Chapter 20 - Before the storm

Alpha's POV 

The first thing I remembered was waking up in a small hut, crude, weathered, and unfamiliar. My body was stiff, every joint screaming with dull, relentless aches. The sunlight bled through the wooden slats of the wall, casting sharp rays across the dusty floor. The scent of pine clung to the air, mingled with the damp musk of earth and herbs. But it was the silence that unnerved me the most unnaturally still, too heavy for such a quiet place. It was the kind of silence that felt like it was watching you.

I had no idea where I was.

Or who I was.

Panic crept into my chest like slow-burning fire. I couldn't recall my name, not even a fragment of a memory. Everything in my mind was a blank canvas, no faces, no places, not even the sound of my own voice echoing back familiarity. I was a shell, a body disconnected from identity.

Then she came.
