Chapter 91: A Simplified Jinchuriki
Regardless of human perspective, the nine tailed beasts differ greatly from one another. Apart from their distinct shapes, the most obvious difference lies in the number of tails. The Nine-Tails is undoubtedly the most powerful, while the One-Tail, Shukaku, appears relatively weaker. But does having more tails necessarily mean greater power? Not necessarily. The number of tails primarily indicates the amount of chakra rather than direct combat strength.
If the chakra volume difference is too vast, it might indeed result in a disparity in power. However, does that mean Kakashi Hatake, with significantly less chakra than Naruto Uzumaki, is inherently weaker? Certainly not. The tailed beasts have unique characteristics and chakra capacities, but their essence remains fundamentally similar.
One crucial trait of tailed beasts is their divisibility. The Ten-Tails was forcibly split into nine independent tailed beasts by Hagoromo Otsutsuki using Yin-Yang Release. Even the Nine-Tails was divided into Yin and Yang halves by the Fourth Hokage. Mizuki refrained from targeting Naruto not only because of the danger and the incomplete Nine-Tails within him but also because Naruto's body houses the remnants of Minato Namikaze's spirit, Asura's reincarnated chakra, and even the Sage of Six Paths' interventions. There were simply too many unpredictable variables, making Gaara a far more reliable target.
As time passed, Mizuki felt the pressure mounting, but it remained manageable for the moment.
Leaving aside the more complicated details, Mizuki shifted his focus back to Gaara. Initially, he didn't notice much change, but gradually, that terrifying tailed beast aura surfaced again.
"Does the tailed beast feel uneasy when it can't sense chakra replenishment?"
With the collective consciousness of humanity cut off, Shukaku's chakra became rootless and unsustainable. After expending a massive amount of chakra during the recent rampage, Shukaku's reserves were running thin, and without additional chakra to replenish it, Shukaku began to feel the strain.
Gaara, who remained unconscious and in a weakened state, became the perfect opportunity for Shukaku to take over. Yet even now, after the immense energy expenditure, Shukaku couldn't immediately break free. A wave of sand began to emerge from beneath Gaara.
Observing the situation, Mizuki remained calm. Tailed beasts, while inherently dangerous, didn't usually attack humans unless provoked. They preferred to remain in desolate places, far from human settlements. Jinchuriki, on the other hand, posed a different threat. Those capable of becoming Jinchuriki had inherently strong physiques and impressive ninja talents. Even without their tailed beast power, they were often formidable in their own right.
However, seeing Gaara in this weakened and unstable state was rare. After expending a massive amount of chakra to form the giant tailed beast body, the One-Tail, being the tailed beast with the least chakra, was undeniably struggling.
As Shukaku's chakra dispersed, clumps of sand mixed with chakra began floating upward, but they quickly came to a halt under the barrier's pressure. Gradually, the sand gathered and formed a miniature version of Shukaku, glaring warily at its surroundings.
Seeing the emergence of a miniature Shukaku, Mizuki couldn't help but be surprised before breaking into a smile.
"I thought I'd only gather some chakra, but this is an unexpected bonus."
Splitting the chakra of a tailed beast was no simple task. The Ten-Tails had been divided into nine tailed beasts, each retaining its independent consciousness. Even the Nine-Tails, split into Yin and Yang by Minato, did not lose its consciousness.
Without Yin-Yang Release or Uzumaki sealing techniques, Mizuki lacked the means to forcibly create a miniature tailed beast. He had originally planned to collect a large amount of chakra and gradually form a consciousness over time. To his surprise, Shukaku's fragmented consciousness had naturally taken shape, likely because the One-Tail hadn't anticipated anyone daring to directly attack the tailed beast itself.
Wasting no time, Mizuki quickly controlled the barrier to shrink, compressing it to the size just enough to contain the miniature Shukaku. With the barrier's range drastically reduced, its strength significantly increased.
Inside the confined space, the tiny Shukaku thrashed violently, but Mizuki's carefully prepared barrier remained intact. Satisfied with the result, Mizuki shifted his attention to Gaara.
With Shukaku's portion of consciousness sealed away, the remaining chakra inside Gaara seemed to calm down. However, knowing how erratic Shukaku could be, Mizuki quickly pulled out a prepared scroll and pressed it against Gaara's body.
"Four Symbols Seal!"
The sealing technique immediately took effect, suppressing the residual chakra. Although Mizuki could theoretically use the Eight Trigrams Seal, it was too complex and unnecessary for Gaara's situation. The Four Symbols Seal was more than adequate to stabilize Gaara's chakra and strengthen the existing seal.
Confirming that Shukaku couldn't stir any more trouble, Mizuki once again turned his gaze to the barrier containing the miniature Shukaku. Smiling in satisfaction, he retrieved another sealing scroll and activated it.
Inside the scroll was a thin, small figure with golden hair—the clone of Naruto Uzumaki. To prevent his body from overloading and self-destructing, Mizuki had raised him in a chakra-rich environment, albeit with controlled chakra to reduce risks.
"Even without Asura's chakra or the protagonist's plot armor, the Uzumaki lineage's physique makes for the ideal Jinchuriki vessel."
Wasting no time, Mizuki began the process of setting up the Eight Trigrams Seal on the clone's abdomen. Unlike ordinary chakra, tailed beast chakra couldn't just be stored in any object. Only a vessel with exceptional vitality and endurance, like the Uzumaki lineage, could withstand such energy.
"Now I've got a makeshift Jinchuriki. The simplified version may lack the true might of the originals, but it's a step closer to mastering the Jinchuriki creation process."
Satisfied with the successful sealing of the miniature Shukaku, Mizuki looked at his creation with pride. In the span of just one month, he had not only collected Shukaku's chakra but also managed to create a compact and controllable Jinchuriki.
"Step by step, the path to mastering Jinchuriki creation is becoming clearer."
