Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

Ace stares at Nick Fury, unsure of how to respond. This guy looks intense, almost like he's seen things Ace can't even imagine. Nick Fury has an aura of authority and experience, and Ace gets the sense he's not someone to be trifled with.

Fury is the director of some kind of shadowy government organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. Ace has heard whispers about them, but he doesn't know much beyond the basics. From what he can tell, they're the types who operate in the shadows, dealing with threats most people don't even know exist.

Ace wonders what Fury wants with him. Is he in trouble? Or does Fury see something in Ace that could be useful? Either way, Ace knows he'll have to tread carefully around this guy.

Ace furrows his brow, feigning confusion. "Who are you? What's going on?" he asks, though he already knows the answers.

Nick Fury regards him with a steely gaze. "I'm Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now, tell me, what do you remember?"

Ace pauses, trying to piece together a convincing story. "I...I'm not sure. The last thing I recall is fighting the Grongis... Then everything went black." He looks around the unfamiliar room, keeping his tone casual.

Ace sits up in the hospital bed, wincing slightly at the lingering soreness in his body. "I remember... two agents, they pulled me out of the rubble. Saved my life, I guess."

Nick Fury nods, his one good eye boring into Ace. "That's right. My people got you out of there. Figured a kid like you could use the assist."

Ace lets out a small, nervous chuckle. "Yeah, well, not the weirdest thing you've probably seen, huh?" He shifts uncomfortably under Fury's intense scrutiny.

Fury leans back, studying Ace intently. "You're not what I expected, that's for sure. The Kamen Rider, a high school kid?" He shakes his head, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Ace shrugs, trying to play it cool. "What can I say? I'm full of surprises." He pauses, then adds, "Uh, thanks. For the rescue, I mean."

Fury waves a dismissive hand. "Don't mention it. Just doing our job." He leans forward, his expression turning serious. "Now, I've got a few questions for you..."

Ace braces himself, wondering what Fury has in store. He knows he's treading on dangerous ground, but he's determined to keep his cool and see where this conversation leads.

Nick Fury's gaze bored into Ace as he asked, "So, how did you get that armor of yours?"

Ace shrugged, feigning ignorance. "I'm not really sure. It just...appeared one day. I don't know where it came from."

Fury frowned, clearly not satisfied with the answer. "You're telling me you have this advanced superhuman armor, and you have no idea how you got it?"

Ace nodded slowly. "That's right. It's kind of a mystery to me too." He paused, then added, "But it's been really helpful, you know, fighting those Grongi creatures."

Fury leaned back in his chair, studying Ace intently. "And what exactly can this armor of yours do?"

Ace considered his words carefully. "Well, it gives me all kinds of abilities. Super strength, speed, different forms with unique powers..." He trailed off, not wanting to reveal too much.

"Interesting." Fury drummed his fingers on the arm of the chair. "And you just happened to stumble upon this incredible technology, huh?"

Ace nodded, maintaining a casual demeanor. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. It's been a wild ride, that's for sure."

Fury's expression remained unreadable as he regarded Ace. The tension in the room was palpable, and Ace couldn't help but wonder what the S.H.I.E.L.D. director was thinking.

Ace's brow furrowed as he studied Fury's impassive expression. "So, am I a prisoner here or what?" he asked, trying to keep his tone casual despite the tension in the room.

Fury raised an eyebrow. "What makes you think you're a prisoner, Ace?"

Ace shrugged, trying not to let his unease show. "Well, you're the head of a secret government organization, and I'm sitting here in this hospital room. Doesn't exactly scream 'freedom' to me."

Fury leaned back in his chair, his gaze unwavering. "You're not a prisoner, Ace. You're a guest. We just need to run a few tests, that's all."

Ace felt the familiar weight of his Kuuga transformation in the back of his mind, ready to be unleashed if necessary. "Tests, huh? What kind of tests?"

"Nothing too invasive," Fury assured him. "We just want to get a better understanding of your abilities, that's all. Make sure you're not a threat to national security."

Ace couldn't help but scoff. "A threat? I'm the one who's been fighting those Grongi creatures, trying to protect people."

Fury nodded. "I'm aware of that, Ace. That's why we're interested in you. But we need to be sure you're not working with them, or anyone else who might want to cause us harm."

Ace considered his words carefully, the tension in the room palpable. "Okay, fine. I'll do your tests. But I'm not your prisoner, right?"

Fury's lips quirked in the hint of a smile. "That's right, Ace. You're free to go once we're done. We're on the same side here."

Ace let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding, the weight in his mind easing slightly. He still didn't fully trust Fury, but for now, it seemed like he had no choice but to play along.

Nick Fury stepped out of Ace's hospital room, his brow furrowed in thought. He found Maria Hill waiting in the hallway, her expression one of concern.

"How's our patient doing?" Fury asked, his voice low.

Hill glanced back towards the room. "His vitals are all normal, sir. Stable, even." She paused, her gaze meeting Fury's. "But when we first brought him in, his heart stopped. The team tried everything, but they couldn't revive him. We all thought he was gone."

Fury nodded, his jaw tightening. "And then?"

"A few hours later, his heart started beating again on its own," Hill explained, her tone tinged with disbelief. "And his body started to heal itself. All of his bodily functions are stronger than they were before."

Fury's eyes narrowed. "Any idea how that happened?"

Hill shook her head. "No, sir. Our doctors have run every test they can think of, but they can't find any explanation for it."

Nick Fury stood silently, observing Ace through the one-way mirror. The young man sat on the hospital bed, his brow furrowed in thought.

Maria Hill approached Fury, her expression one of concern. "Sir, do you plan to recruit him to the Avengers Initiative?"

Fury's gaze remained fixed on Ace. "I'd be a fool not to consider it. The kid's got skills, and we could use someone like him on the team."

"But he's a minor," Hill pointed out. "Are you sure that's a good idea? Using children in this kind of work?"

Fury let out a sigh. "I don't want to, Hill. But the kid's already been thrown into the thick of it. And we could use his help." He turned to face his deputy director. "Keep an eye on him, will you? I want him under surveillance, at least until we figure out what's going on."

Hill nodded. "Understood, sir. I'll have my best people on it."

As Ace prepared to leave the hospital room, Fury watched him closely, his mind racing with the possibilities. The young Kamen Rider had already proven himself to be a formidable ally, and Fury knew that he couldn't afford to let him slip through their fingers.
