Aurora feels her heart racing in an unfamiliar, puzzling way for the first time after Alex kindly helps her to the bathroom.
She took a moment to stand quietly behind the closed door, trying to soothe her racing heartbeat.
Even so, his familiar scent wrapped around her, bringing a comforting warmth to her heart.
She gently closes her eyes and tries to push him from her thoughts, softly chanting.
'Alexander Graystone! Can you please stop confusing me? I wish you would just act like your usual self, all cold and grumpy!'
Aurora expresses her frustration internally, allowing his poor attitude to consume her thoughts. Alex sometimes appears to care for her deeply, but it isn't long before he reminds her that their marriage is merely a contract.
'What the hell does he want?' Her hands are tightened, trying to find the answer.
Knowing she will never get the answers to all the questions now swirling in her chaotic mind, Aurora walks toward the sink and washes her hands.
