfight breaks out. A gang member shoots at Qazi — Imaan pushes his mother aside and takes the bullet.
He collapses. Ameena screams.
---
INT. HOSPITAL – A WEEK LATER
Imaan wakes up. Alone. Head bandaged.
> DOCTOR: "Severe trauma. Retrograde amnesia. He won't remember his name. Or his family."
Qazi visits, recognizing him.
> QAZI (to himself): "He saved a life tonight… after ruining so many."
> DOCTOR: "No ID. No family claimed him."
Qazi makes a decision. A strange, personal one.
> QAZI: "From now on, your name is… Imran Wani."
---
ACT 4 – THE MASK HE BECAME
MONTAGE – YEARS PASS
– Imran trains in a private defense school.
– Qazi supervises his entry into the police academy under a forged identity.
– Imran excels.
– He joins the force, rising through ranks due to discipline, intellect, and an instinct no one could explain.
He never remembers Ameena. Never searches for a mother.
Because in his world… she doesn't exist.
---
ACT 5 – BACK TO THE PRESENT
INT. BLACK SQUAD HQ – NIGHT
Imran confronts Qazi's old office, now untouched since his "death."
Inside, he finds an audio cassette in a drawer. Labeled: "Ameena Shaikh – 2015."
He plays it.
> AMEENA (on tape):
"ACP sahib, please… tell him. I know you've kept him safe. But he's my son. Even if he doesn't remember… he deserves to know I never left him."
> AMEENA (breaking):
"He looked right at me outside the academy gate and walked past. He didn't know me. I waited another year… but he's gone. My son is gone."
The tape ends.
---
ACT 6 – THE GRAVE
INT. ST. MARY'S CEMETERY – EVENING
Imran stands before a small, unmarked grave.
Ameena Shaikh. Died 2016. No known relatives.
He falls to his knees.
> IMRAN (whispering):
"I forgot your face. But my heart… always knew something was missing."
> IMRAN (tearfully):
"I wear a badge now, Maa. I fight for the kind of people you died helping. I hope… I hope you're proud."
---
EPILOGUE – TRUTH REBORN
Back at HQ, Imran replaces his desk photo — the squad team — with the photo of him and Ameena.
Zoya walks in.
> ZOYA: "New picture?"
> IMRAN (nods, gently): "Someone I forgot… but never stopped loving."
---
CASE FILE 98 – CLOSED
