But she was proven wrong the next second as she felt a warm sensation on her lips. Her eyes widened in undisguised shock.
"What are you doing," her eyes screamed at him.
"Kissing. Ms Hale," Richard paused briefly to say then took her luscious lips in his again in a startlingly slow, delicate, and gentle kiss that sent a ripple of disquiet straight through her chest, leaving her mind reeling.
It was nothing like the devouring fire or the sharpness his words and glares always carried. Instead, it was like a man tasting a forbidden fruit, knowing it would poison him, yet unable to resist the sweetness.
This wasn't the man she thought she knew. This wasn't the Richard Domango who had dragged her through fire with his relentless accusations and disdain, or the brutless man who had constantly cornered her with sharp questions and cold gazes.
This person whose lips brushed hers like he feared she might shatter if he pressed too hard was clearly someone else.
