Chapter 66 - The storm

I woke to silence.

The space beside me was empty, where Leah had been.

It took a second before everything came rushing back. 

I climbed out of bed and knocked on the bathroom door. No answer. I pushed it open and yelled inside.

Leah wasn't there. She wasn't in the room.

Rushing downstairs, I walked to the dinning area where I heard faint sounds of glass clinking and plate clattering.

Leah was seated at the head of the table, cradling a mug between her hands. Her eyes were puffy, but she looked composed for someone who'd shown up at my gate in the middle of the night and had cried herself to sleep.

She didn't say anything when I walked in, she just gave me a quick glance, then looked away.

"Morning." I said, taking a seat beside her.

"Morning." She replied.

It was only 7 a.m. I remembered the promise I had made to Christian that Leah would leave in the morning, but I struggled to bring up the topic. 

"Has Christian come down?" I asked one of the staff.
